  1. The first version was glas fiber with a top plate of carbon. The second version was full carbon. The top plate is detachable. 2. I just manged to solve the issue using Media Encoder. One prompt came up when I copied the file into Media Encoder asking if it was OK to install the HEVC plugin. After that..good to go in VLC and Premiere Pro.
  3. yey...new topic! Tried to import a PAL 1080p 200fps (440mb) GoPro 6 clip to Premiere Pro CC (recently updated). Premiere apparently did not like it and just hung up. Rebooted the computer and tried to open Premiere and it just didn't want to load. After a wile, the yellow screen saying "Media Pending" appeared, but nothing else. A youtube clip in Chrome also stopped working. Killed Premiere and Chrome, tried the youtube clip and it played as normal. The computer is a fully packed Dell Precision with a Quadro M4000 GPU. Any ideas? I was told recently that apparently, Apple and Adobe are having a MPG4/H.264/AVI war going and therefore Adobe does not support GoPro MPG4 codec. Could this be something? Also, the new GoPro editing program does not have the old neat feature of exporting the file from MPG4 to AVi -=:: EDIT ::=- It opened fine now. Not sure why, but the GoPro file is not in the project file. I did however move it from the folder I imported it to in a hope to break the link. Maybe it worked...? 4. Thanks for the input :) As you said, it needs to have the ability to fit an extra layer for the winter. The Boogieman zippers on the legs are super neat for the summer :) Being just a hobby next to work, whatever I earn on tandems, if I can't jump enough to spend that money, I might as well invest in gear ;D "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  5. Thanks guys! Seems it was a bit easer than I thought.
  6. Strange that I could not find a thread for tandem instructor suits. The search however, came up with lots of hits on "tandem wingsuit" Sitting here in my imaginary Nomex flame retardant suit; Are there any good built tandem instructor suits where one may add padding and cordura on knees + butt + baggy legs and arms + hook knife pocket on each thigh? 7. I was told about this from one of the Norwegian old timers. A female skydiver had a mal in 1973-1975 IIRC (in other words, before I was born =P ). She released her main and went on her back to pull her belly wart in a speed close to terminal. This was a two pont attatchement mounted reserve... Bootprints in the back of her helmet... She had back issues since then and didn't do a skydive ever since. 8. A friend of mine (not this video) and others, did this last year while in the states. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xx-dZwRH_dg "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  9. ..I'll try and remember that on my return flight "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  10. Sorry, I don't. He was about my hight - 5'10'', white hair and glasses..+ TSA uniform. He was at work, friday 22nd around 4 pm. If you're able to find him and hear more about his story, that would be great!
  11. well, his age was about that, so it could be that jump he spoke about. When I return to Norway, I'll transit through Charlotte again. Maybe I'll meet him and get some more info. Too bad you can't sit and chat with TSA security "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  12. He didn't say any names and I didn't ask, but when I read about the Son Tay raid, there were no parachutes there. But by the way he talked about it I had no reason not to belive him. 13. I spoke with a security officer Friday 22nd March at Charlotte airport in North Carolina. He was swabbing my rig after X-ray since none of the security officers knew what a parachute was and he did. He mentioned that he had been skydiving way long ago. I asked him some questions and he then told me about his only jump and my chin dropped! His only jump was in the military he told. He was transferred to a EOD unit and was sent to report in. Upon his arrival he was informed that he was already scheduled for a jump. He pointed out that he didn't have any training at all. His fellow soldiers just told him that they would train him exactly on what he should do. So they did and he then did his jump, got a pat on the back, the wings and "good job". His jump was a night jump into a POW camp during the Vietnam war... 14. maaaaan! The Admin should add a like button on the forum ASAP! I'm cracking up here! On a serious note, my Vector 3, DOM July-07 has some 1200 jumps on it. The only "damage" on it is 3 broken E-threads and a small spot of frayed binding tape on the reserve flap. :) It has been with me on many travels and different DZ's. But I'm taking well care of it. I had to change the harness after some 5-600 jumps because they had to cut me out of the harness though.. 15. hehe...those machines are just porn! I had my way with one at a boat cover manufacturer this spring. it was...awesome.. :D But even used they're like $12k, but I'm dreaming ;) I've had a couple of times where I had to plan how to distribute the suits in order to make it a smooth job. But I'm still amazed that several of you are holding up with "regular" machines. I've got tons to learn! :D "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  16. hehe...the shipping may be more then the machine =P How can I set it up for E-thread other then changing the needle? Are there any parts I can change og re-arange? I really like it and it is in good condition..would be a shame to sell it... =/ "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  17. Thanks for the tip! However, we had a service mechanic overhauling the machine and he stated that the E-thread was to heavy for it. We are therefore using a 5/6 or 3-cord thread. But since we don't have E-thread we're not using it and planning on selling it in favor for a machine that handles E-thread. If I'm not mistaken, E-thread is mil.spec, right? and the civilian counterpart is commercial #69 thread? 18. ..yes! I'm looking forward to manhandle a Sigma 340! "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  19. When I sewed a parachute for my bachelor thesis, I came across a long arm double needle heavy duty machine. It could sew straight through 3 layers of Dacron storm sail fabric, 2 layers of binding tape and 0,5cm cheap boat line. It was awsm! But is it beneficial to have a long arm machine for canopy repair? I'm amazed by you using household machines for patching. How do you distribute all the fabric without it clogging up under the arm? It is possible to repair jumpsuits on the Pfaff we have in my club, but I have to stuff fabric in all direction when sewing in some places. it it's just a patch on the nose or similar, I can understand that you can use them. But in the tail on a 280 student canopy or tandem canopy, won't it be very hard? Long arms are of course super duper expensive, but I'm curious :) Our Pfaff 118 can't handle E-thread and suffers when repairing binding tape on leg pads and can't handle E-thread. We have now gone down to a lighter/thinner thread and then it works flawlessly. But is there any way we may adapt it to handle E-thread? It is a good machine and we had it overhauled recently. But still, it couldn't take E-thread. All the different options and customizing I've learned about sewing machines is fascinating! I had no idea when I started searching for å setup that it was this complex. :) "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  20. nee...sort of. I think i got it. Walking foot is the s***t! :D The Pfaff 118 we have in our club is a bottom feeder and I would like to have something that pulls the material better, e.g. walking foot. The needle feed sounds a bit weak when it comes to pulling 2 layers of cordura + binding tape, or is it? The momentum might be to large for the needle mechanism? How does the three methods of transportation work with ZP or f-111 fabric? I'm thinking of getting a straight + zig zag machine for E-thread to begin with. I guess that will cover most of the work and is a nice start. Any suggestions on models? Thanks for you help, guys! :) "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  21. What is the difference between compund and walking foot? And more importantly; is one of them better then the other, allways or just in some cases? 22. Hi all! I'm trying to use the design of the ParaCommander for a underwater application for my bachelor thesis. But in order to downscale it as correctly as possible, I'm in the need of detailed drawing. Does anyone have them? Are the drawings available? I did find some useful info at parachutehistory.com that I can work on, but a more detailed description on the gores that have slots in them and dimensions on the slots would be really helpful. I know there are some experienced riggers out there. and I hope some of you want to help :) I've called Strong, Airborne Systems, ChutingStar, Paragear, and PD(R&D was not avalible at the time). None had any drawings - but could provide me with good info about the PC Mk1, Mk2 the Pappillon and some stories from the past :) Please PM me er post here. I did search for it on the forums - but as you can see, i didn't manage to dig it up. Thanks for you help :=) "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  23. I really think the admn's here should implement a "like" button. I would then have to go through the entire thread and hit a lot of "like" 's. Though may be the oldtimers providing us with these stories might have a problem understanding the "like" concept =P "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  24. +1 but not yet ready for the velo I see. Hope he's not in to much pain still. "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
