  1. Absolutely hilarious)))))) Thanks for sharing.
  2. Cypres can be hacked to fire every 120 days as a repack reminder. Just push the button 10 times while the light is on.
  3. Simple: float on the water and practice arch as much as you want.

    Fantastic tracking!
  5. Sounds great to me, Jason!

I think this guy did glide ratio 10:1 or something from a big wall, without pants or wings. I propose to call it "f*** you I won't do what you tell me"-naughty (TM)

Wind introduces unknown variable to GPS data. To eliminate wind, two skydivers (each with GPS) should jump simultaneously: one would track, another would make a human ball (tuck hands and legs in, as close to spherical shape as possible) and fall "straight" down (relative to wind). By subtracting the horizontal speed of the reference jumper, we get the accurate measure of the tracking speed and true glide ratio. Same experiment with atmonaughty

I think they should be redesigned to be efficient in protrack ("atmonaughty"). The air intakes should be designed differently, since the relative wind is now along the body, not from below. Such jacket/pants will work more like a ram-air wing, not like a round parachute.

I'm in! In the future This word sucks! It probably sounds more natural in Italian than in English. I propose to call it simply "protrack". Especially that Larsen&Brusgaad will soon discontinue it

Found the answer (search, duh!) "Please explain how this is more efficient than tracking and what you mean by efficient (slower vertical, faster horizontal?)" - "What I call efficiency is the horizontal speed/ vertical speed ratio. I don't know the exact term in English. According to Marco, this ratio can be better in atmonauti than in normal track because of the body position. It can seem strange because your body has more angle in atmonauti flight than in track, but it is more aerodynamic and thus creates a kind a lift effect (like a canopy)." Thread

Cool, dude I'm not base jumping yet, but preparing - in particular, working on my tracking skills. If atmonauti flight covers more ground horizontally than regular tracking, I'll learn that, too! (Besides, autmonauti looks and feels more powerful and sexy than sausage-like tracking ) Any data on glide ratio in autmonauti vs. tracking?

Is atmonauti flying used in terminal wall jumps by anyone? Is it better than flat tracking in terms of horizontal movement?
  14. Tom, thanks a lot! Very interesting numbers. Looking forward to Safety Day :)
  15. Is there any? We all know the fatality rate is about 1 death in ~100K jumps. How many jumps, on average, end up in broken bone(s)? How many leave the jumper crippled for life? This statistics would be especially useful for newbies, since we tend to persuade ourselves that skydiving is "safe". My impression is that about 50% of skydivers have broken bones. What's you guesstimate? PS. I have my both wrists and the tailbone broken by hitting the edge of the runway on my 42nd landing. The irony is, I persuaded my whuffo colleagues and friends how safe skydiving is just the day before. But I'm back
  16. I made about 10 jumps with music at the Holiday Boogie in Eloy and enjoyed it very much. My favorites tunes were "Adelante" by Sash! and "Masters of the Universe" by Juno Reactor. It's so much fun! The feeling is wonderful. The music makes you REALLY fly My altitude awareness didn't get distracted at all. I used iRiver HP-120 player and earbud headphones with Paratec FreeZR helmet. Now I'm thinking about buying a small solid-state player and mounting it on the helmet, with open-air headphones built in the helmet. PS. Don't try to outloud the Skyvan though or you'll be deaf in no time
  17. Everybody is talking about PLF. "Learn PLF". But nobody is explaining HOW. Is it a secret? Anyone brave here to raise the hand? How to do high horizontal speed PLF properly?
  18. Never give up. Be very careful when your loved one bends you.
  19. I am, too, interested if anyone is using digital SLRs. Were there any problems due to quickly changing pressure causing the anti-aliasing filter be displaced from the sensor, rendering the camera broken?
  20. Exactly. All those illustrations show a slow horizontal speed PLF when you landing speed is mostly vertical like when landing a round parachute. But what a 20-30mph horizontal speed PLF should look like? You can't smoothly roll from the balls of your feet to thighs. Anyone?
