That's because I don't have an agenda. I'm just commenting on what is going on and the arc it seems to be following.
  2. Isn't he the angry guy who keeps complaining that he invented a MARD and it was stolen from him?
  3. I see. I know Sandy a little. I would say that this post says more about you than it does about him. But I guess you are on a mission of some sort.
  4. So, what does this show and what is worse? Riser covers that don't release till later in the reserve deployment sequence or riser covers that don't stay closed during high speed skydives? And why do so many irrelevant static tabletop faux problems seem to be popping up here, almost exclusively from France? This is a non issue.

Do you seriously think we have not already heard of the long debunked "Great barrington Deception". Are you in the grips of other conspiracy theories or just ones about Covid?
  6. I believe the emergency orders also specifically provide that entry into Canada to support the protesters is not allowed.

Look again. I see that it shows a huge spike in hospitalizations, far more than other waves, yet less in ICU than in other waves even in absolute numbers.

Thanks for the link. And yes, I apologize for the lack of clarity and error.

I would have to say that is not the case in our local ICUs. We have still quite a few, but not as many as in the past wave. And the number is already slowly declining as are deaths. The Omicron wave began here about New Years and of course deaths are a lagging indicator. Many of the active hospital cases we have are Delta patients. Also the total cases considered active, but not necessarily in the hospital at the moment are over 10% of the number for the whole epidemic. The test positivity rate is over 20% and we are not really testing everyone. Omicron is still very present yet the number of hospitalizations is declining. If it was as virulent as Delta we would be completely snowed under. And even in the areas with less vaccinations there is not nearly the same level of distress. It is very clear that Omicron is not making people as sick as the other variants. Where am I going? I guess I am just trying to make sense of the fact that there is a large difference in this wave. And I'm struggling to understand where we are going. But I can say for sure that where I live the death numbers are going down while the case numbers 4 weeks ago were exploding. And with death being a trailing indicator my main point is that Omicron is not causing as much SARS. It is causing distress, but not destroying lungs like the earlier variants.

You would need to know the cases per day to make the comparison. BTW, where is that chart from?

Sorry. On a per case basis was what I meant. I am largely basing it on what has been happening here. An unprecedented number of new cases daily, but not a corresponding increase in ICU occupancy or deaths. The need for ventilators is simply not at the scale of the Delta or earlier waves. Although I suppose that may be strongly influenced by our over 80% vaccination rate.

There are not as many deaths with the current wave. And almost none among the vaccinated. It appears the despite the name of the virus being SARS-CoV-2 the omicron variant only fairly rarely causes SARS. There are far fewer patients needing to be intubated. The next wave could be very different though.
  13. As far as I can tell all the border crossings have now been cleared of any protesters blockades. Mostly but not completely without arrests.
  14. They are part of both our police and military.
  15. But that stuff wasn't in Ottawa. It was over a thousand miles away in Coutts AB. A place a lot like the front range of CO.
  16. My all time favourite conservative voice has passed. One the best reasons for buying The National Lampoon as soon as I could every issue in the '70's. https://apnews.com/article/arts-and-entertainment-ohio-pj-orourke-8917a0ecf7df991285d4ce718aca1158

  18. Carlin fans are everywhere.
  19. The original complaint that truckers had and that began the convoy was the removal of the exemption that essential workers including cross border truckers had at the Canada/US border. That restriction goes both ways. Neither Canada nor the US will allow non-vaccinated aliens to cross the border as before. If an un-vaxxed Canadian shows up at the border in a truck they will be allowed in but will be required to do a 14 day quarantine. If an un-vaxxed Canadian shows up to enter the US they will not be allowed entry. Trudeau only controls the Canadian part of that equation. The convoy and associated protests have become much more complicated and basically is an anti-government and especially anti-liberal government movement at it's core. I think of it as a deplorable plus libertarian plus anti-covid restrictions mashup of pissed off people.
  20. That's what can happen when you don't pay the help.
  21. It would I suppose. But the last time I checked they were still fresh water lakes and unlikely to be greatly affected by sea level rise.
  22. I am confused as well. But I'm fairly sure he will clarify soon enough.
