On very short notice, our team changed our plans for our 3 1/2 day training camp to go to CSC from another dz. The CSC staff bent over backwards to help accommodate us. They even helped book our hotel rooms. Everyone was extremely friendly and they did everything they could to keep us in the air. In total we did 39 out of our 42 planned jumps and only fell short because of a little bad weather at the close of one day. We highly recommend this dropzone to other teams.

I would agree, good vibes, instructors and staff. well maintained gear. Great parties. The only South Westren Ontario DZ that has a full time Otter in the summer (182 for the off season or extreamly slow days) Check them out I don't think you'll be dissapointed. We have slow days at Burnaby???? lol. Ok, maybe some weekdays.

Can Canadian military personnel participate?

My home dz is www.skydivegan.com It's in the Kingston/1000 Island area. May 20-22 is a Twin Otter boogie and a Freefly Festival with jumpers from all over Ontario and Quebec coming. We also have Scott Miller from Skydive Deland tentatively booked for June 8-11 for his canopy camp. And sometime in May/June we're having a CRW Camp - dates yet to be confirmed. There are jumpers that drive down from TO (and further away) every weekend....so we must be doing something right ;-) Have fun!

I'm heading to Lake Wales for the first time this month. Does anyone have any advice on where to stay? i.e. bunkhouse, team rooms, people who rent space in their house, etc. If so, contact names/email/phone numbers? Thanks!

Heh Mark, I attended the big-way camp in Perris last May and it ROCKS! I know you really want on the CDN way and won't be able to go to the next Perris camp before the CDN way but you may want to look long term budgeting for the following camp even if it will be after the CDN way. It is well worth it.

Hi there, There's also Skydive Gananoque just north of Kingston. Beautiful view of the Thousand Islands and Rideau Canal. We're having a big Otter boogie on the Sep long weekend too. If you want to do lots of jumps Gan is the place to go.

The Otter is getting in later tonight but there are definatley going to be people at the dz jumping this afternoon. So if you want an excuse to leave work early and head to Gananoque - there it is :-) Remember Arnoud from Holland? He jumped at Gan a couple times last year. Well, he's back visiting his parents in Kingston - a visit he conviently scheduled over Skydive Gan's Otter boogie, so he'll be at the dz this weekend too. Cool, eh.

And I'm going to try to make a cake, maybe 2! Of course, that might be a little difficult considering my kitchen has been totally gutted for the re-model...but I'll do my best. Also, for those who haven't heard - the Otter Boogie is Doug's last weekend at Skydive Gananoque before he deploys to Iraq . He's going to be spending some time with family and Sylvie before he leaves. PS. Skydive Gananoque is closest to Ktown. Let me know if you need a ride and I can find someone to hook you up. We also have a bunkhouse and space for tents (both free, of course) if you want to spend the weekend. Hi Mark, this is Andrea from Skydive Gananoque. There are a bunch of people that make the trip to Gan every weekend from Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto. Of course, I'm biased but it's an awesome place to learn and an even greater place for dropzone life...campfires, bbqs (someone will always let you cook on theirs), beer, and lots of skydivers with tonnes of experience and lots of stories. I love it :-) We also have a bunkhouse that is free to stay in if you don't want to camp out in a tent. I'll email you privately with some contacts for potential rides. We opened last weekend and this weekend is calling for good weather (knock on wood!). Hope to see you soon, Andrea

HUMAN BEINGS ARE PART OF NATURE!! As a Newfoundlander I feel compelled to post here as well – I’d like to refer to an article by Russell Hillis called “Hunting and the Antis” to put a different spin on the seal hunt. He writes about how the “Antis” equate hunting with killing and that killing animals is cruel. There are many (not all, of course) who seem to forget that buying a couple steaks at the local grocery or buying leather shoes is also contributing to the death of an animal. He also writes about, and I definitely agree, that anti-hunters generally do not understand the effect of their own actions. Quote Some, are careful not to eat meat, not buy leather products, use hygienic products that are not animal tested and so on. Their actions still cause suffering of animals, how? Most of the products they use to replace leather, wood, beauty care and so on are petroleum based. One must wonder what these people think that the oil in an oil spill was going to be used for? Too many people believe that crude oil is used solely for the production of fuels and lubricants. Petroleum is used everywhere in every shape and form that you can bring to mind. Take a look at your computer to start with; nearly every part of it involved the use of petroleum. The case, the keyboard, the monitor, the mouse, everything has been touched by the petroleum industry. The effect on wildlife? Oil spills, acid rain, increased flouro-carbons, and the list goes on and on. The biggest problem the anti-hunting faction has? It has no idea what effect they have on the environment through their own actions. Most, in fact believe that the human race is NOT part of nature, and we are some how above it. The anti-hunting faction has little care for the human cost of their campaign. This can be seen in the Arctic and Newfoundland, where the Inuit and the sealers way of life collapsed after the destruction of the seal hunt. End quote.
