    Dream Flight

When I was a kid i remember watching the movies that my dad had made while skydiving.(he wore a super 8 movie camera on his helmet in the early 70's) and just knowing someday that I would do it. It took a little longer than I wanted to but I eventually made it into the world of skydiving.
  3. its a bit confusing to me, I don't know what happened to my main. I could not see it over my head, but it was not in the tray. the only thing that I can imagine is that there was a line caught on something, or a baglock at one of the first stows. either way, it wasn't over my head. I know that I was getting low, and there wasn't anything out. so time to chop and go for the reserve.
  4. Well First I'd like to say thanks to all the folks at Denver skydivers!! Steve and Maria, the place was great!! Now to let ya'll know what happened, I had my first reserve ride!!! After an uneventful solo, I dumped at 3000' ....1.....2....3.....4?????, I hadn't even slowed down a little bit. I looked up I could see my pilot chute, no line stretch, no D-bag, nada. QUICK sweep of the container, and nothing was in the tray. one more look and right....left and I was under my very beautiful reserve for the first time ever! white top skin, black ribs and bottom. thanks to nick for finding my freebag and main. I should be back up there in two weeks with beer in hand!!
  5. this is the response that I would have expected from anybody who feels that they have been put oout at any time in thier life. I want every one to take a step back and understand exactly what he was saying....this is not about his views, it is about his right to have those views. The statement was made to show that he had an opinion, and that it might not have followed the main stream views. Now the ignorant one is the oerson who decides to say that his opinion his wrong, or other wise stupid, or "ignorant". You have the same right as Mr. Nugent does, express your opinions, but lets remeber that everyone is entitled to thier opinion, and just because it doesn't agree with yours, doesn't mean that it is wrong. I am proud to say that I serve my country in the US Army, now I protect your right to have an opinion, if you feel that I am an ignorant white male, feel free to drop me a line. However do not step on anothers opinion just because it disagrees with yours. oh, and by the way, I am a bad american! sorry for the soap box, josh Blue Skies!!!
  6. please make the bad men stop!!!! damn, my eyes hurt! oh the pain, the agony! I won't be able to sleep for a week, to much mental anguish!
  7. Hey Mountainman, There are a lot of things that you have to ask yourself before even considering joining any branch of the military the biggest one, is it worth it to me? The only person that can answer that question is you. I say that only because l have served active duty Army and the reserves. I have recently decided to go back on active duty. It all has to do with your attitude and your desire to serve your country. As far as how long it takes, you have to go through 8 weeks basic plus your Advanced Individual Training. That can take as little as 4weeks to as many as 56 weeks. just depends on the MOS that you choose. As far as questions to ask, ask about the options that are available to you, bonuses, schools(airborne, air assault etc), and jobs etc. If you have more questions than that, contact a recruiter, or drop a line I can answer more specific questions. Blue skies!!! josh
  8. Hey everyone, drop a line and let me know who is going to be there. I want to meet all of you, and make some dives! I'll be there Sunday!!!! It sounds like a fun place to jump, I can't wait! blue skies! josh
  9. As most of us do, I am sitting here waiting for the long weekend. This one is special, one of the few weekends that I actually get a 2 day weekend(I have got to find a new job). Anyway, my elation has turned to dread, as the weather channel has repeatedly told me that my weekend is sure to suck. So after going over the many contingency plans that are locked away in the in case of rain break glass case. I have decided that whether or not a plane leaves the ground, I probably will drink enough this weekend to feel like I am flying. It's too bad that when the long weekends roll around you have to look at the sky through a window because the damn rain won't quit. For those of you out there who do get the chance to jump, please take a moment right before you leave the airplane, and think of the less fortunate jumpers out there who are grounded this weekend. I will raise a toast and thank you for it, good luck everyone, blue skies!!!!!
  10. I would like to tell everyone about SD Temple, is where I started, and where I will continue to skydive. The people are great there, we are a small DZ 2-182's and a 206. But we have a lot of fun. Good facilities,Huge landing area, Air Conditioned pack shed, Camping. The owner usually puts on a bbq every sunday. ***Hook Turns Verboten*****

  13. you can stop by anytime, I live in Temple, Tx
  14. this is a very interesting subject for me, almost everything said can be applied to me. I guess that my high school counselor was right when she said I probably had ADD. I can tell you that skydiving is one of the few things that i can keep my mind on for more than a few minutes. It is such a sensation that I get can get as excited just thinking about it as doing it. it is an undescribable feeling, and there is no roller coaster ride or theme park that can compare. Now to talk about the whole gene thing. I come from a very interesting background. Both of my parents were skydivers(born again whuffos). they both have had thier private pilot licenses. Into motorcycles, anything that would push the envelope if only slightly. It is something that I dreamed about since I was old enough to remember. for me it wasn't a question of whether not I was going to skydive, rather when. I guess it would be a combination of the two that got me into the sport. And the thrill, as well as the enviroment keep me in it. Since this is my first post, go ahead and say it.
