(Portland-AP) -- After failing to report for active duty in the Persian Gulf, a U-S Marine reservist from Portland has been arrested as a deserter. Robert Sandifer signed up as a Marine reservist about five years ago to get money to attend Southern Oregon University, where he majored in art. The 28-year-old is one of seven Oregon reservists in the Marine battalion who have been declared deserters. He is the first to be caught. Military officials told The Oregonian newspaper that Sandifer was apprehended as he arrived for work as a baggage handler at Portland International Airport. Sandifer was assigned to the Eugene-based Company A of the Sixth Engineer Support Battalion, which is currently in Iraq. A spokesman for the unit says Sandifer is now on his way to the brig and possibly faces court martial. Who Dares Wins
  3. Guess you should have been bitchy. Probably would have got the same result, but they may have passed it on, or not. Who Dares Wins
  4. BS! You are more professional than that and more than anyone else know how inflamatory your choice of wording was. If you didn't mean it then you should have never even used the word. It's kinda like using the "N" word, sorry, wasn't me, I meant someone else was saying it. This is starting to get kinda dejavu, as I recall the folks that yelled and screamed at me in the airport in '70 when I came home from RVN. Who Dares Wins
  5. You have reached a new low, "GOONS". What should thery have done, let them roll right into them and not done anything to defend themselves. The "GOONS" are the assholes that forced them to drive into the checkpoint. To call those men at the checkpoint GOONS in inflamatory and totally disrespectful. And YOU are a moderator, you should have better sense that to post something as inflamatory as that. Hey HH, time to bounce someone. Who Dares Wins
  6. Yep, those must have been the recruiting posters he saw. Wait a minute, isn't that the Commandant's secretary? Who Dares Wins

  10. Young and stupid is not a defense. The Marine Corp dosen't hide the fact that everyone is a grunt first. This kid knew exactly what he was enlisting for and deserves everything he gets. Dishonorable Discharge and time in the slammer. Maybe he can CO his way out of fighting to survive in the stockade. Who Dares Wins

  18. Then join them and do something about it, be part of the solution, don't just piss and moan about it. Don't think this is new, friendly fire has been a problem since war began. It sucks, but it happens. Who Dares Wins

  21. Bah! The Sig P220 is clunky, doesn't lend its self to combat shooting (self defense, not combat, combat) due to the feel of the weapon. Now, a Glock! They're indestructable, incredibly reliable and very accurate. Not to mention lighter and sleaker then Sigs. You can have your Sig, but I'll out shoot you any day of the week with one of my Glocks! (Ahhh, this is nice, I love talking guns) I seriously doubt if you'd outshoot me. The last good gunfight I had was in '70, when I was 1-1 on a CCN team way up north, a couple of clicks over the fence. Shooting is very diferent when being chased and shot at. The best pistol we had then was a silenced .22 Colt Woodsman. Just consider this for a moment. You may have heard of an organizaation called GSG-9, undoubtedly the best counter-terrorist unit in the world, ask anyone in the business. The chosen weapon they carry in addition to the HK MP5 is the Sig P220, why's that I wonder. Who Dares Wins
