  1. Quote"Ethics" isn't what you say. It's what you do. That's dam straight. However, someone's perceived ethics can be totally different than what they really are.
  2. So you partially quote me and then start a new thread with it in the header. That's the second time you've done this Tom. Hmmmm..... Maybe if you simply just unbunched your panties you wouldn't have such a problem with me and wouldn't take comments out of context to try and make a point.
  3. Nope, wrong. number logging right.
  4. Hey Tom, why didn't you highlight the other parts of my post that got your panties all in a bunch? Like: "pretending that we are just totally reckless and disrespectful" and "Especially when people on this forum get thier panties all in a bunch." You read these forums more than anyone. You of all people should know when someone is making a joke.
  5. Shut up Rigger Pete! I'll kill you!
  6. Missing the point? Numbers are neato. Competing with your friends for jump numbers is fun. Getting publicity is a means to an end. That end being opportunity. Unless you're independently wealthy publicity gets you free trips to exotic locations like Baffin Island. Watching yourself on TV high fiving your bros and whoo whoooing at the top of your lungs with an Aussie after you just got paid to fly to New Zealand and get transported to a new cliff via helicopter in the daytime doesn't suck either. Now are you going to guess a number or not? If not go complain about those dam attention seeking, number counter media hounds with some of your soul bro, ethically correct, finger pointers somewhere else. WhoooooooooHoooooooooooo! Looooook At Meeeeeee!
  7. I just don't want anyone to have fun death camping without me. That's all. Death camping my friends is really funny. When it works that is. And then pretending that we are just totally reckless and disrespectful is even more fun. Especially when people on this forum get thier panties all in a bunch. "Base Ethics" What a crock a shit.
  8. Oh, yer not a base jumper..... I take back my "'Go ahead and have at it" comment. Cwads and tards can be thrown very wrong even by people who think they are really good at it. Trust me I know. Don't do it. A back splat from 60 feet could cause some serious internal damage.
  9. The container is a black Vision which I believe will fit a 220. I'll say whoever is closest period. None of this without going over stuff. Alrighty then. Here's what we got so far: User Name # guess eb66to77 731 Mikki_ZH 729 gweeks 1000 Chizazz 756 flr169 769 JaapSuter 666 base587 1001 ChrisHall 600 Sean621 621 lifewithoutanet 830 Faber 850 crazydave44 744 I have this saved in excel too. Interesting to see how much confidence you all have in Miles. You all must have met him before. By the way, I wouldn't bother factoring in any injury time. Miles now has something like 1100 base jumps and his worst injury I believe was a scratched pinky.
  10. Go ahead and have at it. We have done 70 foot tards and cwads into lake water before. Yea, totally pointless but did it just to see how long the canopy ride would be. 1 was 1 second the other was 1.5.
  11. Anytime someone else holds your unpacked canopy while you jump it is called a CWAD not a tard. Get it straight. Sounds like it would work. Just don't fuck it up.
  12. Guesses have been logged. Jaap, you're going to loose with that 666 guess. Miles is one of those church goin, "God bless you" types. Ain't no way he'll end up with that #! Maybe we should also bet on how many WOOOOHOOOOOS he does this year too. He's better at those than anyone. Especially the Aussies. They totally suck at those.
  13. I just bet Miles D $2 that he couldn't do 730 jumps in 2006. That's 2/day. Manship probably already did this but it still should be a tough one. He's already got 14. What the hell else is there to do in Twin if you had to live there anyway? Anyone care to bet on how many you think he will really get? What say we start a pool? I'll keep track. I've got a container I'll donate to the closest guess.
  14. You are comparing a base death camp to pretty much every skydiver's AFF level 1. So does that make AFF level 1 a death camp? This is assuming you didn't have to do a tandem first and many don't have to.
  15. Miles had his record project idea planned for at least 3 years before he did it too. Well, not really planned but had the idea. Way I see it these are two different record attempts. One is simply for the numbers and the other is an attempt to keep it somewhat related to real base jumping, by powering himself to the exit point. The third catagorie and the most respectable would be to pack and hike yourself to the exit point every time. I'm sure that if Guiness was involved they would recognise these three seperate catagories just like they do with all other sports. As far as whuffos go however its all about the numbers.
  16. Yup Clyde River is the place. Not cheap but worth every penny.
  17. Hey looky! That was me! Goddam I'm good! Actually its pretty amazing how far skiing has come in the last 4 years since all that footy was shot.Didn't seem that long ago that that stuff was considered pretty sick. Base seems to have come even further in the last 4 years. Especially with tracking. By the way, its Baffin Island. Singular. Not "the Baffins." Only one island and the 5th largest in the world by the way.
  18. Search and rescue in that area is a volunteer service so it was free. However, forcing volunteers to have to perform a rescue of that nature into the late hours of the night is a pain in their asses. I sent them a donation and then prepaid for several of them to go have dinner in one of the nicest restaurants in town. It was the least I could do.
  19. Yea I agree. Its also easy as piss to wait for the local search and rescue dudes to climb their ass all the way up to the highest tree on that wall at impact level so they can peel your dumb ass off the wall after you just jumped it in less than ideal winds with some random jumper you met on this forum who turned out to be a coke dealing flaming pedophile. Neat.
  20. Tar and Feathering! Tar and Feathering! Dam glory hound. Look at me! Look at me, I'm in Life Magazine saying the same old false cliche lines. Which were exactly how I said them and not in anyway out of context of course. What has Jasen Bell ever done for base jumping anyway? What are you sponsored or something?
  21. Yea, totally paid more. Gotten filthy stinkin rich off it actually. You should see my 4th base money investment property, huge. What's even better is all the great friends and amazing amount of respect I get from base jumpers now. Its good to be the king. It was a pleasure for you to meet me.
  22. Exactly 565 jumps. You totally beat me by 10 jumps Jason. Shit.

Yea come on up to Tahoe and check out our radness. We're pretty good. We'll even let you carry all our gear up to the exit point if you're lucky. But seriously, if you really want to try it i suggest you put on your rig and practice hitting the jumps at the terrain park. This is the best simulation. A good tight skier's position/style is perfect for a ski base. You want to think skier not base jumper or stand position not belly to earth. If you are not familiar with terrain parks, the most important thing is to hit the jumps so that you land on the tranny. Don't ever over shoot the landing. Come up short if you have to but don't go long. Start on the smallest jump, figure out your speed and then work your way up to the biggest jumps. Try and be stable on every jump.

By the way, JT Holmes just got banned for 2 weeks again. Imagine that! So all you guys who have been PMing him probably won't get a response.

Bitchen! It looks like we may get a decent turn out for this one. By the way yes, I am the retard I guess because APOOPA stands for Americans Parachuting Off Objects with Parachutes Association. Forgot the Association part. Officially this association's boss is Chuck Lowenpull, ya know the world record guy, so the actual name might be a bit different. This will be APOOPA's first event. You can still come even if you're not American but you have to wear a George Bush mask for your jump. The cliff is 380 feet if you drop a rock from the exit point but we call it at least 420 feet due to the slope below and speed we carry off the cliff. Its the same one you've seen people doing flips off in Radix. It is jumpable without skis but gnarly as you will open very close to the wall and might slip trying to step off the ice covered exit point.
