  1. Thanks I had been looking on paragear was basicly just wanting to make sure I wouldn't be better off shopping somewhere else. Greenie in training.
  2. I plan on getting a neptune as my visual altimeter. I was just wondering where you guys suggest I get it from since I am going to have to order it online because there is not a dealer close to me. Greenie in training.
  3. Why not? Lots of us post about most every jump we make. If someone doesn't want to read about other peoples jumps they don't have to. You may not realize this but many old and jaded skydivers enjoy hearing what newer jumpers are doing. Some of us feed on your excitement; hearing and seeing it gets and/or keeps us energized about the sport. I will keep that in mind and if this idea doesn't fly I will do exactly that and post it in general skydiving. I am not shy and it doesn't bother me, just seems that other students only seem to be posting on other student threads and things. I would love to hear how everyone else is progressing so guys you heard her let's hear it! Greenie in training.
  4. Welcome and good luck with your first jump!! Greenie in training.
  5. Does that still meet the requirement? I sometimes get it right, but more often do a single flip. Yeah, my instructors acted like it was fairly normal. I got cleared for my 5 second freefal then went up and did it and flipped out of control and pulled while on my back but got signed off on it to so I think as long as you pull on the first few you are ok. Greenie in training.
  6. Exactly, hopefully sangiro thinks it is a good idea. I will have plenty to post about after this weekend. It will be the first weekend that I have got to jump saturday and sunday since I usually work saturdays and also the first time I have atended the saturday night DZ bonfire. Greenie in training.
  7. I can see where that could be helpful. I didn't really envision it as a place to ask questions, more of a place to just talk about the experience. Let me try to explain better. Right now I have 7 jumps and every jump I do feels like a huge accomplishment at this point as I am sure it does for all the other people in student status out there. It would be cool to have a forum where I could just post stuff like "Made jumps 7-12 today" and then talk about them in detail like I want to. I would post them in general skydiving but I am sure you guys don't all want to read about every jump I make right now, however I am sure that other student jumpers would love to see that maybe I made some of the same mistakes they did, or be able to tell me how they got over some problem I am having like unstable exits. I have instructors at my DZ to coach me but sometimes nothing is more helpful than someone who is going through the exact same thing as you are. Greenie in training.
  8. I did a single front flip on my hop and pop. I was about halfway "down the hill" when I started to lose control and looked down, I quicky got "faith in my arch" and ended up belly to earth though. Greenie in training.
  9. Welcome to our little chunk of the internet. I would say just listen to what your instructor has to say. Especially when he tells you to "trust your arch, have faith in your arch." Greenie in training.
  10. Instructors are floating around to answer questions. But questions are better asked in forums like safety and training or general skydiving discussion. I meant for it more to be a place to just discuss how your jumps are going and talk with other people who are going through the same thing. Greenie in training.
  11. The introductions and greets forum is for introductions and greets not to discuss things that are going on while you are in student status there needs to be a forum specificly for that. Greenie in training.
  12. Thanks for the encouragement. Even though my instructor and a few people I am getting to know at the DZ said it was very normal I kinda got down on myself about not having a good enough arch to keep me belly to earth the whole time. So it is good to hear some positive comments on the things I did do right. Greenie in training.
  13. Yep. Short, sweet, and tot he point thanks sunny. Greenie in training.
  14. I was wondering that too, I can only assume it means grabbing the static line in a way that would keep a good portion of it in the plane and start deploying the parachute sooner. Hopefully someone who knows for sure can let us know. Greenie in training.
  15. You don't have any wine cheaper than that to be your second bottle? Guess I am just a cheap jump ticket wanting bastard Greenie in training.
  16. Don't ya hate when that happens? Open a bottle and the next thing ya know it's empty. It's not bad if I forget about the glass on the second bottle is it? No, not bad at all that is the recomended method for consuming 2$ wine. Greenie in training.
  17. At least kev caught on btw good job on pig latin lol. Greenie in training.
  18. If you click it 100 times it will start telling you how cool you are. Greenie in training.
  19. My first two thoughts as well Actually I looked over the plans and as long as he doesn't decide to up the pressure in the tank he is fine. There should be no air in the hose for the flame to back up into the tank. Greenie in training.
  20. Did anyone else read the posts in reply to that? Greenie in training.
  21. You will not "tumble around durring the freefall" on your first jump no matter which form of progression you pick. The closest you will come is the AFF program and even then it should be a belly to earth freefall the whole time unless you screw it up. The other route you can take is static line progression which will get you to your first freefall around jump 6. Greenie in training.
  22. I find that most of the people that talk regularly on the forum have in excess of at least 100 jumps. I however think that there are several low time jumpers that just lurk for the most part because they feel intimidated by that fact. For awhile I thought I was the only 2 jump wonder posting on here until I posted about my practice ripcord pulls in safety and training. I would love to see a forum titled Student Jumpers or something similar. That would allow us all to talk about student related things. I mean after my last few jumps I really wanted to post about them but didn't really see anyplace to be apropriate. Link to PRCP post Greenie in training.
  23. I consciously got belly to earth before I pulled but I know the priority which is why on the second freefall I ended up pulling on my back when I hit my pull altitude. Greenie in training.
  24. Speaking of that a good movie to watch if you like comic books is "Unbreakable" starring bruce willis and samuel l. jackson Greenie in training.
  25. I'm with you dave I am a sucker for movies based on comic books. Greenie in training.
