  1. I'm thinking of buying a place in Empuriabrava and I need a bit of help and advice. Does anyone know of any English-speaking estate agents in Empuria or anyone who's selling a place? Also, some advice on buying in Spain and what mortgage to get would be useful. I'm not sure if I'll be renting the place out to other skydivers or just buying for somewhere to stay while I'm at the dropzone…. Thanks guys. **Moggie Gifts**
  2. Just so everyone knows, I have been ringing round different insurance companies this evening and I found out a few things: Endsleigh - it seems that Endsleigh do cover extreme sports including skydiving; however, they don't have an annual policy so that means you have to take out a new policy for every trip you go on. It is very reasonably priced though, it cost me £16.50 for a 5-day trip. AXA - no longer cover skydiving at all (as above). Sportscover direct - have a Sportsguard annual policy, which includes everything apart from repatriation (which could be incredibly costly should anything happen to you outside of Europe) at a price of £97 for Europe. The company's Ventureguard policy does cover this but at price of £250!! Harrison Beaumont - I didn't manage to contact them (they shut really early), but I think after this trip they are really the only sensible option as they do specialise in extreme sports insurance. I hope that we don't all end up having to take out ridiculously expensive insurance policies from now on!! **Moggie Gifts**
  3. Thanks for your help. I'm thinking of going with Endsleigh as it includes repatriation and that's the expensive bit. I'm just a bit annoyed as I paid £80 last year with AXA and Endsleigh costs £126! It's just another expense to add to my already costly trip.... **Moggie Gifts**
  4. I went to renew my annual travel insurance today only to find that AXA no longer covers skydiving, apparently it is one of the exceptions in the company's 'extreme' sports package. Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative company that offers insurance including repatriation? I wonder what the implications of this will be for those who currently hold AXA travel insurance policies, will they be covered? **Moggie Gifts**
  5. Hi, A few people meet up every now and again. To get on the London skydivers mailing list run by caz click the link under this post. **Moggie Gifts**
  6. For 2005 I'd like to be able to: -embrace skydiving more and not get so angry with myself everytime I do something wrong. -to realise that sometimes when people are telling you about how amazing their skydiving is I'd like to not just see that as bragging and try to congratulate people on their achievements. -I'd like to get the confidence to ask people especially instructors questions. -land on my feet -Be more open and willing to learn things rather than try to do things on my own!! -And try to have fun, it seems I have forgotten the reason why I did it in the first place!! -Buy a larger canopy. anyone got a spectre 170 they want to sell? (in the UK). **Moggie Gifts**
  7. I thought you were anti wind tunnels? **Moggie Gifts**

  9. Australian's speak proper English, you know from that country found in EUROPE called England or as we ENGLISH like to call it the UK (that stands for United Kingdom). **Moggie Gifts**
  10. Well said! I agree, I think that the more she is invloved in what you do the more she might understand why you do it in the first place. **Moggie Gifts**
  11. Ah I work in Leatherhead, not too far away. Why don't you join the London skydivers list I think Reading will qualify. They all meet up for drinks every so often in London funnily enough and show off their skydiving vids (apparently, I haven't managed to make a meet yet!). http://groups.yahoo.com/group/londonskydivers/join **Moggie Gifts**
  12. why don't you buy her a tandem for her birthday? Maybe then she'll get hooked and that will solve the problem of her worrying about you. **Moggie Gifts**
  13. all consuming (as in your wallet and your life), refreshing (especially when you have a hang-over), breath taking, spine-tingling. **Moggie Gifts**
  14. thanks for your help guys, much appreciated. I will investigate further! **Moggie Gifts**
  15. I've just bought a new rig, I don't expect I'll be jumping it for a long time, but I would like to make the first steps towards using it by doing a basic canopy control course. I am looking to take a long weekend (Friday-Monday) so I'm thinking maybe Empuria or Lillo! Does anyone highly recommend any good canopy coaches, I am very delicate and have had my confidence bashed so I would preferably like to have an understanding and patient instructor over an excellent canopy pilot that can't teach!! Any ideas or personal recommendations?
  16. yeah, I got my license on the last load of Langar boogie from the skyvan!!! I'll see you in Spain I'll be there, lets hope the weather's good enough!! **Moggie Gifts**
  17. ya Sian and Tim (it would be nice to be thought of as Sian as an individual for a change and not Tim's bird!! ) It was just on the off chance really, I'm far too lazy to organise meeting people! i'm not a hardened UK jumper yet, think i'll wait until Spain, are you off to Spain in November? **Moggie Gifts**
  18. just suddenly remembered that skydivers all wait patiently for the weather to clear on the DZ at the weekends!! maybe when the weather's bad (which it probably will be from now until April!)? **Moggie Gifts**
  19. Wow, that's pretty good going when you think there's not that many of us! I'm waiting for the Leatherhead meet, anyone up for that? Nah Leatherhead skydivers hasn't quite got the same ring to it!! On a serious note is there likely to be any meets at the weekend in future? caz, anyone? **Moggie Gifts**
  20. could do?! I've just put myself on the mailing list, I was feeling a bit left out not working in London! I'm working on it though!!! How many people, roughly, turned up in the end? **Moggie Gifts**
  21. How did the meet go? I can't really go to any of them coz I work in poxy Leatherhead, but if you wanna hold any in Wimbledon then that suits me fine!! **Moggie Gifts**
  22. Hi I've sent you a PM anyway but I think I met you at Langar Boogie. I was the one who freaked and went psycho because I'm petrified under canopy (just be thankful you didn't do that). I think if you want it that badly stick with it...this sport is one big rollercoaster ride of emotions......you're jumping out of a plane for gods sake.....it's not going to be easy!! I love it and I hate it, it's a very strange feeling. For me I'm hoping once I get over my fear of the canopy I'll have nailed it, as for you it's about getting over the mental barrier and then you've cracked it. We all have our issues and that's mine........I know how you feel though, you're not the only one (I used to think I was the only one too). Keep at it and be thankful that you have the time, money and determination to continue.....I have 1 out of 3!
  23. I just noticed your post and thought I'd give you some advice, if you have already booked up and decided where you're going then good luck with the course. My boyfriend has recently done his AFF with Scotty Milne and I'm very jealous of the instruction he received! He is an excellent canopy pilot, packer and all round skydiver......I, on the other hand...still need lots of help with all of those things!!! I would higly recommend Scotty as he will teach you everything you need to know about skydiving, will take you to any dropzone (Empuriabrava is very good!!) and is a friend as well as an instructor. If you want more info his website is: www.activeskydiving.co.uk. Good Luck! **Moggie Gifts**
