    I'm back...again

    Howdy all, I haven't posted on here in almost 6 years. Took a long break from skydiving for a number of reasons. Mostly lost my taste for living following some deaths in my family starting with both my parents about 5 years ago, and more recently my son Chris, who passed about 16 months ago from an overdose of fentanyl at the age of 24. I got old in my mind, got fat in my body, and pretty much lost any interest life while watching my sons struggle with the same demon (addiction) that nearly took me out 23 years ago. My other son Jake continues to struggle with the same addiction and it all just got to be too much. All I could do was get through each day and not lose all hope. Ironically, my sons death 16 months ago was kind of the impetus to rejoin the world of the living. About 6 months following his death it was anyone guess if I was going to get through it, but I decided at that time that it was not going to end me and I began a slow but steady trek back to the world of the living. I have gotten myself back in shape physically, found some new passions, and re-kindled some old ones. Since it had been a number of years, and I'm not any younger than I was before, I traded up my Pilot 168 for a ZPX Pilot 188, got my CYPRES services, reserve repacked, renewed my license and membership, and got my sorry ass back into the sky for the first time two weeks ago and DAMN it was good to be back. Funny though, I'm kind of regretting the upsize. While I was considerably heavier when I decided I wanted to get back int he air, I'm actually lighter now than i was when i was still jumping the 168 and kind of wishing I hadnt been so cautious. Well, i suppose my knees will thank me some day ;) Anyway, I see some new names, and a lot of familiar ones too. Going to the boogie tomorrow and Sunday at Cross Keys and hope to make a ton of jumps. Good to be back among the living and back in the sky :) In retrospect, perhaps I should have posted this in the bonfire...

    I bought my very first rig from Arlo at TSO-D years ago. Best customer service experience ever. Went back for a second rig and Arlo was working elsewhere at the time but Marcello always gave me great service as well. I didnt know she was back there again. Arlo will take great care of you. If I ever buy another rig thats where I'm shopping. You cant go wrong dealing with them
  5. Been married to the same one for 15 years and going very strong. I jump. She doesnt. It works for me
  6. Find an instructor, ask questions, find out the policies and procedures, find out where the outs are or any particular hazards, powerlines, farmer McNasty's, etc around the dropzone. If you cant find someone willing to answer these basic questions without getting annoyed, find another DZ

    Rookies Review of the Pulse 170

    Is 160 your exit weight or your weight without gear? I ask because if that's your weight without gear, then your exit weight puts you in the "advanced" wing loading area for the Pulse 170 23 jumps is a little (a lot) soon for that 1.1 wing loading... I'm not the last guy that will tell you that (hopefully)

    Skydive Cross Keys

    I love jumping at Cross Keys. Since I've been jumping there I've jumped from a Skyvan, a Caravan, a C-182, a helicopter, a porter, several Otters, a King Air, and a bi-plane. The aircraft and facilities are always well maintained and clean. Mostly they run Otters and King air. I rarely have to wait long to get on a load and I always find people to jump with. Theres a LOT of fun jumpers there and they dont just cater to students. I've never had a bad experience with any staff member there from the DZO to the packers to the manifest folks. Cross Keys is NOT the closest dropzone to my home, but its where I jump 99% of the time. I might jump other places from time to time just for different experience, but this will always be my main dropzone

    a LOT :) 6 - 7 grand for a harness/container, main, reserve, AAD Consider used gear initially...

    slightly bent reserve pin

    If it was my rig I would have it replaced, unless it was actually supposed to have a slight curve. You should inquire of the container manufacturer
