1. Give me some time. I will call Paramag magazine and ask for a copy of the article. Ronald Overdijk www.liveskyproductions.nl

JasonF

It is very, very uncool to lose a base jumper. It is even more uncool to lose a base jumper doing a memorial jump. Even this has happened before though, May 2000 at Brento in Italy. I met Jason for the first time in Shanghai this year and yes, he was a very nice guy. Condolences to his family, Ronald Overdijk
3. "After seeing that I now find it hard to believe that anybody is going to do anything below, sub-100 ft./ sub-33 meters, "Over Hard Ground" with today's Vented-BASE Canopy tecknowledgy. A big-big chance you will be carried to your the car by your ground crew." Years ago, there was an article in Paramag (french skydive magazine) of a Frenchman doing several bag launched jumps of a 29 meters bridge over a grassy field. (no soft sand). Looked OK to me from the pictures taken from above. No flare, toggles set in half brakes, he just ran on landing. This was better than releasing the brakes (creating forward surging speed). Good 2 know history... Ronald Overdijk www.liveskyproductions.nl
4. Yep, it is funny, because mr. Cordia does not jump base Ronald Overdijk
5. I jumped with Steve Janz (Smiley) in July this year in Vancouver. He hurt himself on that jump though. His email is [email protected] Say hello if you see him. Ronald Overdijk www.liveskyproductions.nl

BASE en Chile

I know Eric Fradet jumped near Esquel, Argentina. It is opposite of Chiloé Island, middle south of Chile. His email is [email protected] There are cliffs of about 100-130 meters in Talampaya National Park, La Rioja Province, Argentina. No clue about accesability though. Finally, I remember a front page picture in Skydiving Magazine some years ago with a base skysurf of a cliff somewhere in shouthern Chile. You should contact Skydiving therefore. From what I gather of rafting descriptions, the Bío Bío river vallley (near Concepción) has cliffs similar to Yosemity Valley And yes, Chile is beautifull. Alas, the best parts are far away from Santiago. Eg. Torres del Paine National Park (oops, big wall climbing there...) and the Atacama desert. Spent 5 months there Have a good trip, Ronald Overdijk www.liveskyproductions.nl

Switzerland

We jumped waterfall and the nose last year end of november, about 30-40 cm of snow. Just put your rig on close to a possible slide and fall point. If you don't like that conditions, don't do it and go back Ronald Overdijk

release toggles

I have seen the WLO toggles from Morpheus Technologies. (I don't remember the name of their type). They for sure are the best available at present. Ronald Overdijk
9. I thought it was Jimmy Freeman doing the video from the Tokyo building, filming Jeb. Anyway, that is what they both told me in Shanghai. Ronald Overdijk
10. Anybody, what are the possible effects of tape on lines? I know that writing ink does effect the strenght of lines, so could glue do so as well? Hope not. Experiments usually lead to succes and to disaster... Ronald Overdijk
11. I was in Lauterbrunnen when it happened, and spoke to UK jumpers who witnessed the event. What I gather is that DT made his first wingsuit jump, and that he had a tendency to pull low. His pull on this jump was low, he took time to extract the PC, and he fell for some time with his wings deflated (leading to increased fall rate). He hit the ground on line stretch. His wife saw it all.... I was jumping with a NL friend at the other side of the valley, and only found out about it when we went to Air Glacier for some general weather info. So, this info is second hand, but from witnesses on site. Needless to say, we loose another base jumper. Condolences to his family. Ronald Overdijk [www.liveskyproductions.nl]

42" PC From 300'?

I have done several jumps from 300 feet with a ZP 36 inch, hand-held and BOC. No problems, always under a flying canopy after 4 seconds, giving at least 10 seconds canopy ride. I only used a 48, 42 and 36 inch PC sofar in my base career. Not according to the manufacturers book, but then, they have an interest selling lots of PC's. Ronald Overdijk [www.liveskyproductions.nl]
14. Just a quick comment about the big wall issue. I feel it is not "just a skydive" either. However, you can treat it as just a skydive if you act accordingly. What we see nowadays is people with not so many skydives, and lacking basic skills like flat tracking, recovery to stability, basic aerials (stuff to be tried in freefall first) trying to learn this in a base environment. Unstable in freefall, try again (altitude permitting), unstable close to a big wall, here come the fatilities (edit: site names ~TA) Big walls: respect them, and get your basics first. Ronald Overdijk
