WOW!! Y'all rock! Thanks for all the great advice everybody!! I have a lot to learn . NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT WHERE TO PUT IT. I'm thinking it should be someplace WARM near a good sized city or two. Thoughts? Let's discuss

I agree completely with What42. After my first SL jump I downloaded the SIM and devoured it, registered here and joined in the threads just like you are doing. Much of what I've "learned" is still over my head because I don't have the experience or training yet. That's OK. I know my JM will introduce the correct material at the correct time. HOWEVER, much of the material is NOT over my head. I'm ready to be quizzed on the next category now, for example. Reading/learning ahead also underscores the need to master each skill as it is presented, cuz I can see how it all fits in the "grand scheme of things". For what it's worth...

I failed to mention something that I LIKE about SL besides the price. I get to do everything myself. That's important to me because it forces me to think and plan ahead. I have nobody up there with me to help. 1111, GeekStreak

I just saw this in the employment section: DZ FOR SALE!! They have no airplane . Anybody know where they can get one? 1111, GeekStreak

So I'll starve, but I still get to jump, right??

Since my first jump I've been wondering how to make a living in skydiving. I have no special skills (with only 2 jumps so far) so I was wondering: What would it take to start a NEW DZ? -- chunk of land near an airport -- building -- plane(s) -- JMs, Riggers, Instructors -- JUMPERS What else? How much? What can I expect to make? Where (preferably in TX) would you like a DZ? Any DZOs out there wanna share? 1111, GeekStreak

Now THAT I'd like to see! Did they chuck 'em all out at once or did they make one pass per pumkin? Hmmm... I think I'll grow pumkins this year

The weekend of my first jump the DZ was having a marshmallow drop fund-raiser for the local SPCA. You buy a numbered marshmallow and they throw 'em out of a plane. The closest to the peas wins the money. Besides marshmallows and jumpers, what other kinds of strange things get tossed from planes? Inquiring minds need to know! 1111, GeekStreak

I know what u mean Pammi. I still have my first set of golf clubs from 1974!! I got a hole in one with 'em... just can't seem to sell 'em. I don't even play anymore, cuz 30 seconds after landing (with an un-elegant Paracgute Landing Flop ) I swore I was giving up golf for jumping. Still got the clubs though. 1111, GeekStreak

Dang firewall!! Try it now, Pammi. 1111, GeekStreak

Congratulations! You and I are using the same training schedule. I made my "not-second" off-field landing, "not-second" stand-up landing, "not-second" radio-free (cuz it wasn't working, I think) landing, and "not-second" downwind drop. When you've only jumped twice, firsts, I mean "not-seconds" are pretty common. See you at "A" 1111, GeekStreak

I gotta ask the newbie question... What IS the Him! Him!/Her! Her! thing?? 1111, GeekStreak

NOOOOOOO!!!! I was secretly hoping you wouldn't sell it for a few months . That rig woulda been perfect for me! I bet the person buying the rig would think the $150 was worth it. 1111, GeekStreak

There are some JMs lurking about here and there. Come out, come out wherever you are... 1111, GeekStreak

That's not very whiney, but awesome! My son did the same thing his first game... went down hill from there. He said all the pressure made him suck. Pitching wasn't for him. Too bad, too. Kid had an arm on him. He woud-up being a great 3rd baseman instead. Now he's all grown-up and I got him jumping!!! No pressure, though . 1111, GeekStreak

Nice word PT... Had to look that one up! Marked by shame or disgrace... Geek's lack of vocabulary is ignominious. 1111, GeekStreak
