  1. "What makes you think she stopped? I've been beatin' it like a hostage. $kin. "---SKINFLICKER You know, skinny old man, just because I like you, Im gonna do you a favor. I can see you still have Jen issues, and, while I normally dont do this kind of thing on the Internet, heres Jenny's number 867-5309. Now, of course, I dont know her personally, but I imagine youll need a houston area code. Just tell her you got her name and number off the wall, if she asks... Now y'all have fun and solve some of that excess sexual energy. ps. skin- since Im doing you a big favor, the least you can do is find out why the hell she wears a dog collar. With a tag. According to my info that means she is a part of the S+M bondage lifestyle as a submissive and has entered a committed relationship (like marriage) with a dominant, whose name appears on the tag. But Im relying on you for the details. With pictures or video. thanks man.
  2. ("In the interests of keeping this a newbie thread and therefore less deeply technical...how about you and me gettin' it on sometime? I'll be thinking of you in the men's room. "---SKINFLICKER) Oh, Skinflicker. Youre just still mad that Jennejen stopped sending you nude photos via email. Give up on Texas, man.........
  3. Whether Daisher (or prancer, or comet, or vixen) is good or bad is perhaps not the important point of this thread. Supposing someone in BASE is truly bad, what exactly did you think, in reality, hard tacks would or should happen to them? Venting on dropzone is one thing. Dealing with an offender, whoever that is, even supposing that all agreed that said person was an offender, is quite another. Many threads in the past have sidestepped this topic. Self-policing? Uh, No. There is little of this. Lets face it, the legend of Tarring and Feathering is one incident away from being a Myth. If the "really bad man" does show up, he likely will care little for his peers or their bruising commentary. But if, on the other hand, a 6' 9'' 280LB business owner does show up to comment in person, this category is handled by laws on assault, vandelism, kidnapping, and the like. The judge will be unmoved in sentencing you because you were policing the ban on rail bailing. I do not support Miles, although I have met and jumped with him. I do not support Jimmy's approach to Base, but I know him as well, having watched him arrive on the Lodi scene long ago. And even though I realize the Golden Age of Base is over, I am both "anti commercialism" and "anti expansionism" in what some of the BASE oligarchy consider "advancing" Base. Keeping base simple and closed is "advancement" enough for me, seeing as how "making a buck" seems to drive many of BASE's ethical dilemmas as well as bringing into the sport people who have a frivolous and disrespectful and flippant opinion of Base history, Base and its uniqueness. Expanding BASE should in no way be anyone's goal. Keeping self-indulgent PR efforts, and those that come into the base scene influenced by those efforts at a minimum sounds much better.

Another form of base ethics, you should promote and jump the gear that has proven itself to you, not the gear someone offers you for free. I run into this "on the road salesperson for a certain manufacturer" occasionally, who is more than willing to lie to sell equipment for the manufacturer, and get "free gear". Ive been told that the "mojo is a snivelling dangerous canopy" by said persons. Yeah. Right.....
  5. congratulations on BASE, rodney. You'll be under the wire for 900 something.
  6. ....And in another year you'll do it, too.
  7. Dont mind Skinflicker. He's been exchanging so many nude photos online with Jennejen via E-mail, he's gone blind and needs an oxygen tent. He updates his avatar periodically so the rest of us will recognize what's left of him in front of his computer screen... . Once his wife finds out....
  8. Awful lot of site naming going on there. Hope Toms not looking....

  11. The only way to get to the roof and still be alive is to pretend like youre crazy and on heavy drugs. Fortunately, as a truck driver, I fit right in....
  12. I have two deliveries in the Bronx, then one in Norwich, CT, shortly. I know the bronx has nothing higher than the projects, but anything worth a taxi ride? I get thru moderately often, thanks very much.
  13. Nice damage control guys. Perhaps some of all that christian charity and forgiveness will find its way to not banning pepe from future bridgedays; that would maybe allow him to know the rules for next time, if he has a next time. Seeing as how no ones perfect. You do good work at bridgeday guys, but sending me christian emails berating me for terrible words like "nonsense" is forcing your views on others. A quote from MIB "there wouldnt BE nothing, if you didnt go STARTIN' nothin'". Stop sending me emails about your opinions and Ill stop caring remotely about you or your religion. Good Luck on handling the future, and good day.
  14. Actually, im not criticizing you for being Christian. I dont care, it means something only to you. I am criticizing Jason for sending me a christian email about my use of the phrase "Christian nonsense" in the body of the "AM antenna post" in describing the type of broadcasts put out on AM radio. Those AM radio christian views are typically insulting and anything but mainstream christian; they give voice to a minority christian view. My comment was offhand and casually comical, but Jason made sure to hypocritically judge me, without knowing me, professing me an atheist, and otherwise coming to my private door to shovel his views on me. In being so thin skinned about the word "nonsense" and assuming so much from just that word, you did judge me, and you were sure of your christian duty in inferring how I should live my life. I dont like people showing up at my door with holier than thou attitudes; you dont have that right. And to find out not two days later that Jason is sending heavy handed red faced e- mails to someone ticked me off. Rules are fine. High emotion driven by your ethics is another. Even if the jumper was in your face, and screaming and yelling, all you needed to do was to say, "I know, Im sorry. We have these rules in effect now, if I say you can get away with it, than everyone can get away with it, so I have to keep my word for consistency." The email described by 515 sounds significantly different than this kind of maturity. Lastly, Jason printed a private email without asking for permission, and went so far as to edit this exchange to give only his voice and his view and has even smugly thanked me in pm for giving him the opportunity of announcing his christian views. He left out my reply to his original email, giving a hearsay summary of its "negative" contents to insult me and advance himself. In the academic world, this is unforgiveable behavior. My reply was a semi-refutation of Jasons worldview notable in his judgemental and unsolicited original email to me. Said refutation may make me look bad but certainly would have undermined him as well, hence its omission. I criticize Jason for calling himself a christian and acting otherwise, not for being a christian. There really are good people and good christians out there, and they are not necessarily one and the same, and I admire them both equally. There are just very few of them, and, being a very faulted person myself, I am greatly suspicious of those who trumpet themselves otherwise. Do you want parity? Print my response to Jasons original email so people can see what a real wacko I really am. He has my permission. In the body of that response it comments on, among other things, the role of women in the christian church, and their treatment. Pretty sick stuff. Lastly Bridgeday is in part an event for Basejumpers. What goes on there shouldnt be a circus. It should be low key and about the basejumpers. About their ethics. About their sport. About an exit point, a freefall, a landing, and a big smile. They should have excercised self control and restraint. But as christians and basejumpers you should have shown them respect and infinite forgiveness. The purpose of religion is to learn how to control yourself. Not others. No hard feelings. .
  15. It was recently posted, that arguing on the internet is like the special olympics. Even if you win, youre still retarded. But, I for one, got a cheap deal on bulk iced lemonade, and now that Im going to hell (according to your emails ) Im gonna be sitting on easy street for a long, long time. . Ill see ya in Hell, johnny! But at least I know not to jump with Jason, or the houston crew, or a long long list of Jason supporters who have emailed me. Yep, my work here is done...
  16. Actually, its a real shame that Jason didnt post my response to his email, but by not doing so he gets to voice only his side, and control any opposition to his point of view. And just prior to the thread being locked down. But the point of the end of that thread wasnt religion, it was the way he treats Base jumpers. Telling them how bridgeday will go, not asking them. I think this was 515's point. Maybe the email 515 commented on should also be posted. But I agree, that thread was turning into a powderkeg and could have easily gone nuclear.
  17. Good for you Mike. Cursing at bridge day is one topic, Jason Bell, the hypocrite is another. I also received, and have retained a threatening email from Bell on the subject of "christian nonsense", a term I used with respect to AM antenna broadcasts in the recent AM antenna post in this forum. Jason, a christian fundamentalist evangelical, is about Jason Bell. No jumper is interested or asked for tv coverage at this base event, but Bell's ego, it seems, craves it; it makes him look important to his state and his church, and he will heavy hand his religion in his own self importance. Curious how such a christian resorts to threats, and violence, a most insecure and unstable and jason centric person. Next year Ill be attending the colorado thing and let jason bring his disturbed blend of ego and religion to Bridgeday without my tacit involvement. I imagine that the bridgeday party thing is gonna start tapering off. Seeing as how Im an ex-Navy truck driver, who operates in life as a rationalist, Im not much concerned with his threats. He and I and his god have an appointment at my next cliff jump, it appears.

    AM Antennas

I jumped an antenna complex like that near Moscow (120 km north) with Den, a very rusted group of antennas in the forest near a road, that leaves your hands very red. This is near the "military complex" ? US AM antennas are usually in a line, but yes, that group was in a circle, and was visibly disintegrating. Basically if the antenna is standing on an insulator then you should assume its "on". The Balls you describe I remember, they allow a lightning bolt to find a ground without actually grounding the towers electrification, like the ring in a ring described above. Lightning hits the tower and then arcs over that short distance between the balls (or rings) to the ground, without any direct contact to the ground. The lightning is discharged, the electronics of the transmitter are isolated from the lightnings path to ground, and the antenna continues to transmit uninterrupted. Yuri, the master, and Den, the low puller, will rule your area and an understanding of local european objects; if they havent jumped it, it must have fallen down. You guys rock in the hardcore department. Ps. I wouldnt play with am antennas to see if you can draw an arc from it, although some people suggest dragging a finger across it quickly to test it, this is like sticking a paperclip in an electrical outlet to see if its on or not. Even if it doesnt blow you to pieces, the electrical flash from such an arc has the ability to burn your retina. Please dont put metal stuff between an active antenna and any ground. Treat it as though it were live, even if it is a derelict ruins like the moscow site. Also, although that site was military (according to Den) a commercial am antenna will have listed hours of operation. The call signs or registration number should allow you to make an innocent call to the station to check on its status or to see if the broadcast day ends at a certain time, after which the antenna may be off. Still sounds like a lot of work, when you can always just go jump KGB buildings anytime! ps. Inviting Tom Aiello over for a mushroom hunt (he loves sauteed mushrooms), and then casually and nonchalantly shoving him into the antenna body will instantly determine whether it is on or not. This has the added bonus of feeding Zennie who is perpetually trying to roast different things in different ways, and who always has a packet of hot dogs in his glove compartment for just such an occasion. cya

    AM Antennas

Something that tall is typically an FM antenna, most of the hazard is associated with the top stinger, and with the directional side transmitters (pods, drums, or dishes), or with any secondary stingers (omnidirectional transmitters). The antenna body (girderwork) is just a platform providing heighth to maximize signal strength over distance. Much of the climb shields you from much of the radiation because you are behind and beneath main transmission elements. Am Transmitters tend to be smaller, and tend to occur in groups of 2,3, or 4 identical antennas with the same light scheme flashing simultaneously. The hazard traditionally is two-fold; one, the entire body of the antenna framework is used to transmit a signal, not just a stinger or whip on the top, hence exposure to electromagnetic radiation occurs uniformly from the ground up, exposing you for the duration of the climb (where an fm concentrates exposure only around transmission elements (top stinger, side mounted arrays, pods, dishes, drums, and whips) the intensity of which increases the closer or higher you get to these points.) And two, for an AM transmitter to put out its signal, it modulates the amplitude of a "carrier wave" with the signals "intelligence" (music, sports, christian nonsense, etc.). To produce the "carrier wave" the entire body of the antenna is literally electrified, when attenuated by the top, an echo of the signals modulation folds away in the electromagnetic spectrum radiating from the entire body of the antenna. Long story short, if you touch the antenna while standing on the ground or in contact with anything uninsulated you will be electrocuted. These are not necessarily popular BASE destinations. Both Am and FM antennas come in two major forms: guy wired and freestanding. Or an antenna body which is held up by cables versus a pylon or pyramid shaped structure which supports its own dimensions internally. Typically the AM antenna that is guyed will always have multiple little black or grey "balls" or insulators visible on the cables. So there will be an antenna, then cable, then a little black ball connector then cable, then black ball, then more cable. This is a dead giveaway for the FM guyed tower. Dont mistake orange beach balls for insulator balls. Many guyed towers have these big colored beach balls on the wires to make them visible for crop dusting low flying pilots, and also because Tom Aiello is mesmerized by large orange things and will typically forget about jumping when confronted with evil orange. The freestander is a little less obvious. Small, probably unjumpable heights in this category can occur by itself (a single antenna), but very typically Am antennas of a jumpable height have a strong tendency to be in groups (like elephants or whales or prostitutes, or Tom Aiellos). They are all of the same type and height, with an identical light system which flashes all the antenna's lights simultaneously. These groups in the US tend to be in two's, three's, or four's all in the same area. Examined up close AM antennas will usually have a black insulator at the base (guyed and freestanding) although the freestander may be difficult to see. Also the freestander will have odd things at the bottom on one or more of the legs of the pylon, including massive magicians ring thru a ring perpendicular to each other, or wand like whips extending up from near the base. Also, because AM stations have smaller audiences and are less profitable, they have a tendency to have small, crappy, wooden fences around them, or even no fence at all, compared to their wealthier cousins the FM's which tend to have "cyclone" link fences with barbed wire, metal poles, etc. The AM towers fence can be as ridiculous as a three foot high white picket fence with no barbed wire. Or a Tom Aiello in a wingsuit. The general philosophy of jumping both antenna types involves "get up, get off, and get away" to minimize exposure time, but because of the risk of electrocution on AM towers, typically people just say "stay away". To jump these you must get on the metal tower without ever touching the ground or anything in contact with the ground at any time in the process, requiring jumping on to the tower from some insulated base and grabbing non grounded antenna without flailing, stepping off, steadying yourself with anything grounded or the like due to imbalance or error. And yes, I drew a white arc off one freestander long ago by bending a grounded part of the antenna close to an electrified part of the antenna. To sum up. Use the elevator if possible to minimize exposure. Dont rest near any pods, drums, dishes, or arrays on the antenna as you ascend. Never get in front of any transmission element as some of these are putting out a focused beam pointing away from the tower. Never touch the stinger on top of the tower (if there is one) and in fact, never ascend higher than the metal dais at the base of the stinger or above ladder accessability. Tend to stay away from the very top, and exit from 50 or hundred feet beneath the top. If you suspect an AM antenna, move on to the next jump site, Or get Tom Aiello to short it out for you. Get up, get off, get away. Dont get caught. Lastly, take the antennas registration information, or Serial number or call sign to research further information on it, particularly on www.berkana.com or with the FCC. Enjoy!
  20. If you, um, give me the nearest highway exit number, Im sure that I could have a look at it, or something. For the good of the basejumping community. Like, next time Im through....
  21. Ill be coming through, staying at the ameritel which does have free wireless internet. A lot of places do.
  22. Uh. The bandaids are for BREAK-CORD. duh! You did say "water tower" right? PS>Thanks for the private e-mail. That was, um, special....but, uh, no, I wont hold your hand for a quarter. cya, brother
  23. Is there follow up on the men? What was the final outcome? Chronic means ongoing, lesion i believe is often used synonymous with "tumor". As temporary effects the symptomology I would think is acceptable, as chronic or terminal I would think not. Jumping Houstons 10 million watt stuff is the only antenna I have had any kind of problem with whether related or no (dry eyes and hazing, plus scattered thinking) although other people have claimed their antenna makes them sick, (FM) , when I have jumped them I have felt nothing nor seen or felt the warming, or electrical discharges some have mentioned. thanks.

I use the Leica LRF 800, and like it. Its flat, light, and has an illuminated display, although the red can be hard to read in daylight against a white or light colored object. Tends to read a little lower than reality...
