Thats freaky Jevco, You just described my whole life exactly. Working many different jobs for "stimulation and entertainment", moving to places blind not knowing anyone there, or having a job set up beforehand, traveling exhaustively and adventuring, etc. I used to deep country off the trail cross country solo backpack. After camp was set up, (never with a fire or lights or a tent), Id walk off into the woods and stand there listening to the silence and watching the stars without moving. So quietly in the near jet black that once I noticed a very dim and almost subliminal pattern of dots moving through the dark, dots which my mind suddenly assembled into a wolf when it was less than 20 feet away, right in front of me. The funny thing was it hadnt noticed me and was as scared of me as I was of it. We both became aware of each other at almost the exact same time and LEAPT back from eachother scrambling with an exclamation. So laughably identical a response it was near mirrorlike. He took off running, leaving me with a pounding invigorated heart, and a representative memory of the wonders and joys of the deep dark woods, solemn majesty. I think we'd understand each other, exactly...

Very high likelihood of my being trapped in Temple, Texas area tonite 3/25. Jumped two rigs in Texas last nite, have one slider off/down rig remaining unless I can repack for tonite. Hey Omar. I had to accelerate coming into Moab because of maintenance issues with the truck, and freight schedules out of slc. Im still here now, but will be leaving monday. Last two days have been pretty windy, and Im beaten up enough from openings and climbing... Jimarta werent in. Door locked and Close sign. But someone was tearing up the south side of the stone house to either a) renovate it, or b) break in and steal stuff. Um. So maybe they know when vertigo will return. No other base jumpers here that I saw, but maybe clint is at the dropzone? Sorry. I thought zennie had you covered...

Hey Dave, Moab was cool the first 2 days. Knocked off enough solos to be sore as crap. Then the wind set in. Spent hours hanging out today at various sites talking to myself waiting for the wind to knock it off!!! Supposed to be 15-25 mph tommorrow (Monday), so Ill bail after I jump out my rigs at first light, and head up to slc. I called Greg and gave him your phone number, but Ill try and hook up with you Monday afternoonish (probably windy as crap) or Tuesday morning to make sure greg hooks up with you or an object. Lets do it, man!

The list is maintained to honor and remember our friends and fellow jumpers, not to disrupt the business intent of certain individuals in this community. Putting up such a post to pressure an individual into complying with anothers wishes is a seperate thread indeed, but Nick is an individual and a respected base jumper in the community. As Nick honors our fallen, Base jumping honors the individual and the individuals spirit and independence. We honor rebels and freedom, not censorship and peer pressure. We deal with reality, not imaginary beliefs and business corporate interests. I am not a supporter of padding corners for others, or softening the world to make things more pallatable; I support the truth. Unless Nick is lying or reporting falsely he should continue to do as he wishes and pleases. Against the mainstream or against the commercial interests of the base parasites who sell mugs and t-shirts on websites and stand only to profit from suppressing truth, in order to garner greater public support. People die in base, people get injured.Its a reality. Its our choice and our freedom to do so. The public doesnt need deception or sugar coating. It needs a lesson in taking responsibility for its actions in the real world. Trying to craft an impression that base is safe and death free is wrong and ridiculous. Keep the list up, Nick. Some of us still jump less than legal sites and make no profit from administering and "leading" the sport, which should remain non commercial. And some of us like having our friends remembered by many and all. Good day.
