When you get enough jumps to put a still on your head , you'll realize the xt is what you want on your head. The other camera is a great camera but to heavy. Take your time and learn from the local photographers 1st. Carbon fiber is very strong. I wouldn't see a problem with the xtra holes. But if your that concerned with it i'd place a piece of carbon fiber on the inside of the helmet instead of aluminum. If you need mt to i have some here i can cut it to what you want and mail it to you . Think of it this way if you have a hard enough opening that you fear the camera getting ripped from your head. Do you really want it to stay attached to your head. Personally i'd want it to come off . Like Dave has said this isn't even close to being a solution to a one box camera setup for everything. I strive for my photography to be the best and i want the best equipment for the job . I think it's a pretty simple concept here guys! :) Even if you can get the video to shoot stills your only going to get what about 4 or 5 photo's of crappy quality in free fall if your lucky! Do you really want to sell that to a customer? I would buy the cx100 without hesitation. I'd get at least a 100 jumps with the video then worry about buying the still camera later when the price of it will come down then anyways. The only thing a camera which does bothe video and stills is good for is an unusual situation where you had to take the stills from the video or something of that effect. Still camera's are for taking photography. Video is for shooting video's . Don't try to do both with them. You won't do a professional job like that , IMO. In addition to what spot said . Try just removing and reattaching the lens. Dirty contacts or poor connection between body and lens will cause this type error if i remember correctly. I might also add you won't pickup a camera setup any cheaper than those i sent you. I don't think you'll find anything so cheap or ready to go. Personally i'd buy the bonehead with the pc9 . Nice little setup for your 1st camera or just plain ol fun jumping. Wes made me a quote of over $1100.00 just for the mounts and plate .I just couldn't justify that .I made mine for about 200.00 including the strobo plates. That depends on what canopy your jumping . You would be amazed how well balanced that set up is too. It isnt as heavy as you would think it is. It is all about weight transfer and balance . Front mounted still camera is the worst thing on your neck. A heavy lens and stuff out there gives it more torque to injure you. AHHHH Helmet envy! I love this set up right up until i saw the vertical flash mount on the side. Why couldn't the flash go on top in the center like it mounted horizontal? It looks really sweet though. I never shoot vertical stills to much though. I have mine mounted horizontal but i also have a vertical mount for the flash too .
