  1. Happy Birthday Johnny, We hope you have a good one today. Take Care, Frank & Eliz PS - You need to do more CRW this year!
  2. Go Sikorsky, Gutshall and Backus! Sounds like just the hot event for you guys, bet it will be fun to observe too.
  3. Thanks man, you guys are a great bunch and I know he'll have fun with you. Those CSS weekends we all had going are certainly missed this year so far. Maybe we can get something going again?
  4. Thats cool of you Chuck, you guys will be great fun for him to be around. He is light on a 143 at 1.29, fun to jump with and really into learning CRW, a pleasure to teach. Can see from this thread that he's gotten a true "welcome" to CRW also, lol. Kinda thing only CRW Dogs can relate to!
  5. Like Wendy said, it's pretty much the norm now. I use them and prefer it for myself actually.
  6. Dear Vic, Laurie, CRW Campers and CRW Dogs that attended -- A bit of rain (ok a lot of rain!) did it's best to dampen all of our spirits but I really had a great weekend at Skydive Statesboro with you all. I send my praises out to the enthusiastic Beginner /Intermediate CRW Pups that attended, all of you remind me /us why we love to teach CRW to such eager and responsive students. Thank You for attending the camp Dana, Tim, Richard, Jay, Damien and Clint --it was a pleasure. All of you were so easy to teach and I hope that you will all continue on in CRW so we see you again at future events! Many thanks to coaches Dave and Chris for your support and for being a part of this camp, your experience and input are most appreciated -- Thanks also to Nina Tharp, Fred Tarr, Don Bromely, Bob Felt (with lovely Linda), Ray Frazier and Bob Reger for their attendance and support while for spending the weekend with us Georgia. It's a true example of what CRW Dogs really are about when they arrive at a camp like this and offer any and all help they can provide. You all gave the participants of this camp such a good welcome to the CRW family and as a result, I feel most if not all will be doing CRW again very soon! Our hosts made us feel welcome and special in addition to showing what best describes true Southern Hospitality. From moment of arrival to our goodbyes we were made comfortable, given space and equipment to present our class, a packing area for ourselves, provided with up to the minute weather and aricraft advisories (great job Vic), nourished on an assortment of snacks, beverages, pizza and fed a delicious feast on Saturday night that was more than we could ask for. With the surprise appearance of Paul Bliss, all in attendance enjoyed the feast and shared great company and few cold beers after a good day! (Hope you feel better soon Laurel, I hear they have you signed up for Firewood Carrying 101?) Your comments, post camp questions and feedback will only serve to improve what I am working hard to do, please don't hesitate to contact me also if I can be of any one-on-one assistance to any of you. Again, Thank You and -- Take Care, Frank Hate to leave anyone out, sorry about the brainlock T . Thanks also to T Lavonne! (Trying to get this email out to everyone before heading to work after things got dried out enough for me to get up on a ladder.)

  10. Sure I would, don't really care if there is a coffin in it but you'd have dress in goth-like makeup and attire! So, you have a lot of time to sit and ponder this today? I feel your pain there, not working today and bored out of my head. Take Care, Frank
  11. We all enjoyed seeing that as much as you did being in it too Amanda! There is always a spare 143 for you to use until you think you are ready for a 126 and I'd be tickled to jump with you anytime we are out your way. Happy Holidays from us both, HI to your Dad too. Take Care, FRank Fowler

  16. I had a great weekend at Skydive Carolina and send my praises out to all the CRW Pups that attended, you are all why many of us love to teach CRW to eager and responsive newbies. All of you were so easy to teach and I hope that many of you continue so we see you at future events! Thank You Randy, Steve V #1, Steve V #2, Derek, Dean, Johnny, Judy, Brenda and James --it was a pleasure. Many thanks also to Buz, Chris, Nina, Steve and Reger for their support and for spending a wonderful, sunny weekend with Elizabeth & I in Chester, SC. I am thrilled that I simply asked for help and my CRW buddies/family came to give it, you all gave this camp so much that the participants could learn something from and as a result of what we did there most if not all of them hopefully will want to do CRW again! Camp Summary -- With (9) registered attendees, the (3) instructors and (3) back-up CRW Dogs made 11-13 jumps each, with zero wraps, one slow-speed collision when a pup tried to dock on a 6-stack --he shot an approach to the pilot (Buz) who had four others below him. The dock was at a 45 degree angle and only resulted in the bottom three dropping off in an orderly fashion. We had two very talented women jumping 113s. Both of whom are quite experienced freefallers (1500-5500 jumps), and seem rather interested in furthering their CRW skills. They both demonstrated an ability to work up to being on the women's world record, if they get some more training and experience in the coming year. Out of the remaining jumpers, there may be three or four who will seek more CRW experience, 2-3 who may become part of the CRW Dog brethren. Quotes from the Camp Instructors -- "We had some of the most naturally talented CRW-pups I have encountered in my 7 years of teaching CRW camps." "I am very hopeful that the two female CRW pups decide to train for the Women's World record. They have the talent ... all they need is to dedicate the time." "Off DZ landings are fairly common in beginner camps, despite perfect spotting. But when you know how to fly your canopy (the greatest skill taught at these camps), and how each minor input (toggles, rear-risers, front risers ... or any combination) affects the flying characteristics of that canopy ... off DZ landings are not a major concern." "The staff of Skydive Carolina, the other jumpers and the whuffos were extremely polite, helpful and accommodating to our needs and desires. They made me feel as welcome as if I were at my home DZ." "I would love to return to Skydive Carolina to teach another beginner's CRW camp, or even an intermediate-level camp." "The 'No-Wrap CRW' we teach nowadays is vastly different from the experimental CRW practiced 15 years ago. Though we train vigorously on how to deal with wraps, we focus on the skills required to safely dock a canopy on a body. The instructors are adept at placing themselves (or allowing the student to place themselves) in a position where a wrap may occur."
