  1. I'm sorry to say that you have not shown me anything more than what Rush Limbaugh has been spouting for weeks now. Give me details, numbers, negotiation dates, Union demands. I can already read your rhetoric on Rush's webpage right now. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 2. We're getting change all right - he's changing before our very eyes, from the image he portrayed to get your vote during the election, to what he really is - a die-hard extremist liberal. What? Because he doesn't have time for church there is something wrong? Is that really your rallying point for this? Protip: You keep your faith even if you don't visit an arbitrary brick building once a week. It's more on how you live your life and treat others. Sounds more to me you are just an extremist looking for anything to pound home. This is by far the dumbest and weakest thing you have tried to hang your hat on so far. But keep going, I'm enjoying the comedy of it. If the guy is just skipping church is the biggest issue of the day, let's just say that over half of the country won't care. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 3. Have you read the application at all or are you going off NRA talking points again? The application asks for a variety of sensitive issues including any screen names you have used on any and all websites. I talked to someone I know at the DoD and another fellow that works for the FBI. Both of them told me they have no idea why the application is news to anyone as the process has essentially been the same for every top level position in the White House staff and those that support them. One of them told me that their 8th grade science teacher was interviewed about something that showed up on their radar. But, go ahead and continue to build some sort of anti Obama thing out of this as well. Does that tinfoil hat begin to smell after wearing it for this long? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 4. Hannity is exposing NOTHING. All he does is play a country song, a bunch of clips and repeats the same shit over and over and over and over and over and over and over. It's all spin and it's all bullshit. OBAMA IS NOT IN OFFICE YET. Are people policy? Has he had a chance as the POTUS to enact change? I hate to tell you this but there are only so many people that are qualified to work in the White House and even less that would pass the vetting process. And if Obama made choices like Palin, someone that was a destructive force with no experience and no education you know for a fact that Hannity would be all over him for being impulsive and reckless. No matter what Obama does Hannity will spin it as a negative. The AG appointment came in while Hannity was live and he instantly went into a 15 minute rant about how terrible this is. He had the fucking rant ready to go with no facts and was able to just plug anyone's name into it. That is how he plays his game. Protip: Wait till someone is on the job before you start to evaluate his performance. Come back to me after his first 30, 60 and 90 days and tell me what a fuck up he is. Again. Hannity is nothing but a noise maker and has yet to say something valid in the last two weeks. And all of his talking points come right from Rush Limbaugh's show that is on earlier in the day. However Rush does a better job of extending 2 talking points into 4 hours of bullshit than Hannity does. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 6. Except for the inner south which seems to be about the same as it was in the 1800s. And this time you have people disguised as a sane voice for their party spreading the venom over 50,000 watt radio stations in every city around the country. There is a real concern for what they are doing and the damage it will cause. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 7. Interesting, you think another Eisenhower style project will be part of Obama's plan? The future particulars may change 1.5 years out from now but the echoes of them will be there to make a platform out of them. They will still be relevant for the next 2 election cycles at the very least. And yes, the conservative talk radio is just as destructive and fear/anger inspiring as Palin was in her final weeks. They don't want to destroy the country but they want the fear of that happening to inspire votes back towards the right. It reminds me of what the KKK does to inspire fear in the ignorant so they can recruit more. You really should take some time to tune in to some of these popular conservative hosts. You will be disgusted by what they are doing. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  8. Is Scalia goes, then Clarence Thomas will have to go too. I mean, that man can't do anything without Scalia. I realise that the makeup of the SCOTUS won't change dramatically, but what it will do it cement the liberal wing of it in place for decades. Next after them, the oldest are the conservatives. If Obama gets a 2nd term there is a chance he could replace maybe one of them. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 9. nobody but Obama knows what he meant by change. he would have had to either show a trac record of voting in the senate or lay out specifics of his policy during the campain, of which he did niether. so anything that he does that doesn't duplicate Bush is a change in his eyes. Actually, it is pretty easy to predict. I previously posted this voting analysis done by OpenCongress.org Obama voted with the Dem party 98% of the time. Obama voted with Clinton 96% of the time. Considering what the last 8 years have been in the White House, that is literally change. But see, the right is upset it's not "center-right" governance because from their POV that's what the country is (even thou the country largely voted center-left). What you are missing out on here Bill is what FoxNews is telling the conservatives. Every moment they can, they are saying Obama is a failure and is "under the control of the radical left." Funny. The man isn't even in office yet. They should have left their spin for Jan 09. Now they just look like clowns. I've been meaning to work on a GOP talking point flow chart. They are rather predictable on every topic right now. They are preaching fear, using about 4 sets of stats out of context to give them just a small bit of credit, and they are trying to cause mass panic so 2 years from now people will vote GOP again. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 10. By Andy Borowitz In the first two weeks since the election, President-elect Barack Obama has broken with a tradition established over the past eight years through his controversial use of complete sentences, political observers say. Millions of Americans who watched Mr. Obama's appearance on CBS's 60 Minutes on Sunday witnessed the president-elect's unorthodox verbal tick, which had Mr. Obama employing grammatically correct sentences virtually every time he opened his mouth. But Mr. Obama's decision to use complete sentences in his public pronouncements carries with it certain risks, since after the last eight years many Americans may find his odd speaking style jarring. According to presidential historian Davis Logsdon of the University of Minnesota, some Americans might find it "alienating" to have a president who speaks English as if it were his first language. "Every time Obama opens his mouth, his subjects and verbs are in agreement," says Mr. Logsdon. "If he keeps it up, he is running the risk of sounding like an elitist." The historian said that if Mr. Obama insists on using complete sentences in his speeches, the public may find itself saying, "Okay, subject, predicate, subject predicate -- we get it, stop showing off." The president-elect's stubborn insistence on using complete sentences has already attracted a rebuke from one of his harshest critics, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska. "Talking with complete sentences there and also too talking in a way that ordinary Americans like Joe the Plumber and Tito the Builder can't really do there, I think needing to do that isn't tapping into what Americans are needing also," she said. Andy Borowitz is a comedian and writer whose work appears in The New Yorker and The New York Times, and at his award-winning humor site, BorowitzReport.com. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 11. Oh hey, look. Sean Hannity's opening line from his show yesterday. No, I'm not joking. The puppet show continues on the right. Edit: Just to note, I listen to all conservative talk, watch a lot of Fox News and read right leaning blogs. I may soon have a weekly column on a popular blog as well. I'm going to make sure the idiots are kept in line and prevent them from manipulating the populace once again. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 12. It won't change the balance in the SCOTUS however. Let me know when Scalia leaves and I'll throw a party. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  13. By the looks of things, Clinton's administration is going to have another shot at it. John Podesta Rahm Emanuel Eric Holder Possibly Hillary The change is overwhelming. Did the GOP complain when Bush Jr hired all of Daddy's flunkys that helped lead this country to ruin? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 14. Detroit is pretty smart on this whole problem. Let's look at their analysis from a report the provided to congress: So, ya. Despite everyone claiming oil prices will go up again by next summer, they feel we will keep buying SUV's as every day cars. I guess this means we will see the H4 soon?? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  15. Just "wow". My nephew didn't start as an attorney at $40. Times change. In 1999 if you could spell SQL DBA you could charge nearly $55/hour. After 9 months of training at the same time I found a job with IBM just shy of six figures. That same job now pays $28.50. Salaries are all over the board and I can tell you this due to the amount of resumes and people I go through on any given workday. None of this has a wow factor to it at all. I have people with 5 years of experience from one company coming to me on a daily basis thinking they deserve $100k jobs. Meanwhile, consultants with 20 years experience with more depth and more current technology come in at real prices. Salaries, like job titles, are arbitrary things. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

  20. Funny, as soon as I saw this thread I said outloud the following: The conservatives will be talking about class envy or union issues. Why? That's all Hannity, Rush and O'Reilly have been talking about the last week or so. In fact, most of Rush's show yesterday was about the evils of unions and how they are the reason of failure for the auto industry. It's funny seeing people spout off the talking points. Hey, here are some facts about the Detroit Union: As of 2006 there is no more pension for new hires. As of 2006 they earn significantly less. There is no more $40/hour entry level pay and it's more around $15/hour and they will be lucky to be up to $25/hour by retirement if they keep their jobs that long. But, I love how 30 years of mismanagement and refusing to retool and put out better cars in the 70s, 80s, and 90s is the union's fault. I love how the mismanagement not to go to better fuel mileage cars is the union's fault. I love how spending billions in sendoffs to failed C-levels is the union's fault. Interesting that Toyota and Honda both use Unions workers in the USA and don't have the same problems. Here is an idea: Have OPEC and the other oil companies bailout Detroit. They have been in bed with them and made business choices due to their influences, so why shouldn't they? But you know what? If Obama doesn't push for money to go to Detroit and the entire US auto industry fails and nearly 5% of the current workforce is unemployed and another 3-5% of retired workers lose their pensions.....do you think they will blame Obama for this or the Unions or maybe where the blame should go (hint:Detroit management). BTW, I love how GM claims they were trying to change and show the Cobalt as their example. Bravo! I can see how they expect a four year rotation of cars to mend 30 years of mismanagement. Idiots. All of them. And now we get to bail them out and we will never see our money returned to us. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 21. Wow, are you kidding me? The fact that our president is friends with a man who is unrepentant about bombing various buildings and only wished he would've done more. You know the saying, you become like the people you surround yourself with? Funny thing about that Ayers quote.....context. Go listen to the entire interview and stop listening to talking points that are meant to inspire you off of anger and fear. Then go look up everything there is about G Gordon Liddy and the connections he has with McCain. There was and is no connection to be concerned about. But if you prefer to walk about with a tin foil hat on, then so be it. What's really frustrating here is how many people prefer to lean on their fear and anger and be part of the mob instead of educating themselves. This is what concerns me more than anything else. Nothing good comes from that. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

  23. Embedding reporters to record history and not sway the election has been a bit of a tradition for 20 or so years. They embargo it via contract until the election is official. Not all campaigns let this happen either. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

  25. Well, not sure what your motivation was but I think Chicago looked like a world class city that was prepared to help usher in a refreshing new chapter to this country. In fact, it may have given us one more thing to help land the Olympics in 2016. Not sure if it made the news elsewhere, but people started lining up the night before. They had to open the gates for the northern field 5 hours early due to the size of the crowd. The southern field opened up 2.5 hours early due to the same reasons. A good portion of that crowd had been standing around doing nothing for nearly 7 hours before Obama finally came out to celebrate his victory. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
