Every day since Obama won there has been talk of how Blago was doing some wrong things with the decision process and the press hounded him every day. Meanwhile Blago has been mad with power telling Bank of America it was going to pull all of the State's business if they didn't re-establish a credit line for a failing local business this past week. Meanwhile Dick Durbin sat down and discussed things with BoA that led to the company getting it's pension restored with partial credit from the bank. Just a few days ago Daley was claiming that Chicago would never see the infrastructure repair dollars if the Fed gave it to the state instead of the city. He was pounding his fist in a frenzy over how Blago would lock up the money in a political power play and didn't care how many workers locally got screwed. I never voted for Blago but I certainly wanted change from George Ryan and was hoping to get more of Jim Thompson or Jim Ryan back in office. I would have been happy to see Judy Barr Topinka get elected in over Blago. Why does this happen in IL? Well, alot of it is due to the way the state is laid out. In Northern IL you have a population that leads the nation in living their entire lives here. Therefore family tradition and politics get passed on from generation to generation....as do the government jobs. In Central/Southern IL you have a sparsely populated towns that are fed by farm life and mostly conservative beliefs. It's the perfect storm for politicians to abuse for seats of power here. I've linked the story on these boards before, but the CIA debunked that proof before 9/11. It was also debunked by an Italian reporter at the same time as that was the original source of the proof. I think 60 Minutes covered the story a couple years back but no one could answer why fictional data was passed on to the White House as fact. The only thing close to proof that they ignored those reports are what Gen Clark claims in his book (that previous to 9/11 war with Iraq was already being planned for). For the most part Bill is done with the Foundation until Hillary is out of the White House. It will be severely limited due to lack of foreign donations and the Obama staff has to approve his schedule first. He also has to step down from day to day operations. I think that's what many people are worried about. It annoyed me to hear Obama talk yesterday in broad terms like (us, we, our, this) whereas Hillary made it all about her (me, I, mine, my). I'm expecting a different tune from the conservatives. The New Republic and Rush both had positive things to say about this. Rush feels it was a shrewed move that shows a more aggressive side to Obama that he didn't expect. He's impressed that Obama took away the best candidate to run against him in the 2012 primary. Then TNR is cheering "Hawks for Hillary" because they think she will continue the Neo Con foreign agenda. Jim Jones is getting bashed on rumors that he is a Big Oil puppet. I'm still shocked to hear the talking heads say positive things about a Clinton and even more surprised to see so many other conservatives follow along. Reflection is a fun little thing to do when people on the internet are acting outrageous and I tend to find it a far better avenue to get my point across. The trick is not making it obvious. And, more specifically, would add that a person who really thinks that strict attendance of "organized worship services" is a critical component to their faith, perhaps really doesn't understand faith at all. .jim This is exactly what I have been saying! Church is not school. They do not take attendance every week and then hand it in to God to prove you are a devout Christian. Remember, that devout means a few things in this context: Sincere about your beliefs or displaying reverence also fit. You can maintain the religious demands without attending a weekly service and there are plenty of examples in history. If you are so strict in your beliefs it only takes a member of the clergy to issue you dispensation from some of these rulesets. This alone shows how arbitrary some of them are. I don't know if she would be bad for us, I don't know if she will be good. I know I wasn't going to vote for her but I'll be honest to admit it wasn't all political that made me swing that way. The Clinton family doesn't represent what this country is about, nor does the Bush family. I'd like to see them leave DC as soon as possible. However, I'll leave the choice to Obama. So, yes or no: Do you agree with legal action being taken against the Bush admin under the pretense that they abused their power to break constitutional laws? Mind you, it's just a lawsuit and would be dismissed if they are found innocent. And there is nothing to disagree with. Obama's birth certificate was already vetted and ruled upon by a lesser court. This will go no where because there is no issue. Even McCain ruled it as foolish pursuit.
