1. I'm assuming that the 250 jumps listed in your profile refers to skydives, since if you had 250 BASE jumps and were still asking this question I'd wonder how you were still alive-- Based on your presumed skill levels/low jump numbers, I'd put you on a MINIMUM of a 240. Of course this also depends on the type of jumps you primarily do/will do, as well. What type of objects do you jump, mostly? What sort of terrain are you landing in? How high above sea level do you live? All things to take into consideration. You'd feel pretty stupid about saving all that money on your canopy when you're in traction and fiending for painkillers. The bottom line: How much time do you have under a parachute? Would you say you've "mastered" any particular canopy(ies) in either discipline? If you answer yes, I suggest you halt your BASE career and go make another 500-1000 jumps. good luck, pope

The best shot in C-2

that was definitely a cool shot--taken from an exit at the big stone in italy--There are definitely plans for shots of that nature for the next release--stay tuned! As for the guy that got pushed, he landed, did a couple of high fives, and went about his day. He's now resumed his career as a porn star and is currently starring with Rocco Sifredi in the upcoming release "Rooftop Man; Extreme Backdoor Action" (not a triax flick, I should point out). cheers, pope
3. way to kill a perfectly good thread. Man--I wish you would have told me this 10 years ago! I NEVER would have taken up Skydiving and BASE!!! Oh well... pope
4. short, but ummmm...interesting. http://www.triaxproductions.com/trailers.htm edit: changed link by request of original poster ~TA
5. There's a dedicated "bonus feature" on the new Continuum II DVD where Jimmy at Vertgo talks about changing brake settings--very informative. pope
6. I hear ya JJ-- ...BTW my previously mentioned jumps were on a 225 and a 244 with a 42" PC, and I recognize that different sized canopies take different times to inflate, but my point was that given the differences in the height and type of jumps, that the differences between our opening heights should not have been THAT dramatic. I still had at LEAST a five second canopy ride. Anyhow, sorry about yer ass . Could've been worse--I heard about a guy that was in a similar situation as you, but landed on a BRANCH--and we're talking cornhole, NOT the fleshy part. I wouldn't even put that on a carnage reel! pope
7. That sounds to me like someone fucked up your PCA--230' is PLENTY of time to inflate an unvented 322. Do you have video? Let's see it! I know I've freefallen 210 with an unvented Fox with no problems...

Anyone know how to get ahold of him, soon, please let me know thanks, pope
9. What's wrong with THIS opening? http://www.triaxproductions.com/trailers.htm this is one of many similar [ahem] jumps at Bridge Day this year. edit: changed link by request of original poster ~TA
10. Thanks for the props on the movie! There were 3 jumpers in tracking suits in C2--all of their own design. If it was a bright orange/red suit, it was either PerFlare or Martin. If he was wearing Black and Red, it was Rob K (one of the naturally best trackers on the planet IMHO--with or without a suit) All of those guys are top notch at what they do and totally helping to push the limits of subterminal body-flight...it was so cool getting a chance to film--and jump with them! Glad you enjoyed it! pope
11. there's a good section of C2 that shows tracking suit body positions quite well...

14. So, let's say you need to overfly an Aussie landing area to get to that wide-open, flat landing area (as is found in many places in Moab), in a moderate/stiff headwind. Would you rather land your bigger canopy in the gnarly talus then have a higher wingloading help to make the preferred landing area? Depending on the distance needed to clear the fray, I'd rather have a higher wingload and make it back. I know there is no catch all canopy, but my point was this--big canopies are not OK ALL of the time. You can still get into trouble by having too LIGHT a wingloading. If one really wants to get the odds in one's favor when landing--they need to go out and improve their canopy skills. Smaller canopies are OK when you have the skill to fly them correctly, and landing areas suitable to do so, IMHO. [the right answer to this question for most of course is to not jump in the first place in questionable conditions, but hypothetically...] pope
15. I'm not a fan of censorship at all...I am however, a HUGE fan of having the freedoms we are lucky enough to have in the US. Bridge Day is what it is. If anyone thinks they can't handle the rules, then they are free to NOT GO TO BRIDGE DAY... Pretty simple--Bridge Day is a LEGAL, ONE-DAY event--There are those who are trying to make it legal ALL-YEAR-ROUND. I suspect that's why the emphasis on what you call "censorship." I call it public image--it makes a difference when you need to get stuff done through legal channels I've been told.
16. Gotcha. No, all the split screen/PIP stuff was done in Final Cut. Takes about 10 min to do. It's really just a matter of editing in an environment that you're comfortable with--I like FCP. Glad you enjoyed C2! pope
17. Just a quick note to let everyone know that BOTH of the Bridge Day 2004 videos (The Standard and the "Boogie" Style) are available for order at http://www.triaxproductions.com The same package prices that were offered at BD2004 apply. We anticipate finished products being mailed the first week of Janurary, 2005. Any questions can be directed to [email protected] ENJOY!

Song On C2

we have a winner. Johnny-tell him what he's won! "A BRAND NEW, FACTORY SEALED, COPY OF THE TRIAX FLICK CONTINUUM II!"
19. Yes, I edited Continuum II on this machine. Still not certain about the "slick" transitions--It sounds like it's an iMovie plugin or something along those lines--I don't do iMovie for the most part, with the exception of if I have to edit a tandem video non-linear. As I said in another post, if you describe which transition(s) you are talking about (ie: which section, what they looked like) I could answer your question a bit better. There were 3 sections of C2 that were edited on iMovie AND FCP4 by someone other than me. They may have used what you are talking about. PM me if you want... cheers, pope
20. Dual G4 1.42 GhZ PowerMac 2G SDRAM 1.2 TB on 7 drives Superdrive FCP4 DVDSP2 Adobe CS After Effects Motion Reason Pro Tools Quark Flash Fireworks etc... This has been a kick ass setup for editing, but I'm still upgrading (expanding) to a dual G5 first of the year. My recommendation is to go with a G5 and the Apple Production Suite. The most helpful upgrade to my current system? In terms of editing would be a better deck and video monitor, and some self-powered speakers/mixer. pope
21. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT MOAB IS NOT A PLACE FOR JUST ANYONE!!! THE CLIFFS OF MOAB ARE NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE RELATIVE SAFETY OF A BRIDGE OVER WATER!!!!! Please remember this when dispensing "where to go" advice on this forum. have fun.- pope

Song On C2

Ummmm, in theory, yes...however whatever asshole authored the DVD somehow neglected to put that one artist/title in the music credits-- what a dork. pope
23. no worries- I'm just curious what part you are talking about--can you describe it (the transition)? At what point in the movie does it happen? pope
