  1. Darwin must be on vacation http://www.ohio.com/news/break_news/112597714.html CLEMSON, S.C.: A man has been hospitalized after police in South Carolina say he was hit by an SUV while playing a real-life version of the video game Frogger. Authorities said the 23-year-old man was taken to a hospital in Anderson after he was struck at around 9 p.m. Monday. In the Frogger arcade game, players move frogs through traffic on a busy road and through a hazard-filled river. Before he was hit, police say the man had been discussing the game with his friends. Chief Jimmy Dixon says the man yelled ''go'' and darted into oncoming traffic in the four-lane highway. No charges are expected against the driver. The name of the man who was struck has not been released. He was in stable condition Monday night.
  2. Well, if your dumb like me you'll need these word definitions I got from Wiki after reading the entire thing: asceticism - lifestyle characterized by the aim of pursuing religious and spiritual goals bourgeois - describes a range of groups across history direst - superlative of dire priori - a type of constructed language commissar - is the English transliteration of an official title aghast - Filled with horror or shock polymorphous perversity -a psychoanalytic term for human ability to gain sexual gratification outside socially normative sexual behaviors HOOK TURN is a traffic-control mechanism where cars that would normally have to turn across oncoming traffic are made to turn across all lanes of traffic instead. ...yes check Wiki sweet Jesus Skyrider! I have to read it again before I can begin to understand it..
  3. Why not? 2 points: 1. A hungry family that enjoys a hot meal/soup kitchen could give 2 shits about why you volunteered, 2, Depending on the field of study, listing charitable work and volunteer activities are often put on resumes. All in all, it's likely that if someone volunteers for a number of reasons, they truly enjoy giving back and would probably do it for that reason alone.
  4. Beer summit complete. I had PBR and Labrys had miller light. We talked gays, voip, swooping, and the florida keys. Kelly didn't let me spend a dime either.
  5. Sounds like you were raised with and have a kickass work ethic. I've heard this many times before. My problem with this statement is that when you trade work for money, it's just that, a trade. So as individual commodities they each respectively have value that can increase or decrease. It seems to me that a person's work is simply worth what someone else will pay for it. Like someone saying "we had to lower the asking price of our house to less than it's worth" -newsflash- your house is worth what someone will buy it for. However these are virtues of true free market capitalism. Here in Ohio dirtwork pays about 9/hr. But Union dirtwork pays 31/hr. And there aren't many union dirtworkers, except for when an employer wins a govt contract and pays prevailing wage..yada yada..tax payers pay 31/hr for dirtwork...yada yada. Uh oh..my posts are creeping up on my jump numbers!
  6. I recall (many years ago) a family friend bragging about how she slept off her hangovers in the crane cab at union steel. What if there was a Skydiving Instructors Union...
  7. I don't know. Trying to stay truly informed is tough for me. I try to catch some FOX, some MSNBC and SC for info on issues that affect my way of life. I think certain people/posters on both sides of the isle are generally more informed than others... would you agree?
  8. I'm sorry about your lovely wife. I don't wish to deteriorate this thread either. And I have secret respect for you as a fellow r/c guy
  9. Actually it doesn't! I make 22k/yr and probably are happier than you :)
  10. I wouldn't know because I don't get invited to these 'elitist' parties. I'm just common folk.
  11. Fascinating thread folks, please keep it going.
  12. Billvon, I take your point. But I'm going to revise Amazon's post that I replied to: Now I can't argue the above.
  13. wait until you see my festive bathroom and kitchen colors. I am going for a fabulous European color scheme with hints of rustic Americana and pumpkin spice.
  14. Don't worry, Labrys will rip me one when I see her
  15. Ouch! you got me there. Because there are no gays in the military and no same-sex marriages.
  16. Yes, Frank's next week. And I'll grab the projector when I throw plates on the truck (and shovel the snow out of the bed). We can set it up in my living room, get it working, then check out fox news. . Do you have any NIC's/sound cards laying around that would work on win2k?
  17. my bad x2. theres a foot of snow on my roof and I'm grumpy
  18. It appears I misread your post. You were talking about entrapment, not bombing. My bad
  19. Nope. So I guess I can't answer HappyThought's "when will it end?"
  20. don't know that one. I am white though. And proud to be white, just like my black friends are proud to be black. I have some in-between friends too.
  21. For you it will end when you move to a country that is without terror threats. Until then, be thankful that men and women are working 24/7 to keep your country safe. If you don't like that approach then vote for folks who are against national security. If you really want to make an organic statement stop buying products associated with oil.
  22. Didn't want to go this direction but.. I have longtime gay and minority friends and I'm not quite sure what "right's" they are not afforded... In fact, many of my gay/minority friends are doing better than me.
  23. Please don't throw cell phone (or car) batteries at Lebron. Don't rush the huddle or the paint. Let's just boo loudly and let Miami kick our ass. I'll be watching from the safety of a mexican restaurant.
  24. I've been following this in Ohio. Incredibly f'd up.
