  1. i did some searching and it seems that the .50 being barred from use against personnel is a well-circulated myth. apparently, the geneva convention usually prohibits types of weapons and modification of approved weapons instead of specific weapons themselves. the most credible source i found was part of a powerpoint presentation from the usmc (a .mil url). i was told the myth by fellow nco's back when i was in from '95 to '00. just goes to show, don't believe everything you hear, right? 2. it's in the geneva convention matto... did they teach you that the barrett was a machine gun as i stated in my original post? what sniper school did you go to? the one i went to had bolt action rifles. 4. WP injures due to its high temperature, not due to a chemical reaction. technically, burns are a chemical reaction but, i don't think that burns are considered a chemical reaction in this context. 5. it's also illegal to shoot people with a .50 caliber machine gun. it's only for light vehicles. anyway, white phosphorus is not a chemical weapon by current definitions. it is used because phosphorus oxidizes in air so violently that the temperatures reached in the reaction are high enough to destroy sensitive equipment and the like. if you consider white phosphorus to be a chemical weapon, then bullets are a chemical weapon too as they are comprised of atoms. 10. neither...they both had a shot and they both revealed themselves to be mostly politicians instead of mostly leaders. although, it's extremely hard to be a leader when the population is only interested in 'yes-men" instead of wise leadership (ie. what's best for the country, not the individual). 12. 1) keep an eye on the horizon/ground; 2) jump with someone who is better than you because that person will tell you in freefall if you're orbiting and that person will be able to tell you if your body position is wierd. that being said, andrea has a good point in that if your profile is correct, you should be learning how to fly a sit. the reason is that it gives you a stable freefly position to learn other things safely, such as flying hd. the potential exists for you to collide with and seriously hurt yourself and someone else from a botched head down attempt whereas, in a sit, you can't achieve the same horizontal velocities. 18. i think she meant that the president has an OBLIGATION to help AMERICANS, not the rest of the world. if we can, great; if not, maybe next year. of course, there's always the vast book full of private charities that americans donate to.
