  1. About 100 Js: We exited @ 1,500, raining out, and I had just had my brake lines adjusted shorter. Plus the pilot had to turn as ask the spotter, "Are you still here?" Worse, the spotter slipped when he put his hand on the strut, tumbled for a 5 sec delay, and watched his canopy open that usually snivels for about 1000 ft. But we all landed safe and wet. -------------- The less a man makes declarative statements, the less apt he is to look foolish in retrospect

  3. Other reviews have already addressed the issue of friendliness at this DZ, so I won't beat the dead horse. What put me off so much about this place was the lack of concern with safety. I went to ASC with around 50 jumps and an A licence. I was given some advice on the landing area (or lack there-of) from the staff, which was appreciated. However, once being manifested and heading towards the aircraft, no one on the load asked for or offered a gear check. Once in the plane, no one wore seat belts except for the pilot. I asked, but no one could even find one for me to put on and it was clear that some of the jumpers found this kind of concern humorous. This attitude is not acceptable in our sport; friendliness is based on personality and can be overlooked, but attention to the safety of all skydivers is essential to keeping low numbers of injuries and fatalities.

    Beer or Liquor?

When you drink, you get drunk. Once you're drunk, you pass out. When you're passed out, you don't sin. when you don't sin, you go to heaven. Soooo....let's all get drunk and go to heaven! Colorado microbrews have the best beer ever. Every time i go there i (drink too much and) don't want to leave. Dillon Dam, Tommyknockers, Fat Tire....mmmmm. And how the hell coors is the trademark of colorado is beyond me. Some friends lived in michigan long ago and used to drive out west every year just to get that chit. Damn, now i get to go home to some pissy bud light. (don't yell at me...it's all my roommate drinks -------------- The less a man makes declarative statements, the less apt he is to look foolish in retrospect

  9. This is funny...last weekend I jumped with a friend of mine in Greensburg, IN and he actually hit a bird in freefall! He had no idea at the time, but he had a big knot on his elbow that he couldn't figure out. Then he found the feathers attached to his jumpsuit. Your title seemed appropriate for this.... -------------- The less a man makes declarative statements, the less apt he is to look foolish in retrospect
  10. Oh, the plight of the floater.... When is it too early to start using weights? Having just around 50 jumps, most people I've talked to have said I should wait, exhaust all of my bodily resources learning to fly faster before I go rely on weights to speed my slow butt up. Last weekend, however I met a girl built very much like me: tall and slender. She told me that she worked hard on a faster fall rate, but, of course, there's only so much you can do. But her argument was that she wasted many jumps by not using weights, thus not learning how to really fly her body. If you're so concentrated on staying with your RW group, it takes your focus away from making the points and learning how to use your body to do that. I've improved my fall rate greatly over the last 20 jumps, but I feel like I'm facing a wall now trying to go through it. Suggestions? -------------- The less a man makes declarative statements, the less apt he is to look foolish in retrospect
