  1. In response to some of the above questions: BOC: Yes, BOC is recommended for normal skydiving, back flying and aerials. Actually the pull will be slightly easier for the BOC than with the S3 because the wing is shorter. The ribs add only a slight resistance as you collapse your wings. Infact there is only one mylar rib in each arm wing, the very end rib. Due to the construction, there is no need for additional support. By holding the wingtip gripper tension goes from the last plastic reinforced rib to all of the other ribs in line (triangular tension rule) The winglet is long but it stays behind out of the way and doesn't cause problems when reaching for the PC. F-111: F111 is incorporated in the inside of the arm wing to reduce the weight and to increase the comfort. All the flying surfaces use ZP balloon material or Dacron. Somebody who can fly a GTi without problems should be able to step into a V-1 (the V-1 manual will discuss this area in detail). (edited to add more detail)
  2. But the Phoenix Fly beginner/intermediate wingsuit that will be released next year will be
  3. Q. Is the V-1 suitable as my first wingsuit? A. No, but the Phoenix Fly beginner/ intermediate wingsuit that will be released next year will be. (new design concept)
  4. I know that Robi is writing the manual at the moment - it will clarify all these questions, we just have to hang on a little bit longer.... grrrrrrr

  12. Thank you ManHawk for a truelly memorable jump!! Long flights, J Next trip you'll become a minute man
  13. I had the pleasure of accompanying ManHawk for his first WS BASE flight. The dodgy camera work was also mine . ManHawk did an excellent job. I was most impressed with his attitude, approach and preparation - a good role model. MH flies like a missile - the sound was incredible (louder than me) Making the bar will not be a problem when you come next year I also picked up some tips on position as I'm still a way off that magic 2.5 GR ManHawk is truelly at one with the birds...
  14. I used to have the same problem with my mac - until CP pointed out there is a Mac version of mediaplayer you can download for free!!!
  15. Because: 42 + 8 = 50 Ok a more serious response... Q. Why 50? A. 50 jumps seemed like a good number, the minimum (in our opinion) for a heads up, focused jumper to develop the skills required. But like people have already said, its the quality that counts not the quantity. Hence why we put 50 jumps ++ and a list of skills/ attributes. 5 jumps = reckless 100 jumps = nobody is going to wait that long BASE jumpers aren't very good at following "rules" and even worse at following "advice" We hope people reading the document will be self critical.. "do I have those skills?" "do I still get really nervous at the exit point?" "does my tracking suck?" If I do an update I may add: ---------------------------------- Ask yourself - "Do I satisfy all of these requirements?" and "Do I feel ready?" If you have any doubts ask that experienced WS BASE jumper who you want to be your mentor - " Am I ready?" ---------------------------------- Long flights, J
  16. Lou, permission granted. This document is for free distribution to everyone wishing to read it! It is already on Blinc and is mirrored twice. Long flights, James Boole
  17. I know this is only half relevant to this forum but I have met some wingsuit skydivers recently who are starting BASE jumping just so that they can wingsuit BASE..... ------------------------------------------------------------------ Together with several other wingsuit BASE jumpers I have written some guidelines for BASE jumpers thinking about starting wingsuit BASE. The pdf file can be dowloaded from - you need to do a right click -> "save target as": http://members.fortunecity.com/unclecharlie/wsbase1.pdf Note the file requires Adobe Acrobat 6 or later. You can download Adobe Acrobat from: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html If you have any constructive comments please email, PM or post. I hope this document generates some discussion. Long flights, J
