  1. I used to think that it would be a bad idea to legalize any of the drugs. Then I saw the movie Traffic. Our current course on drugs in this country is hopeless. I don't have the answer but I know something needs to change. Edited to add: In my teens and early 20's I drew the line at injecting myself with anything...other than that it was all good. I get it...you guys are talking about having more than 1 person involved. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  3. What was new was the AMOUNT and level of corruption during the REpublican Rubber Stamp Congress... The Family values party... I guess this is what passes for republican family values.. over and over the same story.. corruption..infidelity....paedophilia... And I know that really pisses off Mike who wants so bad to be a true believer in what they told him. Republican, Democrat...makes no difference. There are scumbags on both sides of the aisle. 5. I see it every night...and not just on shootings. There are 3 local newscasts in my area. 2 of them report the news, the third acts as if it's reporting something more than the news. I can't explain it...you have to see and compare to understand. It's like its not a news broadcast, it's a show that does news. I wish I could explain it better than this. Anyways, it bothers me. I'm certain they try to make the story seem more important than it is. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  6. It's all part of the cycle. It's happened before and it'll happen again. Just like the market. People bought homes at ridiculous prices betting that the real estate market would continue to increase. Oops. Banks loaned money on over-inflated appraisals. Oops. I remember when I re-fied my home in 2000 to lower my payment. The bank said it needed to appraise at XX and guess what...it appraised at XX...to the dime. Then they tried to give me all this extra money that would have made the payment the same as it was before. Glad I didn't take the bait. Many do. The problem I have with the whole deal is the gov't involvement at all. It's obviuosly an election year tactic. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  7. A wise choice. Many people think travel agents are expensive when in reality the opposite is true. I'll bet your agent will present you with choices you never thought of at prices that'll make you say Hmmm Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  8. Just a general observation: Expedia's prices run $300 or more over what a travel agent can get for you. They are not the deal they make themselves out to be. Example: 7 nights at the Grand Esmeralda Blue Bay in Cancun departing Mar 29th from CLE. A travel agent can get you this trip for about $1100 per person complete. Expedia charges $1527 per person for the same trip. And it's not just this trip. I see it all the time. Yes, I'm biased but you are not wrong using the services of a travel agent, any travel agent. 10. Got it. The interface for entering the trip info is a bit clunky and doesn't allow for that type of editing. Is there an html code for that? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  11. I think so. WHen the description gets past the accompanying picture it defaults to the right below the pic? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  15. Thanks. Unfortunately alot of money has been sunk in that logo (cards, stationary etc.) so changing it now is not something I want to consider. What about the functionality? Is it confusing? If you knew what kind of trip you were looking for would it be easy or hard to find? Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

  17. I think getting out at 2 grand should be a pre-requisite for getting a license. I laugh when I hear people saying "my canopy takes 1500 ft to open", so I'll use my reserve at a grand. Do more hop-n-pops and see just how much altitude it takes your canopy to open right off the step. I'll bet it's nowhere near what it is at terminal. I always thought the only reason you'd use your reserve vs. your main at that altitude was reliability. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  18. What is your definition of an organized dive. I've gone on plenty of 4, 6, 8, 12 way "organized" dives where this issue was never discussed. You're right about everyone having different opinions and that's the "point" of this thread. I'm sure there's people who never go low and can't get back up so they don't even consider what they'd do in this situation. How many collisions do you remember over the span of your jump career? Seems like there's one or two every year and I think it comes from being in a position that you don't have a plan for. As far as I can see the 2007 SIM only addresses the issue like this: 3. Opening: a. The pull should be preceded by a distinct wave-off to signal jumpers who may be above. b. During the wave-off, one should look down and to the sides to ensure that the area is clear. c. The low person has the right-of-way, both in freefall and under canopy. There's alot missing here. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  19. Ah the plight of the modern traveler. Someone who travels often enough ought to employ a travel agent...then they can spend the time on the phone instead of you, and they don't charge extra for it either..it's their job. Alot of tickets these days are no cancellable or transferable. Hope you don't get caught in that trick bag. BTW...Travelocity, Expedia...all suck badly when it comes to customer service. 21. That used to be the consensus but somewhere along the road it got lost. Maybe it's because every FF jump I see looks like a funnel Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  22. I disagree. I think we'll be out in droves this year regardless of who the Dems float. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
  23. Just because you think you are an excellent tracker doesn't mean that people with thousands of jumps more than you will think that you are. Yup...almost everybody is a newbie to some! I think D~1 has something like 50 consecutive years of jumping. If you've been on an SOS record you'll also know there are also some old timers who track like bricks. I resemble that remark However, no-one should pride themselves on their tracking skills until they can out-track, say, Rook Nelson. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne
