Well, hopefully i'll be going to Nottingham anyway, so therefore i'll be 10 miles away from BPSLanger. But either way i am studying Maths. I was told Devon and Somerset is about an hour away from Bristol, how far is Nethers? Ed [email protected] if u wanna reply straight, hehe

Hiya Kaz, I did jump last year at Headcorn ... will be ma "home" DZ if/when (oh please i hope my mum says ok!!!!) i do AFF this summer. But depending on where i go to uni i'll have a surrogate DZ hehe First choice nottingham = langer Second choice bristol = devon and somerset DZ so i'm doing pretty ok, i read about people having to drive 6hrs... never grumbling about 70mins down the M11 ever again! heh if i go to nottingham (A in F Maths required ) then i'll be 15mins away Ed

you one mad frog froggie Sounds kool... only have to wait another year to be old enuff for a tatooe Ed
  6. HI skreamer.. i take your point but there are also a heckofvalot of small DZ's that ppl graduate from AFF then go somewhere big... I intentionally "tried" to stay away from hookturns but my general point was that the better everyone is under canopy, the better we all are safety wise

  10. I think you are in for a slightly rocky ride concerning replies about the hook turning.... personally (having jumped nothing smaller than a 250 ie only doing simple spirals) i cannot comment on hook turns... but as for basically making new students better canopy flyers.. has to be a good thing.... I would say that when people get newly qualified from AFF at maybe their small home DZ... where they have maybe only 2-3 canopie anywhere near them, it's gotta be almost dangerous for some of them to suddenly go somewhere like Eloy or Elinsore and jump where there are going to be many more (i would presume) ... so anything that makes this awesome sport safer has to be a good thing! On another introduction... I've been reading these threads but only recently have started contributing a fair bit... I'm Ed, from the UK, 14jumps on s/l hoping to do AFF in July... doing A-levels... very bored of school.... wub reading these threads Lo everyone
  12. Omri !!1 Wicked wicked man, you can easily tell how much you've been waiting for this, now instead of 2 years, 3 weeks!!! have fun for me up there. Ed
  13. lmao at previous post 1) desperately wannabe skydiver! 2) (fairly) studious worker 3) sporty guy Ed
  14. Since i was about... hmm 12 i've wanted to do a jump. When i was just 15 (still one year too young in the UK) my friend did a round static line, very very jealous. Then well, just a mannar of waiting for the rest of the year, and booking that course FJC on a wet windy rainy crappy english january day, first jump .... didn't happen the next day. Waited for about 3 weeks, did my first jump with a wicked JM. Did another 13 that year (last year), then AFF this summer (I hope) Blue Skies soft PLF's Carrie Ed
  15. I do hope it's worth it, but i am guessing it is, from the responses of people like... froggie and lazerq when they do their jumps, wow, sounds like a blast!! A question i have though, people talk about T3 and T4. I thought with AFF or variations you either do one or two tandems then the course? or is there another slight variation... along this line if i become qualified with a BPA A lisence, will i have any troubles jumping @ USPA DZ's? Ed
  16. I am fairly certain that i read about AIF somewhere on these boards... but not 100% anyway, thanx very much about the information regarding AFP Mattb, useful to know, but in my case being in england, andnot old enough to jump at those Dz's anyway I think AFF should suit me fine, and then i guess i'll learn the other stuff afterwards. To be honest, once i go to university i hopefully should be 12 miles away from a DZ
  17. Which DZ got closed? I know a load of cows were culled really near Headcorn, but i dunno whether that affected the DZ ? Ed
  18. Ok, i have heard mention all these different names for freefall courses, and i presume they are all based on hte "standard" which is AFF, or am i wrong? I know that in the UK AFF is (could be slightly wrong) 3jumps with two JM's 4 with one, and a QJ from 7k' But, in Spain the first jump is a tandem, then 3 with 2JM 3 with 1JM and a hop n pop to qualify (once more may be slightly wrong ) So what are these AFP and AIF, are they better? cheaper? worth considering doing that instead of either the Uk or Spanish versions of AFF ? Me very confused Please enlighten me
  19. Sorry, but this sort of stereotypical view really gets up my nose I have worn glasses since i was two, and until a couple of years ago i used to hate it, as they were big and clunky, shelled out £120 and got myself some nice slim "designer" glasses, if you think you look "Like a dork" then you can't have much self confidence.... /me apologises if this sounds too harsh. Ed
  20. now, i think this is a good thing
  21. Thanx for the reply, i already have my own goggles because i have done 14 jumps last year, (over one year since i left the realm of whuffos ) I think i will get some gloves hopefully (nothing certain yet, although i do have the cash....) when i go to do AFF. We shall see though, i should have enough to get my own jumpsuit and light weight helmet, then for my 18th in december try and convince my parents to buy me a second hand rig until i get out of university and start earning.... here's to years of scrimping and saving Ed
  22. quite a lot i would say
