  1. Anyone happen to know the url for the skydiving magazine "Jump"? I think it's an Italian magazine, but I could be wrong. Any help is appreciated. Leon
  2. It was all intentional. This was the "Water Displacement" round. joke Seriously though, my moto is "fly it 'til you land it" or splash into the water....whichever comes first.. That's why my hands are still in the toggles. My main goal, after resigning myself to the fact that this was not going to be my greatest swoop and that I was NOT going to make it out of the pond, was to not hit the side of the pond....to stay as close to the middle as possible. You can't give up just because you displace about four hundred gallons of water with your lower body!! here's the next shot from the series.... (I read the manual and learned that clicky thing. http://www.elsinoreeclipse.com/photos/splash1.jpg If you look closely you can see my shoe starting to come off. And if you had the hi-res version and zoomed it in, you could see that the lense from my sunglasses had popped out. So what did I learn from all that?.....The fabled Lady of The Pond is a mean, mean bitch. ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  3. Hey! Just ran across this thread..... 1) That's me. We were shooting a film for the Fly Boyz Film Festival where I was supposed to be like this really popular dust devil chaser guy with all the chix......definitely a hard role for me to play, seeing as how I'm as popular as unpopular can be... 2) Not showing up for the keys boogie has definitely put me in the fabled doghouse.... 3) Laurel....i'll always love ya babe, and my bed is that much more cozy having been slept in by you...there's always room there for you..... 4) I'll examine you anytime Rosa!!!! I didn't even know this picture was on the elsinore website......wanna see a shot that truly represents my talents and skills check out this one!!! http://www.elsinoreeclipse.com/photos/ouch1.jpg Sorry....don't know how to do that clicky thing.... ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."

  6. I WISH our Cyberguards were "only" in a test lab!!!! ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  7. Of the firewalls mentioned and the environment you described, I would probably go with the Cisco PIX. Although the Cisco PIX is "only" a stateful packet filtering firewall, it is not any less secure than an application proxy firewall such as Gauntlet or Sidewinder. (Marketing guys and sales reps will try to have you believe stateful packet filtering firewalls are less secure, but don't buy into the hype!) The Cisco PIX is one of the very few appliance firewalls that's not over priced. As far as configuration goes, if you are familiar with Cisco routers and somewhat knowledgeable of acl's, you could probably make the PIX do what you want it to do with minimal training. The PIX also uses conduits, which are, without going into technical details, backwards from acl's. There is also a big push nowadays to run splt DNS. The Cisco PIX can now support a true split DNS configuration. Another major reason I recommend the PIX is because other firewalls such as Gauntlet and Cyberguard sit on a Unix platform, Solaris, BSDI, and in the case of the Cyberguard, SCO (although they claim to have locked it down and made their own proprietary flavor). Unix based firewalls, although I love Gauntlet to death, require a higher learning curve whenever new personnel/security engineers are brought in. If VPNs are required the PIX can support all the things you would need, except, and someone correct me if I am wrong, they cannot use DoD certs for authentication????? This may have changed though....if DoD certs are required (which I doubt they are) then you probably wanna contact Cisco to find out if they can support them. Hope this helps, and no I don't work for Cisco!!
  8. I was gonna make them breakfast but they all snuck out in the wee hours of the morning. I woke up and they were all gone...... So now they need to come back to let me make breakfast....and allison owes for a "birthday" dinner that wasn't her birthday dinner..... ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  9. That's right folks, two Pink Mafia sisters in my bed at the same time! Laurel and Allisonjr!!! Yummy yummy yummy...... The fact I was ostracized to the couch downstairs means nothing to me! They were in my bed and it's the luckiest bed in the world!
  10. Chronicles III is the video with the chix washing the plane. Charles Bryan and a number of other freefly pioneers made it. Kinda old, but still one of my favorite videos. The whole Chronicles series kicks ass, but my personal favorite is Chronicles II. As far as PG rated videos check out the Airspeed Documentary, Freefly Millinem II, Crosswind, and Good Stuff. There are a bunch of others but those come to mind....... ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  11. I think you should.....I mean what would a Chicks Rock Boogie be without one of the most riockingest chix I know? Megan from Orange is coming, and I'm picking her up in San Diego that Friday, so you should come too..!!!
  12. Hey man, glad you had a good time out here and definitely glad to see that you made it home after you guyses marathon driving schedule! Good meeting you and I look forward to running into you somewhere out there in the future....... ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  13. ya know.....i think i might know the julie you are talking about. extremely cool chick? jumps at perris, elsinore, and skydive san diego? i say hi to her every time i see her elsinore or if i'm down at skydive san diego......and i just noticed her wearing a deguello team suit about a week ago. really cool girl.....and from what i hear an awesome flyer. ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  14. I guess I could give that freeflying stuff a try. I'm in as a hanger...... ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  15. Well I do operate my camera a little differently from most. I turn it on right as I'm climbing out. I then turn it off right after I open and make sure everything is ok with my canopy. For debriefing I always plug into a tv, never use the lcd cause that sucks a lot of energy. I do check the time left on the battery, but don't change it until around ten minutes remain. Sorry Quade, I didn't know he meant it would last at least 8 jumps, I thought maybe he was told 8 jumps max on one battery or something. Then again, a TRV could require more power than a PC-100....I don't know, and since you jump a TRV, you would know more about the battery life/time than me.... And you are right, there is nothing worse than a video failure due to a spent battery......except falling off the plane before your tandem is even in the door....... ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  16. 8 jumps? huh? not really sure where you got your info but that doesn't sound at all right to me. I have a pc-100, uses M-series also, and 1 battery will last me all weekend. Take into account also that most weekends I am training we make about 20 jumps, we then review each jump for about 3-5 minutes each. This includes rewinding, pausing, slow motion, rewinding, pausing, fast forwarding, rewinding...etc etc etc etc. Sometimes, it will run out towards the end of the second day, but there have been plenty of weekends where it lasted no prob. It is best to have a second one also. One thing that you really want to avoid doing is re-charging a battery that is not completely spent. The lithium batteries are not supposed to build up a memory, but believe me....they do! So before charging, just make sure the battery is completely drained. Also, you may want to invest in a slow charger. Slow chargers give a better charge and it's better for the battery in the long run. I've had one of my batteries for over two years now and it still works as good as new. ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  17. Lambert! You sonofabitch....you're outta line! Leon here saying hi from the left coast! Man, I can't wait to see you in a few weeks at the 2nd Fabulous Annual Boogie In Orange!!!! I'm not on any of the Orange lists, that's why I missed Traps whole trying out for the VA state record thing......don't worry man, Cali isn't making me soft or anything! See you soon bro! ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  18. Yeah...their song "Got You Where I Want You" did get some good airplay. The guy on the cover is Nikki, he used to jump at Elsinore but not anymore. Pretty good band but never did make it big. ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  19. I wear mine 24/7. It was made and given to me by the strikingly beautiful dove, who posts here quite often. It's made of hemp so I do take it off to wash it in the dishwasher sometimes, besides that it's always on. It definitely increases my aerial jiggitude and I need all the help I can get! ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  20. Man oh man! I hope there is NO mention of the pink helmet incident in that article! Congrats babe! See ya when ya get better! ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  21. I've traveled MANY times with my rig slung over my shoulder. Flying out of San Diego, LAX, Seattle, Dulles, and BWI, Reagan Int'l.......never once had a problem. I did, however, get stopped at LAX once when I had my rig in a carry on case. They made me open it and held me up for like five minutes. Weird thing was though, they totally ignored the hook knife on the chest strap. I didn't realize I left it on there until they pulled it out of the case and I saw it hanging there. I decided not to point it out, and after looking over my rig, they let me go. I think it's all luck of the draw whether you carry it in a bag or on your shoulder, you still have the same chances of getting stopped. Just in my case I have had better luck without a carry on bag(where's a piece of wood!). Some have even mentioned if you carry it on your shoulder, it seems as though you are not trying to hide it. I don't know. Just don't pull something crazy like packing in the waiting area. Either way, the choice is yours...... ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  22. I was living in Cali and a group of like ten friends decided to make a tandem skydive. On the big day, seven backed out. So there were three of us. Somehow or another we decided that we wouldn't go either. Instead, the three of us took up SCUBA diving. I did it for years, diving the SoCal Coast, Florida, Australia, Japan, Indonesia.......and a few other places too. A few years later, I moved to Virginia. Didn't have any dive spots readily accessible, so I needed something to fill my weekends. I planned on making one skydive just to "get the t-shirt" but I fell in love with it. I actually thought about quitting at one point during my student progression, but didn't. Sold my SCUBA gear to help pay for my first rig too! Not a terribly interesting story, but my story nonetheless...... See you guys aroud! ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  23. There are probably a few zillion things that I would like to learn how to do: The following is a short list (I hope) with a brief explanation of why: I Would Like To Learn How To..... 1. .......Uncork A Bottle Of Wine Without Nailing Myself In The Head When The Cork Finally Gives. NOTHING...and I mean NOTHING is more uncool or embarrassing when trying to impress the opposite sex with your gracefulness, or lack thereof, only to wind up with a black eye and wine on the carpet. 2. .......Play The Piano. Everyone either a) already knows how to play the guitar or b) wants to know how to play the guitar. Nothing against the guitar, it's just that I have this memory of walking into a bar once with a buddy and he started playing the piano that was there. Very impressive. I had no idea he knew how to play the piano. The piano is just a cool instrument in my book. 3. .......Not Wash Red Things With White Socks. Seems like after 28 years I would learn....but as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, if I buy a new red shirt it WILL wind up in the washer with some white socks. And as sure as the sun will set tomorrow, I will run out of socks and be forced to wear the splotchy pink pair produced by the ill fated wash load out in public someday! 4. .......Speak French. I know with all this anti-French stuff going on it may not be the popular choice, but I still want to learn how to speak it. Tout est bleu! 5. .......Tell When Something is Too Hot To Eat. Temperature wise I mean. Doesn't it suck to take a bite of something only to have it burn the crap out of your tongue and tastebuds making it virtually impossible for you to taste, much less enjoy, the rest of your meal? And that whole trying to roll it to the other side of your mouth thing never works. It only aids the scorching hot food in burning the entire surface of your tongue and possibly some of the opposite cheek. It also makes you look really silly. We all have the same expression when we do it, it's called the "O Face" and should be reserved for the bedroom and never shown in public. I really hate that. 6. ........Express Myself Better. Sometimes I find myself at a loss for words. I want to expand my vocabulary so that I can be more descriptive and detailed when trying to convey a feeling or image. 7. .......Refer to Number 6. See....ran outta words. Hope I didn't ramble too much. See you guys around! ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  24. About three years ago a friend of mine named Ric Dennis showed me a video. I can't remember the name of it, or them because I think it was actually two videos. The things that stood out to me were 1) The r-dub suits looked a lot like todays freefly suits, and 2) the soundtrack. Apparently it was an all original score. One of the songs went something like: "Skydive, Feeling alive. Running against the wind. Skydive, Feeling alive. Hoping it will never end" And then at the end of the video some guy is sitting at his desk doing some work with his back to the camera. He then turns to look at the camera and says. "SKYDIVE!" and the video ends. Sky Masters? Something Masters? It had what Ric told me was called an "Enterprise Jump" on it and a bunch of other cool stuff. Anyone know the names of these videos by any chance? Can they still be purchased? Thanks in advance ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
  25. Man I tell ya......wear a pink helmet once and you NEVER live it down!!!! Haven't seen you since Bridge The Gap! Where ya been? I'm always down for playing in the sky, just let me know when and what load! ---------------------------- "Insert witty quote here."
