  1. Do you approve of Pope Benedict XVI and his conservative politics? I'll keep this to a "yes" or "no", if you're undecided please don't vote. edit: typo Ich betrachte die Religion als Krankheit, als Quelle unnennbaren Elends für die menschliche Rasse. 2. Good read... scary and funny. Reminds me of something eh someone... argh... better not. Damn psycho bitch from hell... I'm going to my happy place now... 3. No. But psychopathy is neither a mental illness nor a disability. It is "other." You said it's an inborn defect. Now it's "other"? You're just dodging the conclusion of your own principle. How about this: For clarification you could make a list with different birth defects which make the newborn less than human. With the advancements in genetics we might be able to sort them out in the first weeks of pregnancy, that would also be cheaper than killing them AFTER they've done harm as an adult. I'm drawing conclusions from your principle. No slippery slope here, just applying YOUR logic. edit4typo Ich betrachte die Religion als Krankheit, als Quelle unnennbaren Elends für die menschliche Rasse. (Bertrand Russell, engl. 4. No. Anyone != psychopath. Also, the issue is not "responsibility" but "humanity". Ich betrachte die Religion als Krankheit, als Quelle unnennbaren Elends für die menschliche Rasse. (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  5. You still dodge answering a simple question, because it exposes the heart of the matter. I ask it again: Are people that are born with a mental illness or disability (or defect for that matter) any less human than you or I? Yes or no? In my book it's a mental illness caused by physical defects and/or other reasons still under research. The exact definition is not important to me, I'll let the scientists sort that out. Illness or defect or disability or clinical state or whatever it is, it doesn't change anything from the fact that we're talking about humans. But I'll rest my case, I know I can't convince you anyway. You obviously have an issue with "psychopaths". 6. According to you, Falko. But there are professionals who do not agree. They're human by definition (you know my principle.) Professionals may talk about and categorize illnesses and their cures all day long, but I won't acknowledge anyone who arrogates to define what kind of behaviour qualifies a person as being "human". There is one concensus in the scientific world though, which is if one is born from human parents, they are human. That goes for psychopaths also. If they are born psychopathic they are born with a mental illness. Many people are born with many illnesses and disabilities each day everywhere. Are they any less human than you or I? Now I'm looking forward to THAT answer, and please be so kind as to answer with "yes" or "no" and don't dodge it. It's a simple question. I hope your answer is not something like "of course people that were born with a disability are NOT less human... unless they're psychopaths." I'm not arguing a certain illness, I'm arguing a principle which is that every person is human no matter what their defectiveness is. Well posting misanthropy in this forum won't alleviate anything. All it does is potentially influence people to adapt your divisive thoughts. What kind of question is that? Of course I'd wipe them out, exterminate them... we germans are professionals, you remember? No just kidding... I don't intend to do anything more than what I already do, which is paying my taxes and my health insurance, both which ensures that there will be ongoing scientific health research. *beeep* ... the "you don't know what you're talking about" argument. Is that an argument at all or only an attack? Ich betrachte die Religion als Krankheit, als Quelle unnennbaren Elends für die menschliche Rasse. (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  7. Well a certain part of your bowel surely is, but I never said you are _full_ of shit. I just said you were _talking_ bullshit. If that's not funny to you I apologize, germans have no humour you remember? I believe that you believe you're bloodthirsty. Deep down inside you're actually quite nice and not bloodthirsty and maybe you even stop on the boardwalk to pick up a flower once in a while. 8. Reality is that psychopaths are as human as you and I. That reality would come to haunt you in the end, no matter how hard you tried to twist your perception of a human being into... well, into what? If they're not human, what are they to you anyway? Walking mindless pieces of flesh? Sounds like you have a beef with psychopaths. At least you don't miss any opportunity in this forum to point out your contempt. The blight on society is not the person which is being wiped out, but the notion that blights on society can actually be wiped out instead of dealing with their causes. I'm not horrified, I just pity your misanthropy. Ich betrachte die Religion als Krankheit, als Quelle unnennbaren Elends für die menschliche Rasse. (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  9. Because you have (or at least should have) some sort of identification with your kind, that is unless you don't perceive yourself as human. That sort of identification is (or at least should) be unique in comparison to any other living being. I think killing someone you identify with would be like killing a part of yourself. That's an impact on _your_ life that has the potential to haunt and bother you forever. Well that doesn't need to make sense to you, but it does to me. It's nothing personal and you don't need to prove that you'd feel the same whether you kill a human or an animal. (Well I could challenge you, but that would be kinda sick wouldn't it ) All I know is that you're human. I assume that you are more empathic than the so-called "sociopaths" who you condemn in other threads. Since you have the ability to be empathic with your fellow kind, my conclusion is that killing a human will have a significant effect on yourself. If it had not, you'd be as much of a "sociopath" in my book like anyone else who kills without a twinge of conscience. 10. I call Bullshit. Doesn't matter if you like animals more than people (which is not politically correct but somehow understandable). My bet though is you _would_ hesitate. It's different if it's an "animal" of your own kind. Killing a homo sapiens is different than killing, for example, a felidae. I assume you are sensitive, so I'm willing to bet that killing a human (even if they needed it) would haunt you forever. 12. I read about that case in the german news. I'm also very curious as for the outcome. I'm only 29 so maybe I will live to see when the last of the western civilizations finally and permanently abolishes the death penalty. It's about time. 14. Happy new year!! I'm not bored, that's the problem with Sudoku... I should be doing something more productive Weather sucks right now, but maybe on Sunday I'm going to jump in Spa or Zwartberg. 15. They're actually pretty simple: Enter digits from 1 to 9 into the blank spaces. Every row must contain one of each digit. So must every column, as must every 3x3 square. You will discover the solution techniques yourself inevitably if you practice, but if you want a detailed explanation, check out the Wikipedia article about Sudoku. Clean logic is something beautiful. What also amazes me is how fast one learns... when I started, I was so disappointed by my times (around 10-15 minutes). Now that I've done almost 100 puzzles, I'm down to 3:14 minutes as of yesterday. What I also discovered is that one stops finding the missing numbers by counting. For example "1...2..3-missing...4...5...6missing,7missing...8,9". Which is a very slow technique. Today I just look at a block and I immediately see "aha: 3,6,7 are missing". Scanning within a block is easy. Scanning within a row is also easy but takes a second longer... and I find that when scanning a column I still need to "count" sometimes. 16. I was about to ask "how", then I saw the "Select a Puzzle" link. Cheating is lame. Soduko is addictive... someone help me... please Ich betrachte die Religion als Krankheit, als Quelle unnennbaren Elends für die menschliche Rasse. (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  17. to the OP: well said. I absolutely agree
  18. What's your WEBSUDOKU record? Post a screenshot... come one... get me depressed! My fastest time for a level 1 is 3:35mins. Did I say my eyes hurt? 19. Ian, your ability to start shit is amazing. But it does get old... this thread is pathetic. To everyone else: Why do you bother "reasoning" with him? His intent is not "discussion" or "learning", it's just stirring shit and getting attention. I think I will post a request to Sangiro about a blacklist feature in the user profiles, where one could block threads/posts of certain users. Would make this board much more readable, otherwise I predict a gruesome end like rec.skydiving. Ich betrachte die Religion als Krankheit, als Quelle unnennbaren Elends für die menschliche Rasse. 20. Do you take offense by my statement? Where's your point, that it doesn't make a difference if you smoke or not, because everyone dies anyway, for reasons we cannot influence? I'm not saying that people who don't smoke will be guaranteed to live longer, I said non-smokers have a higher chance of not dying by lung cancer. That's not a joke, it's the truth. Ich betrachte die Religion als Krankheit, als Quelle unnennbaren Elends für die menschliche Rasse. (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  21. No don't smoke. I was tempted by a few classmates when I was like 10 or 11. Didn't inhale as I just couldn't, but my beloved sister saw me try. When I got home from school she told my stepmother who was standing in our garden with our neighbour (a heavy smoker). Mother didn't get mad or anything, she went "ahumm so you're a smoker now". Neighbor caught on and offered me the cigarette he was smoking... I said "no" but he went on like "why, try it... see, you suck the air in, hold it for a second and then just take a deep breath. If I can do it you can do it too... it's easy." So I tried... inhaling for the first time. Heavy coughing for 2 minutes or so, watering eyes and all, and that was it for me. Luckily I didn't get the trots or anything, but felt really dizzy and sick... Looking back, best cure I could have ever had. Never tried since, and I get disgusted regularly when we go to public bars with lots of smokers. It stinks, is just nasty, and all it does is increase your chance of premature death by cancer. 22. OK if you go with the prescription goggles, also have a look at the XKross1 Snowsurf. That is, if you get to visit Germany/Austria/Switzerland soon. I looked and tried (not in freefall though) the XKross1 at a Pink Boogie recently, has interchangeable polycarbonate visors and prescription inserts. It's very well foam sealed and comes with both rubber band / earpiece. I will buy one soon, just didn't find the time yet to visit the optometrist in my area who has them in stock. I'll come back and post a review. Ich betrachte die Religion als Krankheit, als Quelle unnennbaren Elends für die menschliche Rasse. (Bertrand Russell, engl. Philosoph, 1872-1970)
  23. Looks real to me... IF it's photoshopped, then there was a true professional at work!! I can tell from the mirror image of the parachute in the alligators eye. Just zoom in and you'll see... 25. Don't (!) overload the Quick. There have been at least 2 incidents (with injuries) because of bad flare on overloaded small (120sqf) Quick Reserves in Germany. First there were incidents when the canopy was said to be stalling to quickly, then in 2004 the manufacturer required lengthening of the steering lines, after that it didn't flare any more. Draw your own conclusions. I think they know why they discontinued the Quick and now market the RUSH. I can't say anything about that new product though. If you read german, check out: Stammtisch Thread about Quick 120 Reserve (20.Sep2005, someone injured on a Quick120) Stammtisch Thread with Review of a Quick reserve (says 3 reserve rides, wouldn't buy it again) de.rec.sport.fallschirm: Unfall mit modifizierter Quick 120 (8.Jun 2003) de.rec.sport.fallschirm: Wichtig! Springer mit Quick-Reserven 120/135/150 (11.Jun 2003) Personally I own and recommend a Paratec Speed Reserve because the pack volume is amazingly small and I've only heard positive feedback (personally I haven't jumped it yet). Since you're a big guy, that would mean those few "extra square feet" in your reserve container. edit to add: "Overloading" means more than the specified 53 (fifty-three!) kg (117lbs) exit weight on a Quick 120. Unless you were anorexic you couldn't fly that thing within manufacturers recommendation. Ich betrachte die Religion als Krankheit, als Quelle unnennbaren Elends für die menschliche Rasse.
