  1. Ladies and Gentlemen, It has been a long time since I have been an active member of the community. Wow, almost ten years since my last jump. Anyway, despite my lack of active jumping I have been actively promoting the sport to anyone with the slightest interest. While deployed to Afghanistan I came across a young Airmen that expressed an interest in the sport. I gave him a quick run down of what my experience was and he is hooked on the idea of getting his first tandem shortly after he returns stateside. The problem I have is I am not familiar with any of the DZs out west. He lives in Clovis, NM. I did a quick Google search and found Skydive Lubbock at an hour and a half drive away. Is that a good DZ for him to go to for his first Tandem or is there a better place to point him to in the local area? Anyone in the local area with experience at those DZs I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks! 2. Thank you everyone for your quick responses. I will talk to the DZ and work out what is best to move forward with and I will let you know how it turns out. Whether by tandem or by a coached jump, just getting out of the aircraft again is going to be amazing! I am so excited! 3. I have a handful of jumps that I completed back in 2006. Due to my job, and starting a family, I have been away from the sport since. My wife however is dying to go jump so I am looking to send her on her first Tandem for Mothers Day. Thinking about all the fun I had on my jumps, I want to get a couple of my own jumps in if possible. With how long long its been since my last jump, would it be fine to get a coach to jump with me, or should I consider recompleting AFF?
  4. That won't be able to happen this time around... but I will definitely look into it for a future time. I know my wife would love to see it as well as I! 5. From jumping at SSC I figured I wouldn't be able to see her land, I would just like to ride up to altitude with her... Thank you for your suggestion A man will do anything for the right woman, and when that woman destroys him, that man will become a hunk of meat with the common sense of a rodeo clown! ~ Christopher Titus
  6. I did the search and I also read the reviews. I was just curious which you guys would recommend for someone in my situation A man will do anything for the right woman, and when that woman destroys him, that man will become a hunk of meat with the common sense of a rodeo clown! ~ Christopher Titus
  7. [mad mad][ mad] I use to call Skydive Space Center my home DZ and have never had any problem getting to get a jump in whenever I had the chance, but since I am military and am constantly being sent else where in the world, I have trouble making it home sometimes. I recently called down to make an appointment for a coached jump so I could get current and was surprised to find out that I would not be allowed to jump there due to my experience level. This has really put me off with the DZ and even though my wife would have no trouble getting a jump in (she is doing a tandem for her first jump) I would be unable to jump on the same load, even if I was current. What DZ would you suggest that is within reasonable driving distance that can cater to the needs of my wife and I? 8. I love labs. They are excellent family dogs. I grew up around them and they are awesome with kids! I remember when I was young enough to ride one of them. And you can always pull on them, ears, tail, legs, they don't care. So you kids would never be at risk! 9. Just putting away some of the Bud Light my dad left in the fridge when he left last weekend... it ain't much, but get enough of them down and eventually they do the trick! 10. What is the point? The same joy can be established by setting up a range in the middle of the woods, setting up the rifle in the right direction, and when the blind person pulls the trigger, exclaim that he/she "got it" and drag a pre-shot animal infront of him and make em' and let them think they shot it. At least that way they wont have the possiblilty of shooting something that may pop up at the last second after the "sighted compainion" decided its OK to fire. I seriously hope this bill gets shot down. 12. Titusville is my home DZ, and its a great place. Their average tandem altitude is 15k, and yes they do go up to 18k. Its only about half an hour out of Orlando (depending on which side your on). Plus you get a great view of Kennedy Space Center and the Ocean on the ride to altitude. 13. Mine grew quite well, and so did my little sisters. Hers died for unknown reasons, then mine some how turned into a home for some of floridas mini roaches. Needless to say, it died shortly after said discovery.
