I don't know if anyone mentioned this but the PC9 doesn't have the laserlink. This is a disadvantage if you're going to be hooking the PC9 up to the video several times a day. Some of the camera guys at my DZ have had the jack plug socket wear out, thus meaning a lack of camera until fixed or replaced. The PC110 has laserlink and can just send the video straight over the ether without being plugged up! Neat. Stops sockets wearing out too. B

Pop down to a dropzone near you. Michele mentioned Perris. Go there, talk to the instructors, the other jumpers, the barman etc... Get a feel for it It is all about acceptable risk. Learn about the risks and what causes the problems. Talk some more, ask more questions - at the DZ preferably. They do this everyday! Enjoy the learning experience! Ben

I think it really comes down to what the situation is. If someone is negligent in their job, and this can be proved, then maybe there is a case for action. But if it is an accidental situation, then, you want to jump - you accept the risk. Elaborate on the situation a little more. Ben

Your changing the angle of the wing here. On a canopy, we are set with a fixed angle of attack, unless we play with the risers. So, this situation of yours is correct in it's situation, but not, imho, analogous to the skydive wing. Ben

Thanks for the info Quade and NMF! I have a PIII 750 with 256MB RAM and a 20GB HDD already, so was planning on using this. Thanks for the link to the Maxtor 3000DV Quade - very interesting! To start off with I'm going to be doing the days jumping etc, but will be moving on later on to, hopefully, make my own videos. This'll be a good start. Maybe by that stage I'll have my other PC up and running again (1.4GHz Athlon, 1.5GB RAM and two 40GB HDDs), which should be more suitable for the larger stuff. Will pick up a copy of the mag, thanks NMF! Gus, this goober does indeed now have a PC110. Do you want to show the rest of the world, how *good* you really are??
