  1. Anyone who touches the gator gets an automatic 100 point bonus. Just kidding.
  2. Check this link for some differences between Vectran and Microline. http://www.performancedesigns.com/pmd_faq.asp#6
  3. The "bank rule" or Chow Rule, which is the same as the Pond Swoop Nationals at the Ranch chow rules, will be the same as last year. We will have the pond filled higher for this year than it was last year. And yes if you land in the water and get a Chow penalty you will only be awarded half your points for the run.
  4. Hey Chuck, glad to hear you are considering a Florida trip. The idividual scores will not include any team scores. There will be eight jumps in the individual comp. Each jump will be worth points with the highest combined point total after 8 jumps winning. In lane will have ten zones each worth 10 points for a max total of 100. S carve will work the same with 10 zones and 100 points max. Carving accuracy will have quad gate and zone points for 100 points max and Freestyle will follow PST rules and points with Karine Leblond doing the judging. We will give money for first second and third individual and the team events will be seperate. Team will consist of two lanes with 10 zones each worth 10 points for a total of 200 points max for each team run. A perfect score for each team after two jumps will be 400 points. All events except freestyle will require competitors to make it out of the water to score. (Chow rules) Let me know if you have any other questions. Jim Slaton will also be at the event. He will be announcing. He announced the event in Colorado and did a great job and has agreed to come to Florida to announce at Skyquest. I am trying to talk him into doing some demo jumps with his new weapon, the JVX, but he will not be competing. Hope to see ya Chris Check this link for hotels http://www.skyquestflorida.com/2005Hotels.html

  6. You are right phree. You brought up a 9 cell class a year ago and we tried it in the first year of the Florida league. Alot of people sounded interested but not that many people showed up for the meet to compete in the 9 cell class. Loud Dan was one of them and he has continued to swoop. Maybe wrong time. I still think it is a good idea. I don't know how to make this a working link, (help) but this is the first post about the 9 cell class from last year. I would be willing to try it again next year in Florida if there is interest. Anyone want a 9 cell class this year? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1309001;#1309001
  7. Go to this link to check it out and sign up on line. http://www.skyquestflorida.com/2005SignUp.html I will send out more details about the comp jumps soon, but it will be very similar to last year. 10 jumps 2 in lane (24 inch lane) 2 zig zag 2 freestyle 2 drag and tag 2 team distance
  8. Loud Dan is kind of catchy. Well you make the call is it Loud Dan or are you just swooper formerly know as Loud Dan?
  9. 2004, Ian Bobo. 2005, Tyler Laswon. Not bad Tyler. Congratulations Tyler. Chuck Owen ended up in second place 1.7 points behind. Congratulations to both of these pilots for their efforts this season and congratulations to all of the pilots accross the country who participated in the CPC this year. Let's all look forward to next year I have attached all of this years results. Ray Dutch only made two events this year due to a broken leg and Dan Macallister competed in 3 meets meets due to one of our meets being cancelled because all of our competitors were competing in Spain. These are still four out the five top finishers. If anyone knows where Jim Vance is, tell him to get his ass to CO Here ya go. Florida will be sending Tyler Lawson Chuck Owen Dan MaCallister Ray Dutch
  10. Ray Dutch wins it! Nice one Ray Thanks to Wendy and Skydive Sebastian for all their help and support for us swoopers. Everyone at Skydive Sebastian rocks. Thanks. (The jello shots were mostly red) The DZ offered to double prize money up to $500 and ended up donating $315 to prize money. Ray wins $300 for first place with Scott Roberts taking second place and $200 with Chuck Owen coming in third place and taking home $120. This concludes the 2005 season for the Florida League. We would again like to thank Alti-2 for their support this year. Alti-2 donated Neptunes as prizes for local DeLand comps. We would like to announce the 2005 Florida Swooping Champion. Congratulations to Tyler Lawson. Tyler barely edged out Chuck Owen for the top spot with Chuck coming in a close second. Tyler and Chuck will be representing Florida at the CPC championships next month in Colorado. Dan Mcallister will also be joining them. Good luck guys. We would like to see the National Champion from Florida We are thinking of starting next year a little sooner and try to have some of the meets in the winter months. Look for 2006 Florida meets to start in January or February. Don't forget to Check out the Skyquest swoop comp this year Nov 17-19 at Fantasy of Flight.
  11. Hey Mark if you need a ride or something let me know and I'll see what I can do.
  12. Wendy wants to know what color to make the jello shots for this weekend at the comp in Sebastian. Send her an email with your requests. [email protected]
  13. We are doing round 4 this weekend in Sebastian. August 13th. Six rounds of zone accuracy, distance and speed carve. Wendy and Skydive Sebastian have graciously agreed to double the prize money again up to $500. This will be the final FLCPA meet for the season with the top guys going to Colorado for the CPC championships. We decided to go with four events for this season. We will all meet in Colorado to determine the format for next year. Danielle Ford will be joining us as chief judge along with Jennifer Leiras and Dorice Grove. We will be dedicating this meet to our friends Krystal, Bruno, Egon and Pierce. Hope to see you all
  14. Bad weather in Florida! Round 3 of the Florida league had to deal with Florida summer rain. We were only able to complete two speed rounds for this meet. Here are the results of the meet and the overall standing for the Florida league after 3 rounds. Tyler Lawson took this one and got a new Neptune and $100 cash for the first place finish. More and more skydivers are starting to use the Neptunes to help with altitude awareness under canopy. The Neptune's audible "Swoop Mode" is also proving to be a valuable tool on the Pro Swooping Tour with the Pro's. Bruno Asmann and Chuck Owen both tied for second place and each collected $100 bucks for their finish. Loud Dan showed up again for his second Florida League comp and finished fourth in the standard class and got a 30% off a Performance Designs canopy for his effort. (At this point Loud Dan should be thinkin about Colorado...hint, hint) Performance Designs also provided T-shirts, pull up cords, patches and sticker giveaways for the competitors. Thanks to Alti-2 and Performance Designs for their continued support and interest in our sport of swooping. These two companies have been very supportive of swooping so let's all let them know that we appreciate their interest and continued support. Keep in mind that the regional meets are not only for CPC members. Any non members out there who are interested in swooping, these leagues are for you too. Let's go. Get in the ring. Go swoop!
  15. Yes we determined that the extra 5 ft gave a 30% advantage. The 10 ft gate has a 30% advantage if you enter both gates in the top of the gate, at the same speed and glide angle.
  16. Here are the standings after 2 rounds
  17. Here is the sheet. Thanks to all the judges and to TK Hayes from Z Hills for donating 5 jumps for the comp. We drew names from a hat for the prize and Ramsey Kent won the five jumps. Congrats Chuck on his first place. He won $150. Tyler Lawson took second and $100. Chris Hayes took home a whopping $45 for third place. Hope to see you all in DeLand June 18 for round 3.
  18. If you go to PD's website and click "education" at the bottom you will see a drop down menu with all the line trims for PD canopies in PDF format. http://www.performancedesigns.com/education.asp At the top of each line trim chart is a drawing showing the shape or planform of the individual parachute. Notice the trailing and leading edges. A Sabre has no taper at all. If you look at the Stiletto, the center five cells are straight and the taper starts at the two endcells whereas the Katana and say the Vengence or Velocity have more gradual tapers that start from the center cell with each cell tapering more from the center outwards. You can compare these shapes to determine which one is more, or less, "elliptical"
  19. Neptunes have "swoop mode" Three audible alerts that can be set at whatever altitude you want for the canopy ride. They seem to be very helpfull when swooping, much like freefall audible alerts. If you decide on the ground before you swoop, what place and altitude you want to start your turn at, the audible warning can be a very usefull tool. You don't have to take your eyes off the target to look at your wrist. It becomes a good tool and reference to help with consistency. Alot of people use audibles in free fall and they are very usefull. It is very very diffcult to tell exactly what altitude you are at during a skydive and during a canopy ride by using your eyes. Many people depend on the audible for break off times. It works with swooping now too :)
  20. The Florida League round 2 meet will be at Z Hills on Saturday May 14th. We will use the pond for the zone accuracy jumps. Hope to see ya
  21. Round 1 went well in DeLand. We had 9 competitors with 6 people registering for overall points in the S class. Jim Vance out of Atlanta took first place and collected $150 and a new neptune. He will also get first place points towards his overall league placing. Attached are the round placing and overall placing
  22. We have high winds today here in DeLand. We have put the meet off untill tomorrow. The forcast for today has been very accurate. The forcast for tomorrow calls for Sunny skies and better winds. http://wwwa.accuweather.com/adcbin/public/hbh_local.asp?zipcode=32724&partner=accuweather&whend=2&whent=10&metric=0
