  2. Flyaway is essentially the first generation of wind tunnels that was out there. It is an indoor tunnel but doesn't have walls per say as the air column is surrounded by air pads and the walls are behind the air pads. The tunnel at AAC is an outdoor tunnel with a net in the fly area to catch the flyer if/when they leave the air column. There are no walls at the AAC tunnel. If you want to learn a bit about the history of tunnels and the industry, be sure to visit here http://www.bodyflight.net/history.html There is a list and a narrative about all of the wind tunnels in the world located here http://www.bodyflight.net/wind_tunnels.html I hope that helps. Have fun at the tunnel! jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  3. John and the other instructors there are some of the most versatile flyers you will find as well.....most of them started in FlyAway tunnels and many people find the FlyAway tunnels to be the most challenging to fly in. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  4. AAC is a great tunnel. It is different than any other wind tunnel you will find anywhere in the world. Training there is different than training in a SkyVenture wind tunnel because it is not an enclosed column of air. Having said that, training there is entirely possible, just different than training at a SkyVenture tunnel. And, you can't beat the views!!!! I have about 5 hours of time there and go back as often as the $$$ allows. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  5. Congrats to all of the winning teams. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  6. My husband's suit has come up missing. It is entirely possible that it is somewhere in our house, but it is also entirely possible that we accidentally left it at SkyVenture Orlando. Has anyone seen this suit? The back of the neck says "Jimmy," but has been partially removed. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  7. My teammate and I have Freak N Suits. This is my 2nd Freak N Suit and her first. We LOVE them. Angela (who makes the suits) has treated me so well and really worked well with getting me the exact suit that I want with both suits. I feel like I got an awesome deal on the suits and they have been holding up really well in the tunnel. But, the drag of the suit has to vary depending on which tunnel you will be flying in and what type of flying you will be doing. I.E. My first suits, which was built to be used in the sky and at SkyVenture Orlando is NOT the best suit for XP because it has WAY too much drag, especially on the arms. But, my new suit, which was built for freeflying in faster air makes freeflying in Orlando challenging, even when topped out. I hope this helps. Please PM me if you want more information about Freak N Suits or if you want to order one. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate

  9. I have been in 1 Flyaway tunnel. I was in Pigeon Forge in the middle of July when it was 101 degrees outside. I had been told that the Flyaway tunnels can get hot inside, so I was prepared for that. And while it was like a sauna in the tunnel, I was not prepared for the AT LEAST 130 degree air of the actual air column. All exposed skin felt like it was being damaged and burned and my husband had raging respiratory issues for a few days afterwards. It makes me admire the folks that stuck with tunnel flying when these were the only tunnels available. But, you might be out of luck. From what I hear, recirculators without any sort of intake can tend to get uncomfortably warm, especially during the summer. Hopefully lots of hydration and some conditioning will keep you from feeling so sick in the future. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate

  11. I went through the EXACT same thing. I was so frustrated and was almost ready to give up on learning to freefly. In a last stitch effort, I went back to backflying. I backflew for a few more hours and got REALLY good at it. I got to the point that I understood exactly what every movement did in my backfly and I could safely backfly with MANY people in the tunnel. Then I went back to sitflying. It was like a lightbulb had gone off in my muscles. I didn't have to think about anything....my body just did what it was supposed to. I am an EXTREMELY slow learner in the tunnel. I feel your pain....I am by no means a proficient tunnel flyer, but having gone through what you are going through now, I suggest going back to back flying until you are REALLY good and proficient at it. Best of luck.....if you are gonna be at XP sometime, I would love to fly with you. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate

  16. Geez. There are so many. I love to watch Justin and Kayla fly. I love to watch Keith Kimbrough and John Suiter fly at AAC. I love to watch Joe, Mick, Derek, Earl, Plamer, Samer, Rick, Selwyn, and Pun fly. I also love to watch Ari fly, and Paige as well. Ok, I think that is a long enough list. Suit

I LOVE my Freak N Suit. I bought it when I was still jumping to be used both as a sky suit and a tunnel suit. I was such a pain in the ass when they were making it as far as specifications about this and that and the manufacturer was happy to listen to me and work with me to get exactly what I wanted. The suit is awesome for slower tunnels, but too baggy for faster tunnels. I still use it every time I am in the tunnel. It has about 10 hours on it and is just now starting to show any wear. Some friends of mine have Ouragan suits and seem to love them. I think that a zero-p suit would probably be too slow for the faster tunnels, but I think they make non zero-p tunnel suits too. I have also heard that liquid sky suits are nice, but I don't know too much about them. Anyway, I hope that helps and you find a great suit to fit your needs. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  21. Paige and I, and possibly some other sisters, will be at the tunnel starting late on Feb 1 and leaving early on Feb 3. I hope to have some time for inductions, so if you are interested, please PM me or e-mail me [email protected]. 23. I love to see all of my tunnel junkie friends answering this survey. I am not at all surprised at the results so far considering it is in the wind tunnel forum and there are many junkies here. I have about 15 hours, but hopefully will have closer to 20 by the end of this year. I am working on supported HD at XP right now. I suspect I will be doing that for MANY more hours! jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
