Flyaway is essentially the first generation of wind tunnels that was out there. It is an indoor tunnel but doesn't have walls per say as the air column is surrounded by air pads and the walls are behind the air pads. The tunnel at AAC is an outdoor tunnel with a net in the fly area to catch the flyer if/when they leave the air column. There are no walls at the AAC tunnel. AAC is a great tunnel. It is different than any other wind tunnel you will find anywhere in the world. Training there is different than training in a SkyVenture wind tunnel because it is not an enclosed column of air. Having said that, training there is entirely possible, just different than training at a SkyVenture tunnel. And, you can't beat the views!!!! My husband's suit has come up missing. It is entirely possible that it is somewhere in our house, but it is also entirely possible that we accidentally left it at SkyVenture Orlando. My teammate and I have Freak N Suits. This is my 2nd Freak N Suit and her first. We LOVE them. Angela (who makes the suits) has treated me so well and really worked well with getting me the exact suit that I want with both suits. I feel like I got an awesome deal on the suits and they have been holding up really well in the tunnel. But, the drag of the suit has to vary depending on which tunnel you will be flying in and what type of flying you will be doing. I.E. My first suits, which was built to be used in the sky and at SkyVenture Orlando is NOT the best suit for XP because it has WAY too much drag, especially on the arms. But, my new suit, which was built for freeflying in faster air makes freeflying in Orlando challenging, even when topped out. I hope this helps. I have been in 1 Flyaway tunnel. I was in Pigeon Forge in the middle of July when it was 101 degrees outside. I had been told that the Flyaway tunnels can get hot inside, so I was prepared for that. And while it was like a sauna in the tunnel, I was not prepared for the AT LEAST 130 degree air of the actual air column. All exposed skin felt like it was being damaged and burned and my husband had raging respiratory issues for a few days afterwards. It makes me admire the folks that stuck with tunnel flying when these were the only tunnels available. But, you might be out of luck. From what I hear, recirculators without any sort of intake can tend to get uncomfortably warm, especially during the summer. I went through the EXACT same thing. I was so frustrated and was almost ready to give up on learning to freefly. In a last stitch effort, I went back to backflying. I backflew for a few more hours and got REALLY good at it. I got to the point that I understood exactly what every movement did in my backfly and I could safely backfly with MANY people in the tunnel. Then I went back to sitflying. It was like a lightbulb had gone off in my muscles. I didn't have to think about anything....my body just did what it was supposed to. I am an EXTREMELY slow learner in the tunnel. I feel your pain....I am by no means a proficient tunnel flyer, but having gone through what you are going through now, I suggest going back to back flying until you are REALLY good and proficient at it.
