john barleycorn on lincoln ave.....brings back lots of hazy memories...that place is an institution alright, spent many a late night/early morning there, first went there in early 1970's....once I was there during the change from daylite savings time, and the clock moved back at 2am...we all tried to insist that the place should stay open another hour till 2am rolled around again....didn't convince them.... i knew galen and stacy were going to deland this weekend for canopy class, but sunny and skymama in same class? and skymama we were talking about me going up there soon for some lessons when all of us were hanging out at zhills the day I met my post.... Well, I plan on being up there very soon to meet scott and work on my canopy skills....see ya soon.

I have tried sitting zen meditation many different times in my life, and I just can't sit for hours like that! There are other zen meditation styles besides sitting, however. Flower arrangement and tea ceremony are two more well known styles. I like Walking Meditation, especially in the mountains!! I have been to a couple of zen centers in Chi-town, which did you visit? Also, as I mentioned yesterday in another post, the most zen experiences I have are in freefall!!

zen philosophy...well, we westerners have turned it into something it probably isn't....zen is just one way to focus on life. It is NOT ignoring or avoiding life. For me, dropping 120mph and playing in space with a few friends, getting as much as you can out of 60 seconds, senses wide awake, is as zen as it gets... Take those small unmarked Jacksons....us$20 is worth BR $60 or so....Can buy lots of cds and clothes and stuff (skydive gear is expensive!) I took 15 of my inlaws to dinner in a great restaurant, with bottles of wine, drinks etc. It only cost me US$100 Impress your new friends! alysse is from Sampa. We go there all the time. Take a bulletproof vest. And a book to read (rough guide or lonely planeta are ok) while stuck in traffic. PM us for address to Aysse's cousins' 2 restaurants, buffet style, they will treat you well skydive gringo! Sao Paulo is like NYC never sleeps always a good restaurant or drinking hole 24hrs, and some neighborhoods are better than others. Vila Madalena neighboorhood is a GAS! Lots of places to eat and drink and hear great music. And like NYC, lots of live music every nite. Once I saw 10 shows in two weeks! You had better clarify that !!! People will talk.... Yeah, our banana trees are producing lots of bananas, and when a bunch gets ripe, all at once we have 50-60 small but very tasty ones, so Alysse melts bags of chocolate chips and we freeze a bunch....great on these 90degree days at zhills (all you northerners can get envious of our paradise, or just fly down and visit!)

Oops, sorry I didn't get a photo of you yesterday. It was a fun afternoon although the winds picked up....but we shared a jumprun and sat around the bomb squad table and a pleasant time was had by all!

Although I sure would like to post to this thread anonymously, here is my 2c ents: 'taking a dump' was a popular one.... now I call it 'recycling my dinner' A friend once complained that 'too many people take a shit, not enough people GIVE a shit!' As for relief in the woods, just burying it doesn't always work, as Mark mentions. A friend of mine was a river raft guide in the utah canyonlands and grand canyon. There was no way to bury anything on the hard rock at 'pit stops'. They used portapottys, but for #1 (liquid recycling) they encouraged everyone to pee in the river, since 1000's of people peeing on the rocks would leave the place inhabitable... There were some Japanese at the windtunnel in Orlando, they told me jumps were around US$50...I can only imagine how expensive the gear would be....

The language created for the "Star Trek" TV series and movies is one of about 55 needed by the office that treats mental health patients in metropolitan Multnomah County. "WE HAVE to provide information in all the languages our clients speak," said Jerry Jelusich, a procurement specialist for the county Department of Human Services, which serves about 60,000 mental health clients. Although created for works of fiction, Klingon was designed to have a consistent grammar, syntax and vocabulary. And now Multnomah County research has found that many people -- and not just fans -- consider it a complete language. "There are some cases where we've had mental health patients where this was all they would speak," said the county's purchasing administrator, Franna Hathaway. County officials said that obligates them to respond with a Klingon-English interpreter, putting the language of starship Enterprise officer Worf and other Klingon characters on a par with common languages such as Russian and Vietnamese, and less common tongues including Dari and Tongan.
