  1. So to sum this all up - There are many ways of getting a first timer in the air. BMCI/BMI/ Unmanufacture rated instruction(which when done by me is pretty much what I was taught by a BMI for your info) Differences are how much it costs and how much mentoring goes on the rest of the weekend Wingsuits will continue to evolve and manufacutures may come and go. Flights will become longer with forward speeds increasing. Many will fly together but a few will continue on the solo path as they have no way to get others in the air on the small rural DZs with out the help of others. Egos will have to be checked so that more first timers will want to join with the "fun" group and not fall into the "your gonna get cut if you do that again" group We all can help forward wingsuit flight weather you make money at it or not is up to your conscience. Wingsuit flying is still new and exciting I am not an expert nor do I have 100's of jumps but I do give good instruction and teach as it should be done. I just refuse to pay money to a manufacture who product I sell by giving instruction! Finally lets not forget this forum is for entertainment and if I lived in an area with 7 day a week jumping I wouldn't be posting here (PS I do enjoy debate though if you hadn't figured that out yet) I do everything I can to help promote wingsuit flights in my neck of the woods - Thanks for the replies Jason The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  2. You left one off your poll Used to use them (5 of them) until some fuck stole all of them. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  3. I have to say flocking with friends is the best - I prefer no dock tight formations w/ rotations myself as the docking with others tends to always get a little hairy when it is more than 2. If docking is in order foot docks are the cool thing in my book. When nobody can play a solo tandem swoop is always good to though! The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  4. There is a distinct difference between a first jump student and an experienced skydiver There is a difference in experienced skydivers making money off experienced skydivers - thats why you give free coaching - and to help you have more people to fly with isn't that right. Limp on my brother The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  5. Just put a weight belt on the tiny ones to even the score Don't take this seriously it was meant as humor but it should work The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  6. I will never stop - I have bought suits that don't fit just for demos and some that do fit just for friends my size. I am the hook up in Texas until somebody else wants it. **Its hard to teach a FFC while your buddies go to flock out of the van - but soon the one I am teaching will either flock with me or take my place bringing up the next pilot - hopefully the same way. I have loaned my suits out for weeks on end just to foster the next pilot - with hopes that he will start to attend our little get togethers and entice others to join us. I love this shit The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  7. As a matter of fact I will do recurrency jumps for any returning soldier for free (I pay my own slot and charge no cash) ((So kiss it big boy))) Not my DZ -- not my deal on that one but hey its not a manufactures rating either its an established rating you ain't got!!!!!!! Good luck at the course I will call Glenn and tell him I am routin' for ya. (I have been good and then you show up and try to stir up shit - where's your suit your friend was supposed to hook you up with? The last few times you jumped a wingsuit who's suit was it? Certainly not a "friendly neighborhood nylon crack dealer" if I remember right it was your friendly wingsuit flyer from up the road a bit. Thats right biotch it was me and your always welcome to jump it as I love to hear how you like to throw headdown) And you know I love you more than you love me you big stud Nice try Rat - Try harder next time The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  8. I have to second that pocket thing - all my demo classics have pockets but not the GTI The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  9. Well Kris I am sorry that my posts bother you but reading about "Check out the new Birdbabe pics, and looky looky who made their first flight" is boring to me and goes nowhere. Look at the post numbers and views to the posts - debates generate thought and response - I can learn a little from each debate which can change the way I see things - for the good or bad. From this post I can see that the fulltime skydiver has to charge for everything because he chose the fun life over real life 8 to 3 jobs
  10. This thread is going in the way I wanted it to: Debate with out the backstabbing that I and others have done in the past. Thanks Glenn and others for your input. What I have read is different DZs do things different ways and it seems to work - there are professional skydivers that have to make a living so they charge and there are ones like myself that just do it for fun and we could careless about being paid. I by no means want this to stop here. I have just been sitting back and watching as we are under shitty weather in our state. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  11. Eloy, with a structured school and a ban on 'freelance mentoring'.*** I have not heard of this "ban" - was this instilled by the BMIs pissed about the free mentoring or by the DZ. My DZ knows nothing about wingsuiting other then what me and my wingmen have brought forth - a few weeks ago the S&TA asked about the requirements for a first timer - my rules are 200 jumps with approval of the S&TA if I do not know of the jumper. This came into question a week ago at a different DZ when they didn't think the jumper was ready. At this point we will go out and simulate a wingsuit dive with out the suit-the practice pull- and the tracking positon- arms never above the head- if all is ok we proceed forward with the suit. Those are my rules - according to the SIM I could have taken her up if I wanted - The tracking dive will happen in the near future. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  12. Thanks for your thoughts ED There is a big difference between Big Giant DZs such as where you are from and small town cessna/ 1 turbine DZ. I don't see any jumpers wanting to pay for coaching jumps that they don't have to. Down here we latch on to some wanna be wingsuit pilot and foster them into the flockers we want them to be - at most I for the first jump slot to be covered by them after that I pay my own way as they are now one of us. There are not very many fulltime skydivers around here and none from my DZ. The next event I will attend I will probably be getting free skydives for organizing - I will take the money saved on skydives and buy beer and pizza for the ones I organized as I jump for fun not money. There is a difference in the way things are done from here to there. I would like to hear more thoughts as I think the wingsuit community is small now and may not get that much bigger if the stigma about how dangerous wingsuits are doesn't change. Lets be real they aren't hard to fly and we have not even touched on how much can be accomplished with newer suits/slower vertical and faster horizontal speeds. 13. If you still want a Diablo I know of 2 -- 135s that have been collecting dust for years that could be had for a song Im sure -- not many jumps on them - he quit skydiving when the economy over here tanked The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  14. Disclaimer: This is not directed towards any one person (so don't get your panties in a wad) These are thoughts sent to me by another to remain unnamed unless he wants to be. I would like to know your thoughts on this: Talk to all the old guys who have been around for a couple decades. There's a cycle. Something new and cool starts up. a few crazies start doing it. For a while, it's just a fringe thing, then others start doing it. People who are displeased with the current 'big thing' start jumping in. It gets more and more popular, and pretty soon, it's a discipline. All the 'big thing' guys criticize it, but it grows, because it's the way to have fun, with your friends, instead of getting your ass chewed for 'ruining someone's skydive'. And the new thing grows and grows, and it becomes the popular, big thing, that everyone wants to do. And then comes the bullshit. The world records. The tunnel camps. The skill camps. Paid coaching. Factory sponsorships. Money to be made. And skygods with thousands of jumps, chewing everyone's ass for ruining their skydive. And that's when the next new thing starts up, and the cycle repeats. This happened with Style and Acc to RW, RW to Freefly, and it was going to happen with Freefly to wingsuiting. The problem is, wingsuiting skipped a step. RW isn't dead, and freeflying isn't overrun with cocksuckers. People are trying to take wingsuiting straight from the 'small group of pioneers' stage, to the world record/skill camp/skygod/money stage right away, without going through the building stage. They want to pick fruit from a plant which is still sprouting. This is not meant to offend - just to know your feelings on the matter as it made me think (not really that long though 'cause I am not capable) The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  15. And now the color purple is available also - I am to assume that this is a suit color and not the dacron I hope that Unclecharlie can clarify The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  16. I use a PC105 with a cheap sunpath .45 lens that I have taken apart and unscrewed the inner lens. Once the inner lens is unscrewed you let the camera focus and than lock it into manual focus. It will take a $30 .45 lens and give you a .3 lens with minimal distortion - you just can't zoom it in but it is cheap. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  17. I am going to assume that these prototype suits look to be lower performance such as beginner suits or are they something different. Intermediate? V-6? Jason The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  18. V-1s they should be here around the end of March Due to bad weather and the Otter not getting to San Marcos it has been said that the $13 weekend is to be rescheduled again for later in March We did have fun and still got $13 jumps out of the caravan The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  19. I don't blame you - We will see you in a few weeks. We will be there regardless of weather as interest in our toys is high!!!!! Any news on a tailgate for the July 4th weekend - that will be fun for our next planned get together. Ted, Bob and I will have our new suits for that one! 23. I want to formally say I am sorry for speaking out against Birdman Inc in this forum causing whole threads to be deleted by my actions. I won't do it again or Chuck said he will ban me. So I am very sorry and won't do it again Sincerely Jason The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  24. As a newer jumper(200 to 400 jumps) I was guilty of this - now I think that "shit happens" and even though I may give her hell, I will still lay my rig with my freshly repacked reserve at her feet to pack my main as PACKING SUCKS!!! If I let someone else pack because I am to lazy to do it myself, I can't bitch. I always, well almost always tip her regardless Jason The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  25. Beezy I think Dave is more qualified than you because he posts here so much he must know everything The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
