Hey, Kim. A quote is a quote is a quote. It's nice Lee used it, but I never met him, and was using it before he left us. I got it from a country song by Trick Pony, titled "It's just what I do". I use it since that song hits home for me. I suppose now you are going to write them, accuse them of stealing Lee's quote, and threaten a lawsuit against them in Lee's name huh? I will not sat what I would like to say. Ask me the same over on wreak.skydiving and see my reply. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

Yep! She watches me pack all the time. She's going to be learning as soon as she's tall enough to not have too much canopy dragging on the mat while Pro packing. She also knows she can do that to pay her way through training and gear purchases too! It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

Yep. And that's a 14" harness.... She get's observer rides when she fits that harness, so she keeps wanting to put it on and check. I finally decided to take a picture of her after she put it on, and yes SHE put it on.
  9. Yep, it's a Vector II. OK, so it's a 14, so yep, that would make a 16 about perfect for me, even though I'm 6 feet tall. I'm all legs, and short thin torso. Thanks! Now, is there any general guideline for yoke size too? It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

One of my future skydivers here. No way I'm gonna let her be alone on the DZ from age 14-35! Seriously, she gets so mad at me when I tell her she has to wait another 10 years to jump. I will not sign for her to start at 16, and she's only 8 now. Oh well, she's Daddy's little girl, and will probably win me over in the next 8 years.... It's your life, live it! 12. OK, maybe I'm just dense today, but I'm still unsure of the measurement point. I got the tape in this picture started at the base of the ring/top of the webbing, but I'm unsure which point on the legstrap attachment to use. 12"? 14"? 16"? My rigger did say it was tight, and another inch or 2 would make it perfect. Just making sure I get it right! It's your life, live it! 13. Thanks, that helps quite a bit! I know exactly what you mean about beware used gear sizes. I would be a prime example of that problem. I'm almost 6 feet tall, yet smaller womens rigs have fit me the best, with the exception of a tight yoke. I have a short torso, long legs, fairly wide shoulders, and only weigh about 150#. A rig that "fits a 6 foot person perfectly" would be extrememly big on me. (I know, I have eaten a chest strap or 2). I just didn't know the proper methods for measuring the rigs. My present rig is too small, but I jump it anyway. After the harvest moon boogie, the main is going to PD for an overhaul, reserve will be due for a repack....what better time to look for a new container to put the stuff in? Oh, and I prefer Mirage.... It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
  14. There has been some good and some not so good info here, so I'll just add what I have done. I've jumped mostly original early '90s Sabres, and the only hard openings I have had were on pack jobs not done by me, proceed at your own risk. This has worked on all of the ones I jumped, including a 210, a 190, a 170, a 150, and a 135 (my present canopy). I propack basically like everyone else, except I have the line groups seperated over each shoulder while flaking. I flake the nose, and roll all 9 cells together one way, all the way up tight to the A lines. Stuff it between my legs, and flake the rest of the canopy. Quarter the slider, and switch the line groups onto just my left shoulder. I pull the tail up and around the lines, then stuff the nose all the way to the back of the pack job. I then pull the slider way out in front of where the nose should be. Next I roll the crap out of the tail, and I do mean tight! Coccoon, S fold, and stuff in the bag as normal. This method has yet to snap me, twist me, or spin at all. Every opening has been nice and straight. The snatch force sits me upright, and I am able to look up and actually watch the canopy open 2 cells (1 right, 1 left) at a time. As everyone said, each canopy is different, but this packjob has never failed me, with 7 different older Sabres, in 5 different sizes. It's your life, live it! 15. Just a simple question or two for the riggers here. 1. How do I accurately measure the main lift web of the rig I own? It is a small rig, and while looking for another used container, it would be nice to know my measurements for comparison. 2. In direct relation to the above question, how/where would I measure my body to reveal my optimum main lift web size? Any help would be great! Blues! It's your life, live it! Yea, NO SHIT! Anyone here besides me jump at Rantoul, and land in the spectator area? HOLY SHIT! The turbulence coming off the hanger for the museum was un-freakin-believable! I caught some of that turbulence but managed to glide through it without much trouble. Next year I think I'll come in on approach from a different angle and flat turn to avoid that building. Especially as hot as it was there were thermals, too. Yea, I made it through without any trouble also. It was wicked though. Could have been really bad if I had been cross winding it. I did think about setting up for final to land on the C130 bar, but figured I wanted to stay at the WFFC, not get kicked out.... It's your life, live it!
