  1. This guy pretty much sums up the negotiations and the why's: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/30/jon-stewart-on-govt-shutdown_n_4020581.html Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  2. They extended the voting out until Oct 14th! Keep up the votes, guys!
  3. Not by a long shot. Certainly not on this one. ACA was voted on by both the House and Senate, signed into law by the President. Challenged by the Tea Party and confirmed as Constitutional by the Supreme Court. It's the LAW. It's been vetted by the checks and balances system. It's been voted to be repealed or otherwise modified 42 times. Every single time it has stood. A small faction of people who don't like it are throwing a temper tantrum. Fuck those guys. Seriously. If you lost and have continued to lose for four years, it's simply childish to attempt to shut down the government over it on the eve of it going into effect and especially when shutting down the government won't even have the effect intended. It's childish. ^^This^^ Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  4. Hahaha-- that's what I just said to him on facebook. He wanted to thank everybody for the love, and I said 'you can thank me in beer!' Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  5. +1 Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  6. Thanks! Spread the word. Only a day left to vote!
  7. Hey, guys. Sorry if this isn't supposed to be posted in these parts, or if a 'vote for XXX' isn't supposed to be posted at all.... but, the Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Competition is getting heated and a fellow NorCal jumper needs your help! Vote for Marcel Pomerleau's (dz.com's own jacketsdb23) video and help send him to beer camp! He's slipped to #9 and they only take the top 10! You can vote once a day! Contest ends midnight on Sept 30th. http://sierrabeercamp.elasticbeanstalk.com/Vote#70 Thanks!
  8. Not that I am directly insulted and too bothered, but rather pointing out you are insulting an awful lot of people if I understood what you were saying correctly. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  9. I think they usually do night jumps on Sat night before dinner and the party. At least they did last year. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  10. Heard of Fox News? You pretty much did say that, but not word for word. Forgive me if I am not interpreting it right, but to me it sounds like you said, and continue to say especially with the line you closed this response with, that anybody who didn't vote for a republican is uninformed and mostly uninformed because of what they heard in the media. Good. You do your own research. As do I, and I form an INFORMED opinion of who I want in office. Doesn't mean I am not informed or brain washed if I didn't vote the way you voted, especially if I came to my vote the same way you did. Again, you think you're not sending a slight handed insult here? Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  11. Sorry, I am not buying that. Palin created a lot of excitement initially, the soccer mom and all that, but as we got closer to voting day, most people had plenty of time to see just how fucking stupid she really is. I think she did him in. But not to say that anyone else would have done better. 8 years of GWB also did in the Republicans in general. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/31/us/politics/31poll.html?_r=0 just one example But back to the birth certificate.....why are we revisiting this again? The State of Hawaii already produced it. It is not actually the President's job to produce his own birth certificate. It's like saying I need to produce a passport. If I do not have one, I go to the government and get one. The GOVERNMENT actually issues the document. And in this case, that was done, signed sealed and delivered. I want to see the Republicans put Ted Cruz on the plate for 2016 and then explain the 'naturalized citizen' thing all to us again..... I have every bit of confidence that the Republicans will attempt to win in 2016 by putting "really stupid and crazy" on the ticket. can't wait. What you are buying is irrelevant If one cares to look at the numbers found by those who research that election, you will find more vote for McCain that would have without Palin The positions you and Wendy take are driven by the media hype that was generated to destroy her The same visceral hype we see with any candidate the left feels threatened by So is it not possible to have anything wrong with a republican candidate which would cause the voting public to shy away from them..... or it's always just because the media is plotting to smear them and goes out of their way to viscerally report hype? I'm sorry to chime in when this is all kind of OT, but I'm with the other guys. McCain almost had my vote. I watch all the news networks, including the ones that went out of their way to put her on a pedal stool in a bright shining light, so I would like to say my vote was an informed decision; and my decision was a no go once I researched and vetted Palin more and more after she was picked up as his running mate. It's a little insulting that you're basically saying none of us made informed decisions and we're all brain washed by the media. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  12. Stop bringing a level headed reasonable response into this thread! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  13. Whether or not Bush himself has personal responsibility is open for debate. Blaming the Bush Administration, however, with emphasis on certain members (Cheney especially) seems pretty well indisputable. To the left with an agenda? Yes But the truth is what it is and that does not support you Just like the truth is what it is now with the current president and that does not support you. Let's just all take our balls and go home. This going around in circles is getting so old. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  14. I used to travel a lot both in and out of the bag. I think it does take a little attention off of it going through the TSA line, but you're completely right that once it's in the xray all bets are off whether it's in the bag or not. Regardless, I like having it all packed away and tidy for the trip now a days. Nobody is staring at me walking around with a parachute on my back, I don't get the wuffo questions that spark from people seeing it, and it's easier to get up/in/out of overheads with the handles being less of a snag hazard. Thank Matt for getting me on the rolling bag kick. He's a stickler about it.
  15. I highly doubt TSA is going to go out of their way to rebook you. I've almost missed a flight out of PHL because I got pulled off the line, had to wait for a supervisor, and get the reserve flap opened and swabbed. Want to know who's fault that was? Mine. I should have showed up with enough time before my flight to account for any nonsense I encounter in the TSA line because of my rig. I didn't that day and I happened to get pulled out of line for a closer look at my rig (and possibly a reserve pop). That's on nobody but me at that point. So... tip to any of you passing through TSA for the first time with your gear-- show up a little earlier in case anything happens in the security check. I've had everything from a quick looksie, to a quick looksie with a few questions, to a swab and wanting to see the documents from USPA and AirTec on the AAD, to holding me up and threatening a possible reserve pop until the supervisor finally comes over and tells the TSA minion that he is indeed an idiot and should have been trained on what an AAD looks like. Allow enough time for the worst to happen. If nothing, then sweet-- go have a few beers with your extra time. Do NOT show up an hour before your flight and expect TSA to rebook you. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  16. On a serious not I call b.s. on every one of those. Do you have a TSA link to back any of them up? I think you could be leading a new guy in a seriously wrong direction here. - I know somebody who had to pop their reserve (freshly packed at that) not more than a year ago while traveling. Sorry, but you're shit out of luck as far as I know. You'll be lucky if they can get you a trash bag to daisy chain your stuff in to before you have to put it back in your suitcase (which, FYI, this by itself is a good reason to travel with your rig in a rolling bag.. just the lack of attention on your rig is good enough, IMO). Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  17. Agreed. I'm kinda curious why this isn't shown more often to struggling new packers. I had the hardest time packing! Got so frustrated it pretty much made the jump not fun for me because I was dreading the pack job! My husband finally showed me the technique like the one in this link. MUCH better now!!
  18. OK, I get that, but the way I saw the OP's question was that they wanted to progress with more two way stuff and sounded like the tunnel was not an option because it was too expensive. A few of us politely reminded them that compared to jumps, it is not. But if it's not so much the cost of the tunnel that bothers you, but the combination of doing the tunnel to progress AND still getting all your jumps on with a single income for a family, then you're right-- sounds like he just needs to jump jump jump! PS-- I'm not saying tunnel is a pure replacement for skydiving or is just as fun or more fun. I'm just saying if you're looking to get a bang for your buck with money being an issue, you're better off progressing with some tunnel time. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  19. To be fair, a lot of those married men are screwing around with married women. Doh... that really was a stereotypical slip when I posted that. I meant to take that out and put people instead of men. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  20. Change the questions: Have you ever had sex? Have you ever had sex with more than one person? If no, are you married to that person? Hmmm... no such thing as a long term committed relationship without the marriage cert? And agree with what was said-- I know plenty of married men that still screw around. A marriage cert is not a magic piece of paper that seals your shtuff in your pants to anybody but your SO. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  21. Cant argue with your logic. My wife and I view tunnel as a separate hobby. Skydiving has been an incredible hobby for us and its more than just the jumps. We only live an 90 minutes from Ifly Austin so no real travel expenses, we just dont want to cut back on skydiving to go to the tunnel. When our circumstances change the tunnel will still be there. It is awesome watching some of the jumpers at our dropzone progress so quickly. You live that close to one of the newest sweetest tunnels in the country and you don't want to include that in your training? And it works out per minute to be cheaper than skydiving? You're nuts! I'm the opposite. Live at least 60-90 mins from the local DZ's, I work wacky hours, don't have a ton of weekends off to jump with other weekend warriors, and my office is just a few minutes around the corner from our tunnel. And the bulk rate allows us to fly for just under 10 bucks a minute. Seems like a pretty good deal to get some training done. IMO, you just can't keep up with other fliers at the dz if you're not utilizing the tunnel. At least not here in NorCal. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  22. They will never blame obama on the same level? I'm already seeing my most liberal friends drafting signs up and sitting in the center of larger cities protesting this. Some of those signs do not have kind words for Obama and his war on them. Trust me, they can get vicious in a situation like this. Explain to me more what you mean about protecting liberalism? First you said they wouldn't blame Obama, but now you're saying they'll blame him but only to protect liberalism? ......or maybe they just call a duck if it's a duck? It is possible to hate war on a bipartisan level. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

  24. This^^^^ Get back itus can kill you and all you had to do was pick a safe out and do a pattern. Are you comfortable landing out? Are there good outs? Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  25. That's basically what I'm getting at. They will disqualify you for something stupid like stepping off a cruise ship for 5 minutes in cancun, yet they'll call you every day begging for your donation. They need to take a look at the overly conservative screeners and revamp everything, IMO. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
