  1. I'll do a few jumps there before night jumping for sure! I'll be there from around 10th Oct so I have plenty of time to get familiar with the DZ.
  2. Would love to rent a car but I am living super cheap and that would be a luxury I really can't afford! Sometime i'll get there for sure though. Thanks for all the advice guys.. looks like I'm fairly well set up for the night jumps
  3. Heard there is no night jumps during chicks rock, right? I'll be there regardless but have to sort out a plan B!
  4. Haha good argument.. Unfortunately I don't have a car so I am completely at the mercy of others. I am planning on going to lodi after the chicks rock boogie in Elsinore so that would land me pretty close to Davis. And I can hope that somebody will be heading that way in the days leading up to the night jumps. I would love to visit AZ but I would hate to be stranded in the desert with no ride back! Cheers for the convincing words all the same! Peace, Gavin
  5. Hey folks, I am travelling to California next week. I am a C-licence PAI (Ireland) skydiver but I am going to try and meet the requirements for conversion to USPA-D by Christmas. I will be in Elsinore where I plan on doing water training. All the other requirements are easily met apart from Night jumps. I was wondering if anyone knows of any organised night jumping event between now and Christmas? I would really like to get my USPA D before I go home to Ireland so I am willing to travel to most areas in CA if it means I can get the night jumps done. Many thanks for reading. Any help is greatly appreciated. Peace, Gavin.
  6. Yo, I did a little more reading and found that you already took part in a discussion like this. You gave sound advice. Sorry I didn't find it earlier before wasting your time. Something more friendly it is so! Cheers Drew, sound out :)
  7. Hey guys and gals, I'm on the market for a 150 canopy. The title pretty much says it all: I am wondering if jumping a 150 stiletto at my experience level is 1) accepted on DZs worldwide, and 2) Okay in terms of safety (concerning trim, recovery arcs, aggressiveness to different inputs etc)? Is there a major performance step up from what I have been flying? I am 180lbs out the door and have been jumping 150 sabre 2 and 150 electra since ~ 100 jumps. i Have an irish issued USPA equivalent C-licence. Thank you very much for your time. Gav
  8. Yo Doc, I'm willing to go to any part of the globe! I was cruising the "dropzones" pages a lot but it is very hard to get an idea of how busy the DZs are, how well they are run, amount of staff etc.. And the websites don't really provide much info apart from first time jumper details! If you have any recommendations of DZs in Oz I would be grateful. Oz would be a dream! Thanks for the feedback Doc !!
  9. Hey guys and gals, I know I should be posting in the classifieds but there were a good few scams floating around in the last few months so I decided to come here. I know its very late in the year to be seeking a job for this Summer but if you don't ask you don't recieve! I'm 22 and finishing my university degree this year. I want to work as an inexperienced packer on a busy DZ with a good reputation. I have experience as groundcrew at a major European dropzone. I am not here looking for jobs directly, but I would really appreciate if you could help a brother out and send me a line if you know of any DZs that currently have vacancies for inexperienced packers or are willing to employ a trainee packer. That way I can focus my applications on DZs that are currently hiring. I know it is very late in the year to be seeking a DZ to work for for the upcoming season and I have no expectations, but any help would be deeply appreciated. I am living in Ireland but willing to travel worldwide so all ideas are welcome
  10. hey guys and gals! okay i've not flown a wingsuit yet but i was drunk last night and i was tripping out thinking about wingsuit flying. i was talking to some non jumper friends about what it may/may not be like. then i thought aloud "i'd say it's like riding the most amazing invisible slide, no two ever identical, belly down and head first that you don't have to engineer until you're already going down it!" needless to say they all laughed at me. so is this any way an accurate analogy or was i just too wasted!? personally i think it may have been the latter! peace, gav.
  11. cool yeah.. i was just a little paro coz im only sitflying at the moment and was thinking that head down with a full face would have me back sliding.. cheers
  12. i feel like i only ever ask questions and never have a decent input... but that an issue for another day! im getting into freeflying and im confused about headgear. i have an oxygnA3 and have my eyes set on L&B solo ll ( as i have the altitrack to record data and dont need the pro track) so the real question is: should i stay freeflying my full face and simply install the audible ? or should i get a new helmet also? if the latter, any recomendations of helmet which can have the solo esily installed( many helmets look difficult tto fit the audible) many thanks gav.paece
  13. well im afterbeing rode for my euro then .... thanks for the post although id rather not have read it! fuck sake... just one prob after another. peace
  14. you're a legend!! you're coments are very calm and collected but drill home the relevent points. thanks for your input. gav.
