  1. >Anyone that swears that have have 1000+ openings every jump I don't even take >serious on their openings any more. First rig I got had a sabre170 with about 1000 jumps on it, and a pocket slider. I swear dude, the thing was like, 700 - 1000 feet every time (yes, a fricken' sabre). I dont know why you'd think it's hard to believe people have 1000' openings. Samurai? you guys are right on about that. Seems really quick, but ohhh so soft. 2. Any recommendations on a good way to mount a canon rebel onto a bonehead Optik. I'm currently shooting vid, but was hoping to get into some stills. I originally wanted digital still, but I dont really see anything that I like that I wouldnt have to sell my mother for. 3. I load my canopy 1.5 . I've landed downwind a few times (the alternative was to do a low turn and slam in) and it's usually a combo of foot and buttslide then back to my feet at the end. I dont mind doing them if I have to. And yes, they were during normal wind conditions. Grass stains on your ass is better than poop stains in your undies because you cant get out of the hospital bed. 4. I> need some help. I started flying my saber 150 loaded at about 1.2 or so about 30 >jumps ago and on the first 2 or so landings I had great surfs, then it became sporadic, 3 >jumps 1 surf and so on. What I have been told is to go to half brakes to plane out and >then to full flare when all the speed has bled off, is it a mental block, muscle memory >thing that is continually causing me just to flare and stand? BTW I am not any where >near considering low alt carves for the swoop, I fly a standard low time jumper pattern >and have no intentions of changing anytime soon, so please don't flame me on that one. >Any other surf/swoop tips would be great, just trying to enjoy something that I seem to >have forgotten how to do. Based on the # of jumps you have in your profile, I'd say that it would probably be a good idea to learn some more important things before learning to swoop. Such as, flat turns, and other things that will probably save your butt one day. That being said, I jump a sabre 150 loaded at about 1.5. Currently, I do a carving front riser 90 a bit higher and end up on both front risers before surfing. I;ve found that the key is to let up your risers smoothly when releasing allowing you to maintain your speed. Just letting them snap up will result in a bit of a buck, and you'll burn off some of your speed. Also, when I initiate the turn, I'm actually pulling on the opposite riser slightly so that I start the dive almost immediately, and it's a smoother transition to both fronts. 5. >Maybe switching to a Stiletto at the number you have might not be the best idea. But >when you do switch, keeping the same wingloading is a very good idea. I went from a >Sabre 150 to a Stiletto 150 and found that just the change in flight characteristics was >more than enough to keep me entertained. >Greig. Actually, It was enough to keep us all entertained. See the attachment and you'll know what I mean. hehehe-sorry dude... I couldnt resist. 6. >Then we sent a 4WD SUV to rescue them. It got stuck Not all SUV's are created equal. You have to factor in ground clearance, gear ratio, suspension articulation. My jeep TJ could go ALOT of places without getting stuck when it was stock. It went even more places when I added the 4" LIFT, 33" BFG muds, 4.10 gears. This doesnt mean it can go 'ANYWHERE' without gettign stuck. Infact, I did get stuck in about 4 feet of soft mud once. After that, I added an 8,000lbs winch. Problem solved! 8. Actually, I had a huge ass land whale (sort of-actually a jeep TJ lifted 4" with 33" muds etcetc ) that wasnt actually that bad on gas. It fricken got stolen earlier this year. It kicked ASS! Park where you want, never get stuck, top off in the summer, excellent in the winter... Vid "stons fal, evrysing fals, but doesnt on purpos change its flite pas an positioning..."

  11. I did some coach jumps with Adam Rosen from Monkey Claw last year at quincy. He's an awsome coach and I believe that it helped me tremendously. Also, I did about 12 coach jumps with Goran Laz in Zhills over Christmas. He's also a kick ass coach and it definately helped me. I would say, YES, spend the few bucks and get the coaching-it's worth it. Vid "stons fal, evrysing fals, but doesnt on purpos change its flite pas an positioning..."

  14. >A similar potato-chip type thing happens when your legs are tense when learning >headdown too. >I was trying ot keep my legs really wide, so I tensed them up. Well gosh darnit, didn't I >just take off in a real funny unpredictable way all over the sky, back and forth and >stuff. >As soon as I learned to relax, I started going straighter down. : ) This is very true. I have that problem sometimes because I jump with a bunch of floaty biiaaatch's-so I'm trying to fly with my legs REALLY wide-this makes me tense up some and do some funny shit. When I jump with other fat ass's, I'm just chillin' and I fly waayyy better. I'm not extremely flexible (I was when I was younger from martial arts) so I went out and bought a leg stretching machine (Hurley). Way better than the flex master. 15. > Glens comment about only practicing 2 transitions for the AD I think sums up the whole >argument between which is a better test of skill. I've seen some horrible AD tests that >have passed. But now Im not sure I would like to be sure of clear air when my last chance >comes out I've had two PC's in tow. On both occasions, after deploying the reserve - the main pin was released and the main canopy came out. I cut away first on both, and will do so again if I have another one. 18. >Well, I'm at that time in my jumping career where I need to find a pre-second rig. I have >been considering used rigs, but I've realized that I can get something cheap and >cheerful >new for about the same money as a lot of the used rigs advertised, and it >would be great >to have a perfect-fitting container with the exact colors I want. Hell yeah, if ya got the dough, do it! I did. >I'm thinking Wings/Hornet/Tempo. I've heard mixed review's on the hornet. Some people say they love 'em, some say they dont. A friend of mine had a 17o that wacked the living crap outta him on a regular basis. Also, I personally prefer PD reserve. I've jumped a 176, and a 143 and they fly awsome. In fact, I'm loading the 143 a bit over 1.5 (hehehe, Im sure I'll get flamed by the canopy nazi's) and I just had a fricken awsome stand up landing first time jumping it(actually, in the main landing area in rantoul). Uhhh, you're not gonna load your that heavy though... >Is there any reason why the Wings is so inexpensive? It seems to be about $300 less >than a Javelin and much, much cheaper than the premium containers like the Mirage and >Voodoo. The reviews in the gear section are generally quite positive. However, I heard >someone at the DZ dismiss it as a "budget" container. Any thoughts? Yeah, I personally think it's some kind of political thing with one of the other companies (my opinion only). >Also, has anyone seen or used their freestyle handle? It is a low-profile pilot chute >handle. I'm trying to decide between that and a hackey. I have the pud handle on a BOC throw out. I like it alot, really secure. >Articulation...is it worth it? Quilted back pad? Cordura or spandex BOC? What options >are must have? Dude, yes-get the articulation. The one thing that I dont like is that they dont offer chest rings. I had chest rings on my last rig(JAV) and I loved em. Dont get me wrong though-My wings is still waayyy more comfortable. I got the cordura boc and also like it alot. It goes well with the pud handle and vice versa. >I want to get B-12 snaps, large 3-rings... Yuk!! B12 snaps!! I> have so much to think about. Any input would be useful. >Also, I want to get a 170, but I'd like to be able to go down a size in the same >container at some point in the future. Do I just mention this on the order form, or...? Usually not a problem to downsize a size or so. I got a w10 (made for 150) and a 135 fits no problem. [#003366]I love the wings . I looked at alot of other rigs before I got it. It's probably the most secure rig that I've ever seen. Most comfortable too, and it looks cool as F@#K. I got tye dye on mine, so it looks super cool!!! PS. The customer service is top notch and Heather is awsome. [/#003366] Vid "stons fal, evrysing fals, but doesnt on purpos change its flite pas an positioning..."
