  1. As Chuck Akers correctly and aptly put it: I think if you observe around your DZ and read a lot of posts here on the subject, I think you'll probably conclude that you're in a large crowd on this subject. So welcome, you're normal. Now it sounds like you're going to see your license to completion and keep jumping! Hooray! On the other hand, there are many reasons people get into training and then walk away. Some of those reasons make sense and some leave others scratching their heads but hey...we all have to make our choices and respect the choices of others. I would hope that in the unlikely event you have to walk away, it is not because you're normal.
  2. Hey Jerry, Far be it me to deny a man his pleasure so I truly hope you enjoy. Have plenty of popcorn, you're gonna need it. Me? I live and work too too close to this stuff so I see the silliness everyday. Call me jaded and cynical if you please. Trust me...I've been called worse. Sometimes it was deserved, other times not so much!
  3. Only means a marathon debate so stock up on more popcorn and beer. This of course assumes you'll be watching. Me? I'll pop in either my Ripcord or Three Stooges DVD's. Better entertainment.
  4. Yea but when they stamp that "A" on your forehead, you have your own equipment, you'll say it is all worth it...and it is.
  5. Since there is such varied opinion on this subject, I thought I'd provide something (see attached) since we all might share the same fate. It's an old instruction from the Cold War...just might be useful now.
  6. There ya go again bringin that weak ass shit. Ya get some better material. After all you're a lawyer...right?
  7. H.L. Mencken was known to answer all his letters from his readers with the following sentence: "You could be right." I for one don't know what to think about Trump. But one thing is for certain, he's a bull that brings his own china shop with him or if he finds a china shop he doesn't like because the proprietor dissed him, he's gonna bust that one up as well. The popcorn and beer taste a lot better as I watch or read about it. 'Bout time we had a good bar room brawl in American politics. You could be right...we'll see.
  8. The CMOH was awarded not to John McCain but to James Stockdale who after his release, rose to the rank of Vice-Admiral (three stars). Stockdale has now passed. He has, however, left us with some very good writings on his thoughts and reflections of his POW years and those writings are required reading in the command staff schools and war colleges of the four services.
  9. And for all you cheating men out there. What does a hurricane, an earthquake, and an ex-wife all have in common? Sooner or later, they all get the house.
  10. The issue IMHO is not context it is completeness that provides a greater clarity to both the issue and the incident and nowhere have I alluded to nor implied questioning context in the two prior postings. We will agree that Trump went over the line on this one. Senator McCain has enough to question and criticize in his political career without bringing up his harrowing days as a POW or the performance of his military duties as a combat pilot. With respect to your belief in my "intellectual auto-eroticism," I would think as a moderator you have the responsibility to a higher standard of word usage. The first time is a mistake and the second time will be ignorance in which case I can think of a few "choice ones" to return the favor.
  11. To not use the whole quote is a cherrypick. In this period of political discourse and the crucial issues of the day, gotcha soundbites and cherrypicking quotes only further the useless political theater and unneeded drama.
  12. Please, put the ENTIRE statement in there, don't just cherrypick the words that support your argument. It's a common trick and ploy of the press on both sides of the fence. IMHO, the complete statement should be the honest measure to provide the complete context. In full disclosure, I'm not a Trump fan up or down but Trump is coming back at McCain for calling him (Trump) and those who support him a bunch of crazy loonies or words to that effect. Apparently, Trump has hit a nerve in an area that is out of bounds i.e. McCain's service as a POW. Love him or hate him, Trump is mixing it up so to speak and since American politics can (and usually is) a contact blood sport, it is what it is.
  13. Uhhh...we got a problem here. From the letter "3. Consider serving as a Quiet Skies Liaison for your city, county or state (if you live outside Boulder County.) This role generally involves passing along our updates to your own support networks. Send us an email if you would like more information." The cancer wishes to metastasize. Coming to a DZ near you...me...them, the national skydiving community. Today Longmount, tommorow...the world is not enough!
  14. Naw...you're suggestion though very admirable should rise to a higher occasion...Rigger's Reward for a save. She deserves the very best of her favorite whiskey!
  15. True it's frustrating but everyone who thinks they "have a case" (with the assumption that a lawyer tells the client they have a case) is entitled to their day in court. Sadly, and this is no criticism of Ms. Gibbs. After reading the FB page and watching the post-trial video a couple of times (I've questioned myself about the time investment), I get the distinct impression that Ms Gibbs and her followers are ingrained and invested in victimhood ready to take on any and all forces and irritants of any magnitude that they believe impinges on their lives. She sought relief in her legal recourse of the Court and lost. She will not and never will take no for an answer and will not rest until the rest of the world not only agrees with her but believes the same way she believes. At some point, the DZO (on the advice of counsel) just may have to bring one very massive legal counter suit down on her that finally convinces her and her following that further legal action is not only futile, there will be massive economic destruction resulting from continuing their efforts against MHS. Criticize? No. Pity? No. I don't know what to call it other than not good. And the beat goes on
  16. You make a very good thesis as to why other groups as well who use a {fill-group} - American hyphenated description of themselves should "just be Americans" as well. Well done!
  17. "There are no coincidences." - Anonymous KGB Officer
  18. Hmmm...other than studying physics and engineering, you've done extensive study on war to comment on the "several other reasons?"
  19. Yea...I wonder too...it was not a good way to fight a war.
