What about the strippers?

looking to buy first canopy... advice please!
Shredex replied to lov3skydiving's topic in Gear and Rigging
Can't go wrong with a Pulse! It's responsive when you want it to be and it recovers quickly from a dive and has a very flat glide. This means you can get back to the DZ from a long spot pretty easy. If you can, demo some canopies. I thought I would like a Sabre as my first canopy but after jumping it I did not like how it sunk strait out of the sky. Felt like I was on the Tower of Terror with it just loosing so much altitude compared to the Spectre I had been jumping. But again, try demoing. I can almost guarantee you would love the Pulse! -
Pfft! That's a jump ticket right durr!!!!!

Our student rigs have a left side release handle that just dumps the BOC and allows for the pilot chute to just plop out encase the instructor can't reach the right side...I don't think I've ever even seen a spring loaded pilot-chute for a main -

"Spring loaded pilot chute" Was it your reserve that deployed? Didn't look like a reserve. How old of a rig were you jumping that uses a spring loaded PC? -
Think I can find a good rig for $3,500?
Shredex replied to SoCalFunJumper's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I got a good starter rig for $1100! No AAD, but good nonetheless. -

Cramped plane. Easy do snag the deployment hacky on something. After your last handles check(right before hoping out) make sure to not bump your rig into ANYTHING The camera's involvement? Could have been distracted getting the camera ready and had forgotten to do a handles check. -

FAA Regulations on Recording Your Own Video

Yes, but good luck using it in an argument. Most people take it as a dead set rule and fighting it will result in a possible DZ ban :P The DZO themselves can set rules for their DZ. It's their DZ, their rules. So even if it's a recommendation, it might be a rule at your DZ. If you have proved yourself capable and like-minded, then you just might be able to jump with one at an early ## :P My DZ is a strict 200 minimum but they will let you do it a little earlier if they are absolutely confident in you. Smaller DZ's the staff might even do several jumps with you and see your capabilities and allow you to jump one much sooner. -

FAA Regulations on Recording Your Own Video
Shredex replied to fade1800's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
USPA SIM Section 6-8 "c. A USPA C license is recommended. " C-License = 200 jumps Note that the USPA in this section seems to be referring to videoing others and states nothing about a solo jumper videoing for documentational purposes. I've already emailed the safety director at the USPA discussing this issue and have not heard back from him. -

USPA Recommends a minimum of 200 freefall skydives before jumping with a camera. It also states you should be current with your gear and know the gear very well before attempting a jump with a camera. There is a few DZ's you can go to that will allow you to jump with a camera much earlier. Some being as early as 30 jumps. Again, it is just a "recommendation" set in place by the USPA. But many large DZ's take it as a set rule because they have so much traffic that they wan't it to be as safe as possible. The FAA has nothing to do with having the ability to jump with a camera. -
I'm only asking out of curiosity. I was explaining to my boss how F-111 canopies don't last as long as ZP canopies, and how you have to get the lines changed and what not. And then he asked me how long the rig itself lasts, to which I just scratched my head..."Good question!"

On average, how many jumps can you get on a container before it's un-airworthy? Well-kept vs. Not well-kept

How many swims do I need before I can use an Apache? :P -
Was only sarcasm. ...but! He could allow for drilling in certain places(those special places within the US) which would drop the cost of gas by 2/3rds! (Maybe could lower the fuel tax as well). We just need to build a 13,000 foot tower that we can jump off of!

Quick question. Any reason you can't just mount the FlySight into the Audible pockets on the helmet? Is it a signal problem?
