packing_jarrett 0 #1 September 16, 2005 I'm starting to get into camera flying and I don't have a camera. BUt I've been looking at some cheap PC100's for around $250. Are these camera worth the money?Na' Cho' Cheese
PhreeZone 15 #2 September 16, 2005 Need to add more thrill to the skydive huh? Read the USPA recomendations on camera flying before you think about jumping it. Pc1000? Are you sure its not a Pc100?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
packing_jarrett 0 #3 September 16, 2005 Yeah I meant PC100 sorry for the confusion and I've read that USPA recomdation thing like a kazillion times. But is it worth the price?Na' Cho' Cheese
Superfletch 1 #4 September 16, 2005 The PC100 is one of the older PC Style cameras. It does a great job. It has a 37mm lens on it which is a bit bigger than some of today's cameras. It's larger and heavier than the newer ones but lots of folks still use them. It's MiniDV. Anyhow, I'd say that $250 is a decent price on one. However, if you only have 51 jumps you have no business jumping a camera. Don't be in such a hurry. Learn to be a good skydiver first. AndyMan 7 #5 September 16, 2005 Sort of. If you wait until you're actually qualified to jump the camera, it'll be cheaper. By that definition - then no, it's not worth the price to buy now what you should buy later, for less. Otherwise, to somebody who actually intends to use it - well, it's a reasonable price. Personally I think it's a bit high for what its worth, but that is what they go for. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I don't... but his profile says he jumps at Skydive Toledo.. isn't that where Michael Bess jumps? Jarret, if you have a chance.. talk to Michael Bess.. he can teach you a trick or two about cameraflying (or how to stay away from it for another 150 jumps.. )
packing_jarrett 0 #8 September 17, 2005 he hasn't been down in a while. He dropped off his rigs to get them repacked but hasn't picked them up.Na' Cho' Cheese
Jethers203 0 #9 September 19, 2005 Please realize that you have no business jumping a camera at your experience level. Like others have said, you need to know how to fly your body first. Go talk to your local instructors and experienced videographers at your DZ. I am sure they will tell you the same thing. Clint D-24352
