Does anyone know why there is not random formation 'I'?
H is BOW and J is DONUT. But where is the I.

Did i miss something on english language lessons or what :)

Often I is omitted to avoid confusion with 1, but in that case O is usually omitted too, to avoid confusion with 0.

It came from a committee - it doesn't have to make sense.

Yes John,

But there is no Block "0", there is a "1".

Random "I" could also be the Strata-Bow. This formation was stumbled upon by my team last year-- we were trying to build a Bow, but the tail was brainlocking his ass off and catting on one of the centers-- kind of like a Catacord, a bow, and/or a murphy flake, but not. This happened right before break off too, so we all gave him what-the-hell-are-you-doing looks as we turned to track, then rolled laughing when we got to the ground. :D Frickin' love 4-way.....

Yes - obviously not computer geeks who designed the dive pool. All geeks know that counting begins with zero.

If TRUE computer geeks did the dive pool it would go:
0: Unipod
1: Stairstep
01:Murphy Flake
00:Yuan
10:Meker
001: Open accordian.

I agree with Mel. Random I is any formaion that is not in the dive pool. Just like Block 0 is anything you want.

no way. EVERYONE, especially Miss Melanie, knows that Block 0 is the Spinning Bagel Cat. duh. first point is a meeker. grip switch as if you were transitioning to a cat, but make everyone have grips on the person in front. double grippered donut thing. it just spins and spins and spins. We had an OC who "didn't like" to drop grips, resulting in this. oy.

My team invented a new block 0 at our very first training weekend.

We were launching an open accordian, and the centers lost their grips out the door. We executed a PERFECT "Open accordian - Open accordian" with the two pieces each turning 360 degrees.

Not really intentional, but funny as hell on video.

Ramdom "I" is the starflake....introduced by a chicago team at the usnats in Parris :P

Big Eyes & Grins

The "Starflake" being flown over Perris Vally US Nationals in 2000. I still don't understand why the judges didn't see the pure genius of this formation. :P Sorry BB had to do it!!!!

So who the hell was coaching you???

I would have to agree that random "I" is the now very infamous STARFLAKE. Of course, another team, with two members of the infamous starflake built the nearly as infamous "Marundy" or "Bunquis" whichever you prefer. Given that it occurred in a practice round, it simply can't be given a position in the dive pool.

The STARFLAKE will live forever.

Ah yes, and of course who could forget the elusive "armpolion" formation which is rarely caught on film. The "bunquis" sounds familiar, could you elaborate? :S

the Bun-quis or "Marundy" as it is also known typically occurs when an unnamed tail flyer decides to geek the cam under the formation and steals a key, whereby the Point is so utterly confused that he picks up a sideboy grip on the outside center. The center flyers, being center flyers, are not confused and hold the intended point (the Bundy) - resulting in even greater confusion.

It is actually a Bundy cleverly disquised as a Marquis. Given that the Marquis does not appear as a random formation and that a 21 was not on the skydive - it is worthy of mention - better yet, it included two participants and the videographer from the STARFLAKE. No stills were captured, but video evidence does prove its existence
