Icon and Aerodyne links in posts

Nice new markup look on the keywords Willem! :)

It's a start, though it still masks existing links. The word should not be linked as an ad if it's already part of a link to somewhere else. This means that links to, say, comparative reviews of containers will not be masked by advertisements.

And it'd be nice if TA's suggestion that Premier Members didn't see the links was implemented. edit: Yeah, it's selfish on my part, but it's also a way to increase uptake of premier memberships.

I've been playing with the colours for the new less-obtrusive links and I like them, especially the roll-over grey. Looks nice & understated.

Is there a way for premiere members to viewtheir own posts with the inserted links? (just want to be able to tell if links are being added into my posts).

Make the post and click preview.

Icon
Aerodyne

No links in there.

And then make the post and click edit.

Well, I still don't see any links.

Now I'll log out and look at it.

brb.

Okay, I logged out and looked at my post, and the links are indeed there.

I wonder if emoticon looks different?

Well, glory be! It's fixed. No link in emoticon. I'm pretty well satisified with the way this has been addressed. I still prefer the Google Ad style, but this is not bad at all.

I still think that premier members, having already paid to support the site, shouldn't have their content changed to include links they do not intend.

It's nice that they don't have to look at em, but I don't like my content being messed about with.

It doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's something I'd cancel my membership over.

I understand exactly where you're coming from, but I think that having the links in another colour makes it obvious to readers that the links are advertising rather than poster-authored editorial content, which was my primary complaint.

It's not ideal, and I agree with RL that contextual text ads would probably be both less intrusive and more effective, but this is a compromise I'm happy to live with.

I think it's also good to see that attention is being paid to our concerns.

I really don't care. I have the option to use the site or not. As it happens I really like it and found it an invaluable source of information throughout my AFF.

Use of websites like this is a privelage not a right.
Either live with it or don't use it, why make big deal out of things

Edit: As a newbie I was constantly cross referancing peoples comments about products with manufacturers sites and also gear reviews to help my knowledge of different products. This seems to work nicely for that.

Why didn't you do it sooner :P

OK, this is not the identical problem as what Kris originally posted about... but for some reason instead of seeing the links when people say Icon I don't actually see anything other then a single space... where the word would be...

I assume it is a problem with my browsers (or my firewall) but I'm be curious to know if other people have experienced this problem as well.
