bob.dino 0 #51 March 22, 2006 QuoteNice new markup look on the keywords Willem! It's a start, though it still masks existing links. The word should not be linked as an ad if it's already part of a link to somewhere else. This means that links to, say, comparative reviews of containers will not be masked by advertisements. And it'd be nice if TA's suggestion that Premier Members didn't see the links was implemented. edit: Yeah, it's selfish on my part, but it's also a way to increase uptake of premier memberships. I've been playing with the colours for the new less-obtrusive links and I like them, especially the roll-over grey. Looks nice & understated.

I don't like my content being messed about with. I understand exactly where you're coming from, but I think that having the links in another colour makes it obvious to readers that the links are advertising rather than poster-authored editorial content, which was my primary complaint. It's not ideal, and I agree with RL that contextual text ads would probably be both less intrusive and more effective, but this is a compromise I'm happy to live with. I think it's also good to see that attention is being paid to our concerns.
