Tandem Rating Question

I am planning to get my TI rating this winter, Sigma, and I wasn't sure if they still require a cutaway. I haven't seen it on the progression card. I could always do a intentional before my repack but still want to know. Thanks!!

The Vector/Sigma rating doesn't require a sport chop, since Bill Booth has said he feels like a sport chop doesn't prepare you for a tandem chop at all.

There are a number of hanging harness drills (with a passenger hooked up) that you do, though. They're comical, but really good training.

As far as I know, Strong still does require a cutaway. I did mine with an intentional system a local jump had made for him. Granted it doesn't prepare you for the real thing but is still better than nothing.

No longer required in the last couple years. Not sure exactly when it changed.

Stratostar is right. An emergency or intentional cutaway is still needed for Strongs.

YEP... i just got my rating four months ago and it was required for Strong. I actually got my cutaway one week prior to the course with my Velo with broken lines on a hard opening... Everything worked out!!!

You choose the right system , in my mind the Sygma is by far the most advance and safe system in the world, so far.
Personally I would like UPT to raise his minimum jumps to 1000 jumps, by experience 500 is not enought.

I got my sigma tandem rating in the states. I had never ever had a cutaway in 6800 jumps. I asked if I needed to and they said not for a sigma rating.
Since getting my tandem rating I survived 680 tandems with no chop, then changed dropzone and had three in about four months! I now have about 1600 tandems and don't mind packing for myself if I have time.
