howardwhite 4 #1 August 23, 2010 In good shape and ready to jump -- if I had a rig that would hold it. I had forgotten about the top skin-only ropes and rings. HW
JerryBaumchen 1,048 #2 August 24, 2010 Hi howard, My one & only jump on a 'baby' Para-Plane was on 16 Aug 70 at Issaquah. Wow, did that thing ever have a lot of forward speed. But I did put it just on the edge of the pea pit. JerryBaumchen
darkwing 4 #3 August 24, 2010 In about 1976 we had one, belonging to Randy Houck, and we relined it, ripped out a bunch of reinforcing, put on a slider, and called it the "Scara-Plane". -- Jeff My Skydiving History
RogerRamjet 0 #4 August 24, 2010 I have a handful of para-plane and para-cloud jumps. Yes, it uses rings and ropes on the top surface, but depending on sub-terminal/terminal opening, there is a collar (if I recall correctly) that must be used for terminal and can't be used for sub-terminal. Getting that backwards is either bad (reefed for terminal, jumped sub-terminal causes bag lock) or disasterous (reefed for sub-terminal and jumped terminal causes broken bones). If you have the manual, make sure the new owner gets and reads it for packing... ----------------------- Roger "Ramjet" Clark FB# 271, SCR 3245, SCS 1519
JumpUpMyAss 0 #5 August 24, 2010 I bought one in 1977 from Tom Manship (rip). Top was full of patches from the original reefing system.
lekstrom10k 0 #6 August 24, 2010 I had one baby-plane and 4 para-planes . If you de-taped the para-plane it would fit anything a PC could go into. I made a machine to cut and mark new lines all at the same tension.I still contend other than a STC for 4 jumpers in a C-182. A slider was the best thing to happen to sky diving. The kids today would have quit if one out of 20 jumps was a cutaway. Stabalizer panels We dont need no stinking stabalizer panels. I'll see Randy Allison on Wednesday and can tell him "HI" from you if you want. He met you at Orange this year
