Round canopy ?

I just "won" this on ebay to use as decoration in a resturant I hope to be opening. Anyone know what kind it might be?

Looks like it could be a 28' Lo-Po with a 7-TU mod. Do you have a photo of the I.D. panel?

yep it appears to be a pioneer 28 lopo .data panel should be in the rear ctr(red)

This is cool, I like the mystery of figuring out, definatly looks like it's be modified. Hopefully the data panel is still on it.

What years we're they made in?

yes all pioneer lo pos(28' and 32') were bias constructed.in fact if i recall correctly,they even carry a TSO placard on the data panel (i mite be wrong tho,its been eons since i saw one.)

I would say that when they made it a 7-TU the data pannel went away. Weren't they usually at the lower edge of the center rear gore.

I,ve got a complete system - harness, B-12 container, canopy (28'round hi po with a 7 T/U mod), and sleeve which I modified myself in the early 60,s It,s not for sale, but you could jump it if you can find a reserve.

you are incorrect. the pioneer 28 ' and 32' lopos came from the factory already modified.however the data may be on the lip below the mod as well as above .

Most lopo's were ordered as unmodified and were chopped up by the owner or his rigger to suit their fancy.

Patch= PTCH (1-?). PTCH 6 (the one I'm familiar with) is basicly a Para Commander rip off from the Czech Republic.

OOPS.i stand corrected.i owe mjosparky an apology.all the pioneer lopos i encountered WERE factory modified.you could ascertain this fact because the fabric around each suspension line was also removed between each window,with a "V" tab installed where the line emerged from the radial seam. definitely factory done .thanks pop for setting me straight.

Thanks everyone for the info, I finally got it from UPS today. Someone was nice enough to write on one of the panels before the mod was don, mgf. information. Pioneer 28 1964 serial #11233.

Take good care of it, Froggy, it's a nice piece of history. There weren't all that many factory-made 7TUs in those days--military stuff was too cheap and easy to get and convert.
