DSE 3 #1 June 1, 2007 What DZ is *really* closest to DC? There are three saying they are closest, and I don't know the area ie; one could be physically closer, but travel time is longer. Gonna be there for a week end of June, would like to jump for an afternoon.

DSE 3 #3 June 1, 2007 GREAT list! Of those, recommendations?
peregrinerose 0 #4 June 1, 2007 Chambersburg, of course Nice mid-sized DZ, king air, incredibly wonderful people to jump with (yeah, so I'm biased). Bunk house and plenty of room to camp. Maytown is the home of handsome Dave Dewolf, they usually have 2 cessna's flying... small DZ, but a lot of fun to jump at. That Skydivin' Place in Kingsdale has very limited hours, weekends only and not even every weekend, one cessna as far as I know. The owner is training for 4 way and so the DZ is only open sporadically. He's a great guy though. Although I've never jumped there, I've jumped with him and have learned a lot from him. Can't help you with the rest of them. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
JENNR8R 0 #5 June 1, 2007 ...recommendations? Orange... because it's mine and you'd get to jump with me. What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy ones? -- Monday.
PhreeZone 15 #6 June 1, 2007 Delmarva has had some airport issues so I'd call first before going there. Orange is my pick since I know Liz, Brandon and crew will treat you right out there. xlh883 0 #7 June 1, 2007 Hey Phree, Reemeber me from last year at SGC, around Labor and later? I am jumping at Skydive Orange now. Hope to make it back to SGC at least once this season. Living in Maryland now. Couldn't make enough money in Columbus to survive. I still want the EOY DVD if you can get one to me by mail. Will send check. Let me know. Talk to you later, David Burnworth
BGill 0 #8 June 1, 2007 Delmarva, Orange, and Chambersburg are all the same distance from DC, just in different directions. I recommend Delmarva. We kick ass
damonsteele 0 #9 June 1, 2007 DSE, Delmarva will be reopened by the time you get to the area. They have a Twin Otter and some good fun jumpers. A little further than a couple other DZs but worth the drive.
keka 0 #10 June 1, 2007 QuoteGREAT list! Of those, recommendations? Chambersburg is a very nice DZ and have the king air Orange is great too and closer to DC; they have the sweet Otter West Point by far has the best scenic view and have the Otter and Casa (once in a while) that come from NC. I've only been to these 3 DZs around DC, so far.http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org PMS#551 I love my life :)

DougH 270 #12 June 1, 2007 Orange gets my vote. they are top notch!!! They opened the drop zone for my college club on my way back to CT after collegiates after no other drop zones along the way were going to be open. Orange was happy to try to find a pilot, and offer us great jump tickets. Some of their fun jumpers showed up to jump with us, and later were nice enough to invite us over to their house for a bbq. On of the nicest group of jumpers I have met yet!!! Their super otter was very nice!"The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

ScottGray 0 #14 June 12, 2007 Depends on which side of DC you are on. North Side - PA is closest. East Side - Delmarva West Side - Orange or Louisa South Side - West Point I have been to all but PA, all are good choices and lots of great people.WSI-5 / PFI-51 / EGI-112 / S-Fly The Brothers Gray Wing Suit Academy Contact us for first flight and basic flocking courses at your DZ or boogie. www.thebrothersgray.com
