Buying/Selling gear and seeing before paying - Out of state

Any ideas on how to let someone look at your gear for sale when they are located in another state and want to check the fit, have a rigger inspect, etc.? When you don't know each other you are either sending your equipment with no payment hoping you get payment or your gear back or sending a payment hoping that the gear comes and maybe the seller will refund if you are not happy?

Contact the local DZ in the state the equipment is going to, ask them to hold the gear for inspection by their rigger and the person but not to release it. Only after you give them a call that you have been paid would they release it.
I have sold and bought gear this way. It makes i relatively safe for both parties.

here's a contract I used on my last 2 transactions... a few posts down there's a bit of a mod if you don't like the first part.

Make all transactions through the DZ's, the first time I did that I felt like it was uncalled for, but It makes matters easier on both sides, and keeps people honest.

Thanks for the advice. I remember the time when I bought my first rig and dumb me sent cash first and sweated out arrival of the rig, but it came and all was well. Just trying to be fair.

Might try www.escrow.com. There is a fee involved but might save you thousands in the long run.

I purchased a Harley off ebay and used escrow.com. Very smooth!!! I would use this way.
