peckerhead 0 #1 March 19, 2006 When you come in to land face into the wind and pull your steering toggles down. It is called a "flare" If you do not know how to Flare then you should find somebody who knows how to do this

mattjw916 2 #8 March 19, 2006 Truer words were never spoken. That works for canopies too... after bouncing off the ground, or swoop pond, the best canopy pilots keep flying it until they finally grind to a stop! NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
JohnMitchell 14 #9 March 19, 2006 Quote Along those same lines, I once heard Bob Hoover say "If you are going to crash, fly the airplane as far into the crash as you can". If I remember right, Bob Hoover did crash one due to a refeuling mistake, and walked away quite nicely, thank-you--very-much. I prefer to fly with pilots that have crashed one already. It shows they have the concept down pretty well.
